thundurkel, the sweet spot for urkle is about 8" under 1k's and yeild 12-16 grams on top of that you need to build a nice lil root system be for flowering....(10day veg)
maybe with cfl's it will reach more and can get that down to 5-7" all be keeping a eye on the thread.... i have worked with urkle for a few yr's now .......

So today is the start of week 2 for my first Urkel or Grand Daddy clone I'm thinking it's GDP since it's already going and Urkel would still be at 2 inches...

Well u's in luck I have played with GDP & grape ape just as long as urkle I also played with that pk cut that u might get a mom of....

Urkle is a lower yeild then GDP & GA but kill's both in crystly stickyness grape & GDP will give u nug's as long as your keyboard once you get them tune'd urkle won't unless u veg a lil longer (15-20days) from 8-10" clone's .... Of the 3 grape is my fav .... Urkle don't yeild GDP not as good of smoke as the other two.

Let urkle go 70 or so days
if its GDP u can cut around 63-65
cold room don't help them purp up it only hurts yeild they do it on there own

Thanks to the rest of you that have lurked through my thread weather you posted or not, I'm learning more and more each day and I'm designing a low budget Stealth Box to put on the market after I build a few and test them out and trust me they will be cheap! and all you will need to do is fill them with CFL's

Hey there Queen of the Buds haha things are going ok, I think I should have gone with a different strain than a short purple but thats what Thunder Goo and my new Maui Waui Tutti Fruity clone that I'm making a mom right now so in the next few weeks I will have all kinds of flavors!

So heres the Urkle or Grand Daddy clone at the end of 2 weeks on 12/12 and I don't think she's going to stretch anymore so I know that 2 inches is not the sweet spot for this strain..




I should have NL#5 real soon and I know the Doc said anything with that in it is great for this method...

But you may get a little more in the next week...I was wondering if maybe I might need to distant my plants from the lights by maybe 8 " in the first two weeks? to get them to the size I want? Im not too sure Blackfoot about that 8 inches away I don't see why it wouldn't work since lumens are measure from 1 foot away... Shit give it a go and let me know if it helps your stretch...

Great job! Everything looks happy as can be, my friend. Only thing I can comment on is your "Carpet Muncher" seems like it may be experiencing some drooping due to over watering as well as the nute-burn you spoke of. What does your medium consist of? Perhaps you should consider adding alittle more perlite to your soil-mix for more aeration, or going alittle lighter on the next watering. Either way, a very impressive documentation of the micro-SOG technique, keep up the good work Thundurkel.

looking real good man! ya guessing stretch can be a pain, i greatly underestimated the stretch of mine this time. moving the bulbs away a bit would help them stretch some but it may also make them stretch too much making internode spacing a bit longer. i think it would be a fine balance on the distance choice and your w/sqft. keep it up thundurkel, that cab should be full in no time.

The stretching is being discussed right now on the "dr. buds for dummies" thread and I am kind of confused. They are stating that the doc does the following:


"Light Mounting:

The idea behind this is simple, in Dr.B’s SOG style grow you want to incorporate the stretch into the grow. This is achieved by mounting the lights at a height where the plants finish growing within inches of the lights. Currently, Dr.B flowers his clones at 2-3 inches and they finish at approx. 14in (Chesaw strain). A trial and error bases is required to find the ideal height for your strain/pheno type.

Special note:

Q. Doc, I believe you said your flower box was 28" tall (?) Since your lights are fixed do you elevate the individual pots when they're first placed into the box ?

A. Yup' they sit on some 4" pots that are about 5 Inches tall for about 7-10 days when they first go in"



So given the above it would seem that you would want to put the new clones about 2 feet from the lights when they first go in and then after about 7-10 days move them back about 5 inches. I assume the sweet spot would then be the height of the clones you put in, 2", 3", 4", etc. To find the correct height to accomplish this one could simply put in 6 different clones at say 2" to 8" and watch to see which one finishes up at the intended height.

does that make sense to anyone else...i am really high.

definitely not 2 feet away, his cab is only 28" tall. you are forgetting to account for the bottle size as well. 5" tall pots + ~6-7" tall bottle + 3" clone = ~15" putting the clone top about 1 foot away. once the clone grows up close to the light, he removes the pot giving the clone room to complete the stretch to the light. i wouldn't have a plant any further than 1 ft away from cfls and even that is a lot if you dont know exactly what your strain will do. a real stretchy sativa put that far away will stretch like crazy, maybe more than you want decreasing the amount of budsites and increasing internode spacing.
