Guerilla Gold Guerilla Grow in Ontario '08

Hi there

I figured I better get a grow log started for myself. Mainly to keep track of dates and details. And of course to show off my grow to all you ic maggers. Get ready for lots of pics!

As the title says, I'll be growing Guerilla Gold #2 in a few separate guerilla plots in extreme northwest Ontario. I did the same last year but plan to go bigger and better this year with more plants and more sunshine.

I got 9 little seedlings started in my box safely out last week.

After a week climatizing to the great outdoors. They stretched out quite a bit but I left them in a partly shady area for a few days in hopes that the sun wont burn them

and another 9 ready to go into the box for a week or 2 head start for round 2

Nice plants, I have some of Greens gear also. I went to check on them today and two of the males were already showing. This is my first time growing GG but if thats anything to go by the should be some fast finishers I cant wait to see the females take off.

Have you grown them before and how do you like them if you have?

hey hey some action already

thanks Mr Smoke. im really excited for this season

yeah hamstring, amazing you already have males showing but yeah, some nice and early finishers id reccomend to anybody

I grew out the same seeds last year. I only finished 3 females but the smoke was great. Early and a decent yeild too for where i was growing them. I had a similar titled thread last year if your interested

Today, I took out 5 seedlings and started 6 beans straight into the dirt in a bedding plant flat to what I will call The Sunshine Plot

I found this spot as the end of last season. Im in the Canadian Sheild, so good grow spots are hard to come by. Rock everywhere. This spot is on the top of a little plateau overlooking a small lake. I found this sort of swampy area where lots of grasses and moss were redily growing. I dug this up to find little topsoil. So i hauled in numerous back packs of sunshinemix #4, peat moss, sheep manure and compost.

It takes me about 30 minutes when im carrying something to make it there through some pretty thick forest. Lots of this

And this...

So heres how it used to look.

After some work with the trusty machete

A quick peek at the soil im fairly happy with

And now the plants. Caged in of course. Deer are a major problem around here

And the rest went to Last Years Plot. Definitley not full sun but i was fairly pleased with what i came out with last year. Its not as far of a hike as the others which is nice but not the most secure

I made a bed out of some fallen logs, sticks and such and filled it with much the same mix as before and popped 3 in there

And found a spot where i managed to dig a hole for the stretchy plant im guessing is a male

good to see some interest! thanks for all the well wishes

And as for my last spot, Im not entirely sure I'll make it to planting there but i know i should. It about another 15 minute hike from my Sunshine plot on the edge of the small lake in a marshy type area. Ive only scoped it out once, so i gotta get working if i want to use it.

I think ive found myself a sphagnum moss swamp marsh bog type area. Every step you take, you sink way into the moss. I got my shoes drenched by the time i was done exploring. Rubber boots will be a must. Its almost like a giant floating island. Lots of open areas for sunlight interspersed with thin pine trees, I dont think light will be a problem.

Nice looking GG plants, bongasaurus. It looks like you are off to a good start! Make sure to start a thread over at UDG because I have a Photo Contest going on over there. There are three categories to win some GG beans for next season.

Cool Bongasaurus, your last spot looks a bit like 2 of my spots, well except its a HELL of a lot easier to walk through. You gonna be using pots in it? Planning on having the bog water the plants? I was thinking of burying 5 gallon buckets into it to keep the babies cool and hydrated.

Interested in seeing how this turns out as I tried to try GG, but bad germ ratios and bad luck left no live seedlings.

once again, thanks everyone

buddle - thats what im hoping for!

thanks greens. i cant seem to get my head around the pics at UDG... ill have to figure it out soon

you know thell be lots of pics zathir

sow the seeds - i find it odd you had bad germination with the GG. ive had nothing but success with the GG#2's. of the 20 or so ive started this year, all but 2 germinated in paper towels. and i threw the ones that didnt into pots aswell and one came up.

im still not entirely sure about the swamp plot. im going to check it out again this weekend. i think im going to opt for pots with no bottoms. or at least tons of holes. i got my hands on some big pots from trees that i think should be about perfect. im just not sure if i should only put one in each pot...

I've heard of other people with success germing GG as well but not mine. They took a while to reach me so maybe sitting in a post office for a while in who knows what conditions affected them.

I am gonna try GG (possibly even this year) again for sure though as people seem to love it.

Good luck with the season I'll be reading along with this one. :rasta:
