yup thats where things were lost in translation, anywyas I final took em down as the soil froze before they did (snow packed around the bases) and the began to drop so i trimmed and chopped ..... they had been flushed and ready to chop they lasted for a long time but I had zero purpling take place so kind of a wast of effort but I know now u cant just throw em outside and expect em to purple in 48 hours

well AFTER I chopped the one smaller plant finally decided to darken, the large one didnt really do it, but I assume thats because it was bigger healthier so needed some more time to colour...... the basicly became purply black with the most dramatic effects on the shake leafs, they were outside for just over 48 hours with temps around 1 to 4 and at the end it dropped to 0 degrees(celcius). anywyas I guess it works and it seems actualy a little more resinous after the fact, anyways they were each only about a foot high, I basicly had them around to F*%K with so this was a fun little experiment and hey, If your someone wanting bag appeal this could increase it huuugely as most buyers are just leachers and idiots so they'll pay more for colour. I know people who care more about the hairs then crystals :bashhead: . It's just not as easy as it sounds thats all. you could freeze to fast if its below 0 and kill it giving to chance to purple or do it just right were you could get massive purpling. I think of it like cooking with cold, dont overcool it and dont keep it in the "ice oven" for too long. Undercool it and its still raw so to speak hehe

***EDIT replacing picture with a popcorn nug dried***-Random small nublet (It's Willie's Wonder)

 could call it purps and pple would belive me hehe

I put a smaller cola of my (supposed) purple kush in the freezer for several hours before it could freeze thinkin it would purple up. I had the same result as ^^^^. My buds turned black and took longer to dry and cure by doing this I was luck Idid not create issues with the humidity(mold). Kinda looking like some spoiled broccoli.

An airstone in a rez will cause ph fluctuation. Myth? Seriously, i wanna know.

get a couple bags of ice and a 5 gallon bucket ,fill with ice and water, when plant is finished pull the pot off and stick the rootball in the ice water and go do something for a few hours . its an old trick people use to up the price of their weed. doesnt work on everything and it might take a couple more days to dry.

Couldn't you keep the plant in it's container and put the entire pot with the plant still growing in the ice for a couple days before harvest?

That would starve the plant and maybe trigger a response. I've heard of it and wanted to try it but never really have. I did it on a sickly plant but thats no good anyways.

You'd think trichs and the psychoactive compounds would be there at least in part to deter herbivores and insects from eating the plants and to protect the seeds so any physical torture might trigger more production of those compounds.

^^^hmmm..kinda makes sense when you think of it that way...i've read somewhere they used to drive stakes through the stalks before harvest like in ancient times or some shit...won't uvb rays also produce more trichs and resin...the resin acts as a sunscreen to protect the seed...they're found that bud grown (hindu kush mountains) at higher altitudes where there is more uv produce more resin and trichs...the whole decarboxilation thing is a must...check out marijuana chemistry...its a must read... the three main forms of thc (delta 9-thc, cbd and cbn) are all just different aged forms of each other...the more thc to cbd ratio the more UP and sativa-like the high is (heady), and the more cbd to thc then the more couch-lock the high is. and cbn isn't phsychoactive at all and is really just a degrated form of delta 9. but before any of it can become psychoactive it has to lost the six-carbon chain that the molecule holds in its acid form..hence DE-CARBOxilation..

The book is amazing though because it talks about using certain chemicals (which seem to be impossible to get and very dangerous) to cycle the different forms of thc around...so theoretically cbn can be made into one of the potent forms and so on...by altering the molecules..talk about heady..

The nail through the stalk thing strikes me as proof that at the heart of every myth lies a kernel of truth.

Causing damage to the structure of the plant without compromising the plant can cause increased growth. Putting a nail into the stalk would indeed do this, but it would need to be done earlier in growth, not 24 hours before chop.

So, I think someone saw a plant with a nail in the stalk at harvest, asked the grower 'Why'd you do that?", grower said 'Makes them grow better', and our someone now goes around telling people to put a nail through the plants stalk right before chop to get bigger/better buds.

So, kernel of truth, like I said. We don't use a nail these days though, we just crush the stem between our fingers, and call it Supercropping :D

I'd be more lokely to believe it's pH flucuations.

I aireate all my water and nutes - initally the ph flucuates quite a bit - especially with tap water. Seems to stabilize after a couple adjustments and a couple days.

Using shit like vinegar and citric acid are REALLY bad for flucuations and instability. Not saying vinegar and citric acid are bad - just not stabilw.

I would almost buy the fact that it could cause more fluctuations....when you have a relatively small amount of water, then the smallest leaf falling into the res can cause it to fluctuate...if you have like 200 gallons then its more tolerable to that very small leaf....I learned this from aquariums...small aquarium is more sensitive than giant ones...so pumping atmospheric air through the res with an air pump basically exposes more surface area of the water to whatever is in the air right??? seems feasible...but I don't really know, just trying to think of it logically..

I think thats why it takes a few days for the ph to stabilize....the water is rinsing the inside of the res and the roots and those things are affecting it..

Point Number 1 is definately believeable and I believe correct. This is a method i learned from BOG which i know he has been using since atleast the days of OG. As for boiling the roots i have heard of it being done but would not suggest it. I have also heard of people putting the roots in a cordial mixture for 24 hours prior to harvest. Supposed to give the buds good taste but i never tried. anyone care to shed any light?
