Skarecrow - Thanks for stopping by and checking out the thread. If you have any questions about the system, let me know. This is the third variation of my 8 waterfarms, and it is getting pretty close to be dialed in as a system (recirculation, temperature & automation).

Chief - You have to love the waterfarms indeed. They are such a simple and pure system. Yes, the drip rings have clogged after extended use. The clog actually occurs at the base of the air line where it connects to the straw and not in the rings themselves. These can be cleaned very easily, but you have to know what to look for.

Headies - I would guess that the electric costs $60-75 a month to run about 1200 watts (1K plus 200 CFL for mothers/clones) of lights and 600 watts of accessories.

CG - Thanks for tagging the thread. There are going to be some fat ass trees in there soon - so stay tuned... :rasta:

Don - Hey man. The roots do look really good and they are growing like crazy. I will post some more pics from the same plant in few days. I like big trees, and I like big buds. So, why not grow big trees with big buds!!!!! :biglaugh:

Hey Chief. Yea, it took me a while to figure it out myself. At first, I thought it was clogged rings and then the air pump line. After a close inspection, I saw the light brown funk clogging the base.

Day 1 Flowering

I changed the bulb to my Eye Hortilux 1K with my switchable ballast and added the timers for 12/12. I also added a 150 watt HPS to give more light to the three small strawberry haze clones. So I am now running 1150 watts of HPS. I will add another couple hundred watts of CFL for side and bottom lighting before this is through.

Here is my current feed schedule at ph 5.5:

6 ml Flora Grow
6 ml Flora Micro
10 ml Flora Bloom
20 ml Diamond Nectar
.1 tsp Epsom Salt

The plants having been growing 1-2 inches a day for the last week and are really getting huge. I can not wait for the ladies to stretch into some trees. The plants are now 22-26 inches tall and growing tons to shoots. There are going to be lots of fat colas before too long. Stay tuned...

Lots of pics coming in a few days.

WFF,You gotta check out this thread about Foafs tree, it's unbelivable. A 7 foot giant that yeilded 4lbs. He has some great ideas about light use-placement. He also has some detailed drawings about his setup. You may get some ideas from it, It's the largest indoor tree grow-yeild I've ever seem!!!!!!!

Finally, here are some shots of the roots from a plant.

Those roots look nice and healthy. Good job!

I am curious about something: what do you plan to do with the 3 clones in the one Waterfarm? I put 3 plants in each WaterFarm too, but only because I grow from seed and and rip out 2 of the plants, leaving one female per WF. I think it would be crowded to have 3 plants growing in one WF.

Please share with us your plans/rationale for it.

Don - I stumbled upon Foafs thread a couple of months ago. That was an incredible grow and brilliant setup!!! You are absolutely right that about his light placement.

I add clip on CFLs (42 watts) to bottoms and sides of the plants to provide additional light. Foaf took this to a whole different level using 100 watt CFLs in cool tubes.

Krusty - Very good question. This is my first time growing three plants in a single bucket. I have grown 2 plants per bucket on three occasions, and they have all grown into huge plants.

My rationale for adding three Arjan's Strawberry Haze clones is that I wanted to keep the plants small and still get a decent amount of bud. They grew to 6-7 feet with a month veg under 1k MH last grow. So, this grow I just vegged a week, and I expect them to only get 4-5 feet and not dominate the stars of the show - Blueberry x Afghani.

Progression To Date - 5 Weeks

Week 1 - These were just transplanted to the WaterFarms and are 5 weeks from seed.

Week 2 - There are 11 plants that have not been sexed yet.

Week 3 - I sexed the plants and removed 4 males leaving 7 females.

Week 4 - They are starting to blow up.

Week 5 - Here is a picture from today.

These pictures were all taken exactly 7 days apart. Hydro kicks all kind of ass!!!!!!!

Hmmm... This is an interesting way to grow in WF's. Do you know your grams-per-watt from grows done in such a manner? My best is .39 growing 2 plants, 1 per WaterFarm, under a 400W HPS, tree style, minimal LST.

For the sake of comparing apples to apples, have you ever grown 2+ plants in a WaterFarm under a 400W lamp? If so, what was your yield?

In any event, keep up the good work!

Hey Krusty. Thanks for the comments. I have not measured the grams per watt per plant and I have only used 1K lights. The waterfarms let you grow an insane amount of roots - so I think that there will room for 3 medium sized plants.

I had some clones that were ready and I wanted to use all of the buckets. I am sure that I will get the same yield as two slightly bigger plants or 1 larger plant, but we will see. I max out my growing space which is 4x5x8 - so there is only so much room for the 10 plants that are currently growing.

BOOOYAA! I just love how plants show such explosive growth in hydro! WWF have you ever thught about doing any type of training to allow extra light into the canopy?Do you make your own net pots? I was thinking a hollow tree so the center buds would be denser, sort of a drop, spread and tie cleaning out the center. King of a scrog without the screen. I'm getting ready to thin out the center this week, 12 days 12/12.

The ladies are starting to stretch and alternate nodes under the 1K HPS. They are now about 36 inches tall and really filling out.

Here is my current feed schedule at ph 5.5:

3 ml Flora Grow
7 ml Flora Micro
14 ml Flora Bloom
5 ml Floralicious Bloom
10 ml Diamond Nectar
1 ml PH Up

Here are some pics from today. 4 days since the last pics.

Hey Don. Yep hydro growth is just crazy. Once the roots get adjusted, the plants just explode. I only start training once I establish where my canopy is going to end up. I do a combo of supercropping and lst to keep the canopy even and allow maximum light exposure to the buds.

WFF, Krusty, DC, and others I have a question for the users of this system. How does the water not overflow the buckets from the res? I want to switch to this particular from my bio-bucket style but am worried about the overflow issue(if it is an issue at all) I also want to know if you think it would be more beneficial to just go out and buy a WF system($200 for 8 buckets/controller on craigslist) or build my own. I have built other systems and I am pretty handy so skill wouldn't be as much of a factor as benefit. Thanks to you all for your help and WFF those are gonna be monsters!!! You got some arborist genetics in your blood for real!!! Peace!
