I doubt the OP is a salesman for Hakko, this idea has been runnin around the glass forums at another place for several years. Basically, someone started ripping apart soldering irons once Phedor came out with their product until they found one w/ a ceramic element. Once they found it, they told everyone else, the brand that person found just happened to be Haako. Shit even Weller makes Ceramic Element Irons, but do you really want to pay 3X the price?

Also, as someone else had mentioned, if you prefer to go cordless: they make cordless, butane powered soldering irons.....

is that a joke or is that serious? i have heard of people using pot-modded green laser pointers to spark bowls... i'm not certain how safe that is since if you got laser in your eye you = fucked

Hello all,

I rub two sticks together until there are embers to light my bong with.

But I like the laser idea also.

The ceramic soldering iron is a good idea except you have to keep it heated or wait till it gets hot.

Instantanious heat is what I am looking for.

Much like alternative fuels for cars...if I can't go from zero to 60 very quickly I don't want to use it.

Just a thought.

Then you wouldn't be tethered to the wall and could smoke outside.

And props to whoever brought up the point about burning your face; soldering irons are a bit unwieldy to use near your eyes, nose, and mouth. Those things get hella-hot and take a while to cool down. It's not quite like letting go of a button to stop the burning...

i find it pretty funny that in every milk shot picture the kid is still lighting the weed... guess what man, you are supposed to light it briefly... not until the hit is over.
