Tents: Homebox, Hydrohut, Secret Jardin, Growlab Ect

Dude stop spreading this misinformation.

Your buddy Steve at Everest Garden Supply is not the Jardin manufacturer - they were just a distributor who has switched to another tent that they are directly associated with. They never had one bad thing to say about the Jardin tents until they started selling the Growlab tent, so I'd take anything they say with a grain of salt.

Secret Jardin tents are not going away, even though people like you are trying to make everyone think that they are going away in favor of this Growlab tent. Your post quoted above is a clear attempt to make people think that.

Anyways, for some final clarification for everyone since there are some mixed signals out there... Only Everest Garden Supply and BGHydro, who appear to own the Growlab Horicultural brand itself, will be switching to Growlab over the Jardin tents.. Other retailers will continue to sell them and other distributors will continue to distribute them, 4hydroponics.com for example.

Don't believe all this hype that Secret Jardin is going away or that they had anything to do with this Growlab tent.. The only people who want you to think that are people who make money off the Growlab tent and the only people saying that are either BSing on purpose or have been misled by the other people.

Hello, i was told that over the phone by the supposed manufacturer of the darkroom, so i took it as truth. I am not being paid or sponsored to make any of my posts, i am an end-user who purchased a growlab. i was told the secret jardin was not going to be worked on any more, i suggest you contact egs and have a chat with them if they are spreading misinformation, but afaik what i posted is supposed 100% truth which i got from egs. why are people not wanting to produce DR anymore? because the zippers fail, this is what ive been told. steve told me the whole story behind them and releasing the DR at the perfect time, call him up.

"We'd like to hear from you... Please use the Contact Form to e-mail us or call our toll-free number (888) EGS-2007"

count me as someone who is more than satisfied with a dr80. home depot offers a really simple solution for lightproofing the intake flaps at the bottom. in the section where you buy portable A/C accesories (filters, etc) there is a thick, black cloth looking filter you can buy meant for portable A/C units. its pretty large and you cut it yourself to fit. buy a couple packs of that, fold it over so its "double thick" thus allowing less light through, cut to fit the flaps, and apply to the open flaps at the bottom. the material is porous allowing air through but light does not appear to escape back out when lights are on so it also light proofs the flaps. it also serves as an air filter and captures an insane amount of dust so it is doubly good. should probably replace them every few months.

Got any pics, so I know what to look for? Product shots and in-use shots would be dope...

the filter stays on the intakes via the negative pressure of whatever fan you have. a more permanent solution would be something like aluminum tape but I have not experimented yet.

Seems like the velcro strips would hold the filter material in place. Don't forget, duct tape will fix anything:joint:

Thanks for the good vibes smokesalot, we got some snow and the cold, but missed the heavy ice thankfully. Been hearing there is another massive front headed this way though, so we'll just have to see what happens. We were in the track of this summer's wind storm and had just got all the roofs in the community fixed prior to the snow starting here this year.

The gl is very similar. Except the zippers are stronger and instead of side doors you can just totally unzip the sides for full access. I have some pics up on my recent album

Hello, I have my 145 and it does indeed have side doors, I believe smaller versions do not. here is the info from the 145:

Doors: 3 (front plus 2 side doors)

growlab 120:

Doors: 1

I saw that but I had thought the 120 was big enough for side doors. Although like I said you can just fold the sides back andnopen the whole tent up if u needed the access

so which tent would u guys recommend? growblab or darkroom?

Darkroom for sure.

Some ugly complaints about the Growlab tents out there.. Supposedly the window in the front leaks light, and some owners report the reflective material is not bonded to the canvas properly and comes apart. Those same people indicate there will be a Growlab version 2 coming soon, so hopefully they will fix those issues.

Till then, I would avoid Growlab. Even then, I'd let others play guinea pig first.

I got mine from bghydro, though they seem to own the Growlab brand and are switching to the Growlab tents as such.

4hydroponics.com has both tents you are looking for, and I highly recommend that shop anyways.

I've finished prolly 7-8 rounds in my Darkroom tents, been using them for well over a year now. Had one and bought another when it was time to upgrade, so i have an older model 120 and a newer model 150 with improved zippers and flaps.

I wish I had read this sooner. Just ordered a GL120L from westcoasthydro.com, actually I live near them and I get it from their store, good prices. It hasn't come yet but they told me it looks exactly like the Secret Jarden. I now find that not to be the case. I out grew my DR120 3'11" X 3'11" I had 2 good grows in it with excellent results. I didn't have any zipper problems nor did it have any light leaks. Can anyone verify the configuration of the GL120L. Does it have side windows or not? I find them really useful on my SJ DR120. And I realy hate velcro might change order and have them get me the SJ DR240 wide instead. The only problem is I need the added room real quick.
Thanks

Picked up the GL120L today and put it up. Not that easy. Directions suck. Put all my plants in from my secret Jardin and hooked up all the electrical connections. Here's the kicker; went to zip it up and the front panel is torn at where the center zipper closes at the bottom. Heading bact to the grow store tomorrow to ask for an exchange. I hate to go through all that work again but I know that the thing will tear all the way up. My opinion about the Grow lab as compared to the secret Jardin, Secret Jardin wins hands down. Much better quality. Ports on the SJ have double sleves. The GL sleves are single and plastic.I am going to ask the grow store if they can get me one in exchange all together. And Everest told them that the Grow Lab replaced the Secret Jardin too. He couldn't believe they were still made.

Does anyone know where to pick up a Darkroom (in particular, the DR100) in Canada or the US? Everywhere I've looked this evening lists them as "Temporarily out of stock"

Thanks for the help, Gold123 - Still haven't found anyone who's doing mail order to the US that has it in stock, but I've emailed both the addresses you left in the hopes they'll get back to me with somewhere I missed.

Check out www.wormsway.com

Not in their stores yet (at least not locally), but they are listing the full line of DR's in their 2009 catalog at reasonable prices. Good company to deal with.

I'm up in the air between a Silver SunHut XXL 4' x 8' x 7'

http://www.bestgrowlights.com/site/403863/product/SSI706810

for $429.95 (my hydro store has them for $500)

and the GrowLab 120L - 3'11" x 7'11" x 6'7"

http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=GRGL120L&eq=&Tp=

ordered from bghydro for $354.95

:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

i think in the Sun Hut i can run (2) 4' x 4' Botanicare trays (Coco, 2 gal pots) and in the Growlab i can only do (2) 3' x 3' trays. But i have never seen either set up so can't know for sure.

What do you guys think of the New Silver Sun Huts? It's nice to pick it up in person in case there is something wrong with it.

I had a secret jardin that I liked a lot out grew it and got the GL120 in my opinion not made very well front flap covering zipper was torn out of the box more tears happening at the seams all the time. I'd never get another grow lab. My$0.02
No experience with Sun Hut, and yes I would go wher you can look at it even if it is a little more if you need to return or anything else you pay shipping both ways.
