Hey Sub i have a question on your p91...

In my inexperience that bud looks like it is ready. I see nice amber hairs some even brown. When you say 2 weeks to go is that because you have grown this strain enough where thats how you like it?

For starters you need to harvest by trichome and not hair color.

JS it could be I am not pushing them hard enough,as this is my 1st time with them. I have them up around 925-960 ppm (conv 5), My first time around I do not like to push them until I see a little burn as it slows them down too much. And I do not have enough cuts for one to be the sacrificial lamb. JK

My $10 radio shack mini-microscope is my best friend when it comes to harvesting, just look for amber and gauge according to your preference.

GS has this bad-ass camera thing that works even better but if you want simplicity head over to radio shack.

Yo Darius, I gotta ask, when you say amber and brown I think you have confused hair color with trichome color. If no one has ever actually in detail explained it then they could be easily mixed up. Yes the hairs change from white to brown/orange/amber depending on strain. In older days I remember growers going by hair color to judge finishing times. Today we judge the actual color of the trichome, or resin head. The resin heads change throughout the flowering period, going from small clear heads, to cloudy and slightly larger, to full and amber. To get the best stone possible we grow our plants until the resin heads turn fully amber. Not all heads have to turn color, but a nice mixture of heads will give different stones. Just take what you know about your hairs, and get a hand held microscope to inspect the resin heads, you will notice over time they will change.

With this knowledge just think, every plant you harvest from now on could possibly get you even more stoned than you've been getting!

I actually have 2 scopes. one is the Radio shack 50x-100x and the other is a 30x. The 30x is MUCH better IMO for looking at bugs and other nasty ju-ju. The 50x-100x is probably better for trich judging but if I had to get just one, i personally would go with the 30x

Waiting and going to amber is a personal call. If I was going to make hash or the strain is famous for it's couchlock High I would wait for amber. I rarely let my strains go past 25% amber. If I do for my taste preference I lose something. My N. Haze I never go past 50% cloudy. You need to pick your buds at various stages and try them after they cure to help you figure out what you like in your herb. Suerte JK

Totally correct Jalisco kid, I should have said something along those lines as well. I honestly always pull my buds early anyways. They are done for sure, but always they could flower longer. I'd say on an average, I just go by look and day(I always harvest around 55), but I do have a scope and I look. Not that it matters, right now I have a purple kush completely cloudy, the heads could probably get fatter and some would turn amber, but I am harvesting tomorrow at day 50. I need the smoke, and she will be more than decent, she will still be dank. But for sure it's all about what kind of stone you want, or if your willing to wait, but you can pull early, but at least always go 45 days flowering.

Had a bro pull a bunch of that GI all at day 48 and it was some of the dankest I've smoked. GI may be a fast strain too though. ;)

I think we could be getting more amber more quickly though. Check out this video, if you haven't seen it already let me know what you guys think. It makes good sense, and sounds like we could get more stoney buds if we used some sort of UVB lighting. Like a reptile light.

cracking beans

I know this isn't a budshot but I am posting it up here because the GDP-Skunk beans pictured here(2nd +3rd rows from top) sprouting are the creation of one of our esteemed members in SD. I put 11 in and 8 have sprouted already so you know they are quality. I soaked them in RO water for 24 hours and the in Jiffys for 48 hours so far, the Jiffys were expanded using a warm CloneX solution.

I also have some other beans in the tray, some old favorites like Hash Plant, Jack Herrer and an HTC Skunk cross and some newer stuff like Madness x C99 and Sour OG.

I'll put some pics up as they develop

Very cool...really looking forward to how those turn out. Some friends tossed around a few names for that cross and seems peeps liked Mountain Madness, me being Mountain and all , but I personally liked Madnerella. Anyway...Sub said not too many of those beans were made. Someone I know may run those outside this year and could be pretty crazy. That cross should be a great resin producer and very tasty...don't know about the yield thing though.

Good luck with em!

Oh yeah...if you get a decent Jack Herer male you should consider crossing that to J1...heh heh.
