What's new

Oaksterdam University yay or nay?

Hey everybody I am a fairly new member and just started recently posting. I was wondering what other peoples thoughts are on this institution. I have been contemplating whether I should spend my hard earned money for their "education." I am more along the lines interested in the legal classes.

I have been growing my own meds for the last 5 years and I am a prop 215 patient. I still live in fear because a couple of months ago a huge raid went down in my county but they have yet to press any charges. Dea took out a lot of legal mj grows some huge and some small and I knew people that knew people that got popped. I want to keep continuing growing my own meds and to be able to donate the excess.

So what are your opinions? I know some of you members are already alumni so please feel free to tell of your experiences and whether it is a worthy establishment. I have noticed since Marijuana Inc. there enrollment is constantly being filled.

thanks again. :joint:

Riverside will leave you alone, as long as you are in compliance...but they are cops, so that is also determined by if they decided to not like you, and use that as an excuse-- But mostly, they will not bother a small garden--
(At least in my experiences)

I'd be very tempted to get my State Card if I lived in Riverside...anyone have thoughts about the pros/cons to this?

I would venture to say that anything you will learn in their classes, you can learn for free on ICmag. I started off knowing nothing a year ago and I learned everything on here. As far as the law is concerned, stay within your limits, keep the smell under wraps and don't say shit if it comes to that.

Hey Teeg,

I wouldn't worry. In Santa Cruz, the Sheriff has come out to say that they don't care about you if you are growing a medicinal garden for yourself (and then a little).

The sheriffs don't have the resources to come out and investigate unless someone directly reports it. Even then they will leave you alone with proper documentation... The DEA is going after large scale marijuana growers in public lands, they could care less about 10 plants in someones back yard.

Also, I love donating the medicine I don't need to WAMM, they are the greatest ever and you know exactly where your medicine is going.

In terms of Oaksterdam, I would save the money and the weekend. Nothing they teach can't be learned by studying yourself. Read up here, safeaccessnow.org, and the laws and court cases that protect (or don't protect) you as a patient.

I had the same reservations about getting the State ID card, but it was easy, doesn't contain your name or any identifying info other than your photo and a unique ID number. Plus it is THE best protection from arrest and prosecution (unless you are a greedy bastard who is growing big AND selling to anyone, which I personally know some peeps who do this, but I'm no snitch).

It was a bit of a hassle because the dumbshits at MediCann don't cooperate well with the County Departments (Riverside for me) so I had to renew my rec early with another Dr. That blew, but the problem was that if I dicked around trying to straighten MediCann out, I might have lost my application money because you have only 30 days (unless I'm mistaken) from the date you apply to get you verified and processed, so in a way it was cheaper in the long run to just get a renewal from a different clinic. My MediCann rec was due to expire in 3 months anyway. I'm glad I got it because I feel safer and don't have to carry a paper rec that has my name on it to possibly get lost.

So, yeah, I would recommend it. Just don't get stupid!:noway:

he he trust me i try not to get stupid. the state id card is a $100 right? and its not mandatory? cause I have a patient id center card is that kind of the same thing?

what do you consider big? cause around here 4 to 6 KW pretty normal. Its just those damn plant numbers cause I want an arsenal of moms so that i can change it up.

I live in Riverside County too. They should leave you alone. I wouldn't do it (outdoors) personally but I have nosey ass neighbors and they are too close to conceal it. So I go indoors. I rarely have people to my place, and I keep the smell and trash out of sight and smell so there shouldn't be any red flags. I also insulated the entire interior of the room to avoid an obvious heat signature. Just remember, what will bring you down is carelessness, greed or a big mouth. The less who know, the better you'll be. I wouldn't even have a garden if the cost wasn't so great for bud. So I grow for my own use only. Plus you KNOW what you are getting when you grow yer own.

Well, unreasonably big. I think the limits are too low just because of the way they set it up. 6 mature OR 12 immature? Don't they realize that those 12 ARE going to mature if grown right, so now you will have 12 MATURE plants? Doesn't make sense. Plus, youre right, I'd like to have several mothers so I can just clone them and not have to keep buying seeds or clones, unless I want to shake it up a bit.

4 - 6kw seems big to me, but this is my first garden. Do you have a rec for more than the cap? My grow is about 1.2kw and I don't have a perpetual harvest either. So now i'm on a 12/12 schedule so I use far less power = less red flags.

I'm not sure what the fee is now, you can find it on the internet and it is COMPLETELY voluntary. Personally it makes me more comfortable and I despise most gov't agencies. If I was planning on growing bigger crops, I wouldn't feel so safe with the card. I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist and I wouldn't want my name, address and phone on a govt list if I was outside the state law.

Did you get your id at the LA Patient ID Center? Ive been there for ASA meetings. Cool place. Ive been thinking of taking the Oaksterdam classes. Personally I learn better when someone talks to me or shows me in person. I can do it by book or forums like these, but I am a bit dyslexic so it takes a bit longer. So I am not sure about the protection the Patient ID card gives. They are a reputable place so it might be good.

I have had LEO and CPS look at my garden, interview my daughter...ask for a copy of my Rec, so they could put it in my file..."So we don't have to bother with this again."--
Then my daughter's Principle called her into the office...telling her, "I know we teach that marijuana is a drug, and drugs are bad...but your dad has a recommendation from his Dr, and it is ok that he uses it."--
True shit-- I was amazed--
This was like 2 years ago...and still no backlash--:yeahthats

You must be a cloner. Started from seed the odds say 6 will be males and need to be discarded.
