Judging by the looks of your indoor I'm sure you will do quite well.

Forget what I said about burying the cans i didn't realize they'd be in standing water. They should stay plenty cool. Especially after the plants get large enough to shade the containers.

I think the trash can is the best idea but it was cool how you offered to put one out instead of flaming like most people would. I think this thread is gona be great

In my humble opinion i think 32 gallons of soil is an overkill. You simply dont need that much soil i promise. Secondly since your not burrying your containers the roots will dry out super fast this summer. No way u will be able to keep up with the waterings. Black garbage cans in the hot sun all day will do nothing but bad for your roots and moisture level. Good luck.

You are soooo wrong, sorry, but ya are. :noway: Many growers use 32's they have plenty of room to contain moisture laden enriched soil. With added polymer you actually water much less than ground based as the water is not "lost" to surrounding soil/vegetation. And if anyone leaves (who said they were black?) cans just sitting out needs to get their head examined! :yoinks:
Simple; the camo does two things, blocks the Sun and vision of the "man-made" container. Don't knock it til ya try it! Thick shrubs are utilised, hollow out a "hole" for the can thus accomplishing both, if your area has em, that is.

ok so here is the update so far.

Left for a few days. Came back and about half of them where dead. Guess that little bit of rain we had didnt soak the dirt well enough. Since there is only 10 buckets out there right now i just used some of the babies still in cups to take the place of the dead ones. Been walking 2 5gallon gas cans full of water in to water them until the rains come. Sucks ass with cracked ribs but what are ya gonna do.

Go out this morning 2 buckets dug up by coons. Some rat traps in the TCs should keep that from going on much longer.

Ive learned alot and even if i dont get anything this summer im planning on moving out some 24+ inch females in August or whenever these are done...:dueling: This is going off one way or the other...

youll be alright man. now you know that at this time of year you need to do an additional handwatering before water levels rise. save all knowledge from experiences. your gonna have monsters in a few months!

From looking at the garbage can pics i think you should SCROG those bitches and you won't have to worry about critters digging anything up. And if you don't have time/can't make that many trips, to lst at all, then you don't have to. Just use some wire and make holes on either side of the bin and then weave the small gauge wire until you get a thin net over the top. :2cents:

Yeah i thought about putting a screen on top just to protect em while they are young. Might do that if the damn coons keep coming back.

What keep the plants from drowning when those 32 gal cans are sitting in 1 foot of standing water?

I guess as long as you have 3 feet or so above the water the roots wont drown. Thats what ive read and been told by other swamp people. I have them placed so if i do have to drag them to high ground it will be possible. Hard but possible.
