the movie was like something i would watch on tv on a Saturday afternoon when shawshank redemption (to me the greatest movie of all time to watch high) isnt playing. on a side note i have two distinctly different strains that have both been called pineapple express. one from a club and one from a dealer. Both were good but the one form the dealer was better, the nug was so hard you could literally break a window with it -- literally. an 8th looked like a fat dub it was so dense.

thought it was ok. didn't like the stereotypes presented. and i agree with those that say that guy is more of a tweeker than a pot head. still how high and puff puff pass have a special place in my heart. far above this movie.

Damn, talk about a polarized thread. The first page or two is all positive, then the last two pages are all negative.

I watched this movie dead sober last night, and laughed my ass off. The beginning is hilarious, the first 20 minutes give or take. Then there's a short 10-15 period where the jokes are kinda derivative and the movie slows down, but then it picks right back up again until the end.

I think those 10-15 minutes are where the movie is transitioning between traditional stoner comedy, and action/thriller/stoner comedy hybrid -- so naturally the transition is going to be a little bumpy, and some people are going to be turned off.

But even the critics liked this movie, which is exceptionally rare for a stoner flick. A classic in my opinion.

i wanted to like this movie. the girlfriend hyped it up for me after i didnt go to the theater to see it. well, i finally saw it and agree with some people here. some mildly funny stuff, but for the most part, disappointing.

the opening scene was great though, i will give it that.

OMFG my girlfriend, who doesn't smoke, and i went to see this movie. Strangely for me I hadn't smoked yet that day. We were laughing our asses off! Everyone else in the theater was probably givin' us the stink eye because we were so loud, but that ish is funny.
Name me a better stoner comedy made in the past 10 years.... can't do it, can ya?

I also caught this @ the 12:01 showing.

Movie had its good moments. I think i was the only one in the theatre to burst out laughing at the subtle jokes.

Im definitely gonna add it to the dvd collection when it comes out

that's why i stopped going to the movies...

it depressed me that i was apparently:
A. The least stoned person or the most aware stoner there...
B. The only REASONABLY smart person there
C. The only one who appreciated the efforts of the filmmakers.

Then i realized i was in V for Vendetta and that government destruction isn't funny for most people...

then again, most people didn't laugh at the pure exagerations that the dealer told seth's character in the movie... maybe cause they get told the same crap by THEIR dealers?

Uh? What?

dale wasnt as funny as i thought he would be , and the actor franco is obviously not a pot smoker.the girlfriend was annoying..i will admit that red was pretty funny ... "dale denton nice to meet you bro" slaps hand away.or "just tryin to get a muthafuckin scholarship".. and the ending was pretty funny when dale was like " i killed like 6 people"... i dunno they could of done more with it, and the whole anti weed message was pretty lame. like they have to say weed is evil to make a weed movie , the person who wrote this obviously was forced to add that shit in there.. also matheson had some funny lines.. when he said " i look like the hamburgerler and elephant man" that scene and the scenes involving red having no morale's were the only time i really laughed out loud....overall some decent smoking scenes but thats about it... also the scene in the beginning with the gay Mexican guy was pretty funny "take that shit to the next level" lol.. sigh. its doesnt have the stoner movie feel that grandmas boy had..diff not a grandmas boy replacement.

Grandma's Boy was a funny movie for sure, but in terms of production value, quality of writing/direction, etc, it pales in comparison to Pineapple Express.....in my humble opinion.
