~SNOWBOARDERS~

I agree, I like regular bindings myself. To me it seems like flow bindings are much more popular with people that are lazy and think it gonna be easier for them to strap in. You see them being used in demo fleets sometimes. They must have some appeal because they have been copied by K2. They have a killer team that is one of the best out there, so they must work.

nah frank havent heli boarded. I cant afford it by myself....and getting a group to go always falls out....kinda like the whistler trip i had planned. But yes it is on my list.
BUT....that doesnt go without saying....I always hike in the beginning of the season and get some epic runs on mountains like you see in the films. Turnigan pass and thompson pass(outside valdez)always get hammered on early in the season....and they have some of the best steep and deep runs ive ever been on.
I wasnt able to get any good pics at aly this last sun....there was real flat light and it was snowing pretty hard....but none the less....i had a killer time....conquered my first chute without bustin my ass.
As for the flows....i been ridin them for 3 years. And anyone sayin they can strap in faster with regs....is smokin some horseshit weed. Im right next to the skiers off the lift....my ass never hits the snow. But really its not a competition thing....its convienience for me. Quick and easy and most of the time i do it on the lift ride up. Its a whole different level of comfort as well. There arent 2 pressure points over your foot.....rather...one pressure point that spreads over your whole foot. I seem to have a high arch in my feet....so after a hard days ridin of 8 hours....my feet hurt like hell. They NEVER hurt anymore. I dont really like the newest flows....because they implemented that x strap....and that seems to go backwards from where i thought they would go. I like the wide pads personally. And once you adjust them to your feet...you dont have to adjust them the rest of the season.

edit....on a sidenote....check out 'last ascent' ....its got shaun white, ross powers, farmer....riding in ak....its good stuff....nothin but ak ridin....shaun white was scared shitless.

If you liked that movie you should check out "Lines." It's the history of riding in in Ak from more or less the beginning. It has a bunch of great old footage. Lots of first descents.

It's dumping outside my window right now....Make me wish it was fall not spring. It's been snowing/raining/hailing for the last few days. Right now it's just huge fluffy flakes. If it keeps up maybe a pow turn or two will be made tomorrow....

So who's getting ready for the season? It's snowing all over the country and there are resorts open just about everywhere. I was gonna go up today, but the snow turned to rain. Has anyone gone out yet?

bahahahaha, wow i am baked, i just started typing this in the "4word games"...

I can't wait. The snowgods are the only gods i pray too and even then i don't take it too seriously. I have only been 4 or 5 times my whole life, and 2 of those were over 10 years ago... only once in the past 5.

in my opinion.. there is NOTHING more majestic than standing on the top of a mountain, looking out on a snow covered slope, then sliding off the lip and decending as fast as you can to the bottom (now granted, the last time I did this I got a deep tissue bruise in my shoulder that took 8 months to heal.. and still gives me problems...)

I hope all my fellow borders have a kickass season!

Here are some shots to get you all pumped. :headbange They are all from Jermey Joneses Blog. It has some of the most amazing photos on it. I highly suggest you check it out. They are basically Old Man Time's back yard which gives us all a reason to hate him. :D

They make great wallpapers too. I'm not sure how to past them bigger or I would. If you click on them they'll get bigger. :joint:

Yeah the planes should make it easier to get there. I'll be creeping around there for part of the winter. Gotta love the sun there......and curse that damn wind that never seems to go away.

Just saw the thread so I am chiming in! Right Coast (currently) boarder of 22 years. Grew up on old school burton airs and moved out west for 11 years to MT, WY, ID where the real riding. I ride in NH, ME and VT so I am sure our paths will cross. Anybody been shredding on the east coast yet? Just dipped into some Sour D x 99 wake and bake

Ill be heading back up tomorrow. We got about 6-8 inches down at see level here, so up top at the pass....there should be tons of new snow. Last weekend was sick....dropped my first cornice..but really windy. We had to build a makeshift windblock with our boards and packed snow just to get out of the wind to smoke a joint. Thats what its all about folks.

Just saw this thread. Perfect.

Started boardin' at 30. First season-Tahoe, Utah, Chile (Termas De Chillan). Yearly trips to Utah-PC 3xs, The Canyons, Snowbird-2x,and Brighton. I got to do Colorado last year (the MJ pic) and that place is sick. Highest 6pack high speed chair in north america. dumped us off at 12K feet...

I am a marijuana smoker with a snowboarding problem.

I keep a pass at Heavenly-and just got my Epic pass in the mail.
I keep my mom at Heavenly-I scattered her ashes atop Sky Express chair. I thought it was only fitting..
I tell my sons-"ride hard...granny is watching..."

I'm pretty freakin fired up about breakin these new Flow FXT FR bindings in.

I'm about to have my first trip of the season, it's been a slow start but mt bachelor has been getting a lot of snow, I'm not really regretting missing a trip to tahoe a couple weeks ago, areas were barely open. Santa brought me a arbor element 161 with forum republic bindings and some 32 ultralights.
