I you travel with ANY pot you should have a Bell or Escort built in detector( 1500 to 2000). I have to say At $1500 it is well worth it. The range and since of awareness it gives you is priceless. The built in performs so much better than the $400, window version with out the visible foot print.

why freak yourself out by hearing a buzzer in your car alerting you that a cop is ahead? Drive the speed limit and be a heads up driver.

Lil Wayne,

First, you can travel the speed limit and cops will still pull you over. If you have ever traveled I-10 or I-20 east of Atlanta then you would definately know. Cops will pull you over saying that you were speeding and you could have had your car on cruise control (50mph) the whole trip. Don't be naive! All the stories of traffickers in the US being busted!!! DO YOU THINK THEY WERE SPEEDING??? LOL.

You gotta love these forums, wise up growers, WISE UP!

I would better hear of using truckers (18 wheelers) or driving with escorts than to be as naive as to hear don't drive over the speed limit... The blind leading the blind is...

YOU GOT IT!

Yeah but what's the point of having a radar detector if they are going to pull you over anyway...

it gives you that extra 10-60 seconds to go over your cover story. hell those things work well enough that you could avoid the cop completely if you are on residential streets.

Damned straight there is a big article in our local rag this week with with pics...
a bust in 2 industrial units...100 in one 200 in the other busted as a result of a tip from a man walking a dog, who saw the grow through an open door(the man not the dog-I guess lol) and promptly acted like a good little drone and informed the fuzz.
Keep ur shit together...dont do stoooopid fucking stuff like leaving doors open-or even having ur grow in such a situation that it could even be seen if the door was open...i mean fuck.
Im glad ppl as stupid like that exist coz it keeps most of the heat off the rest of us

Factory tint is low key and the best quality tinted glass. Many mini vans come standard with tinted windows from factory. The front windshield, drivers side, and passenger side windows are not tinted though.
Off topic? How does a commercial grower haul commercial sized grow stuff around?

Tinted Front and side windows..even factory installed is illegal in my state.

Get your self a Step Van, the all Aluminum Grumman is a sturdy choice, Have a Logo like Big Jimbos Diaper Service painted on both sides.

Fun travel

Fun travel

I travel all over the country, of course its January, and in out of Canada . I have been pulled over but never had a problem( ok the need for speed in Montana).
I finally do not fit the profile so life has changed for the better.

I Did find out not to drive in the fast lane outside of California and only go through the south traveling East to West.

Well I like the radar to know if a cop is around. The built in ones have a handy mute button and a LED .It also lets me know if the are hunting or just passing by The Lazar jammer DOES work. Tinted window for a reason are not a problem. In 2002 I had a fun conversation with a Park ranger and a High power rifle( Orange alert). As usually I always roll all window down when going through a check point. They tried to look through the back widow, but could not see a thing . Finally realized the back windows were rolled down. He asked why so dark of a tint. I told him I'm in the food biz and my Clients do not like to see items in a car. Out side the million dollar homes

Also a funny Story in North Carolina with a rookie cop. A 2 year old car with no plates on it( just bought it before a trip). Cali gives you a small piece of paper to put in the window. I saw this young cop turn around and follow me to a gas station. I got out with my paper work in hand. He asked where my plater were. I told him this piece of paper was my temp from California. He asked if I knew what my plate was going to be I said Yes. He then told me the dumbest idea I ever heard. He suggested I write it out on Cardboard. I looked at this rookie cop and told him If I saw a cardboard plate I would pull that car over, then when the paper work did not match haul my ass off to jail. He laughed and said I had a point. He also warned that in the next state they might take my car with no plates. A very scary drive but a call in the am to the state trouper office and found out the rookie had no clue.

Not saying I'm hauling pounds but it pays of when you get to past the profile stage. I have smoked in 47 out of 50 with my wife on the road. Looking forward to knocking the rest off this January.

I got to ask since I have not heard this before. You said the top radar logs speed and position and can be used in court. How exctly does it record the info and is it tamper proof? Also is this what the unit is for, to protect you from the police saying your speeding when your not?

Sorry for the questions, it just sounds cool to be able to protect yourself as such. Now all you need is a camera to record you and the cops conversation with a view inside the car and out. That would be so cool and a cop would be screwed if violating your rights like they do so often. You would just need to have the video safe from being taken, such as a hard drive under the dash or something else as stealth. I wonder if a system like this could be marketed? Who knows, probably already is and I don't know it. If not may be I'll market it and become rich lol! Ya - I know, wishful thinking.

Ok, interesting guys, here's my input:

Harry Gyp - of course, never give anyone the chance to see a grow

About travelling fully loaded, so to speak, this is what I think:

- check all lights work properly

- don't have any dents or visible damage

- drive something discrete, not flashy or powerful, and not too new or old. Pick a boring colour if you can, and definately not a bright colour like yellow, lol....and no tinted windows in my book (in the UK especially, but in many other countries too....best not to have them imo)

- have all documentation ready at all times if cased you get pulled (note in UK, this could be suspicious, as it's not a legal requirement to carry docs, apart from driving licence (and counterpart people!)) --- you get a Producer which requires you to produce the docs at the station within 7 days

- don't drive too slow or fast, and too slow in a cop's eyes is the speed limit - most people drive at least 10% faster, so why stand out?

- have a radar/gps if you like, but if you're doing a deal, turn OFF the GPS as it will record your journey, and can be used as evidence in court

- also TURN YOUR PHONE OFF! as these records can and are used in court to prove you were at the deal location

- if pulled over, act respectful and like a good citizen, but also calm (slow breaths through the nose before speaking to them helps slow your heart down and gives oxygen to the brain), but don't overdo the innocent act - you don't want to raise alarm bells. Talk at a normal speed - maybe concentrate on talking a bit more slowly, because you're bound to talk fast if nervous...raising more alarms

- don't have any police friendly or religious stickers/artifacts on your car, like the fish, these are invitations to be pulled

- have your vehicle checked over regularly, so you minimise the risk of a breakdown. If a breakdown does occur, have a back-up plan and don't get stuck in the middle of no-where with a car loaded up, and no escape plan. A good idea would be to have someone tail you from 1/4-1/2 mile behind, blending in with traffic

Peace

Great list. On the GPS you just need to turn off the track feature. That way it does not log where you have been.

You list is great but there is one I can't believe people do and that is.
Drive with expired license plate tags,.

Also before I travel I have the car detailed inside and out. I would rather tip the detailer for finding that stash bag than a cop. Also the clean carpet keeps that I smell pot thing down.( I'm in cali were we get a bit lax)

Do not have Ozium and spray just before you get pulled over.

Cigarettes are a nice cover in the ashtray

With the new PG&E program it's a tough call. Seams there is some target program for people zoned residential but pay an above normal high of 1500.00 a high bill . But if you have a commercial space you have a commercial space you have inspections.

Funny thing is that just as outdoor is tanking the Powers to be figured just how to put the hold on indoors now.

Yes Sumo, way, way off topic mate, this is meant to be Commercial growers talking about tinted windows

... still, if nobody minds .... moving stuff around..

I would get some packaging materials, cardboard boxes, brown tape, delivery notes etc. Pack it into a van in front of neighbours, LEO, whoever you want, it looks straight, you believe it is straight, carry on with no worries. If you have carelessly left unwrapped bits around in front of people you will never know if you have aroused suspicion and may not find out till it is too late.

Take great care and do the job properly.

As BB says, a cool car is VIP.... I like "family man" cars ... sensible Pipe and Slippers brigade stuff, men in these have usually grown up and are far less likely to be involved in any criminal activity. Likewise your appearance, people are more likely to think I am a Policeman, not a Stoner, I rarely get stopped and never searched or drug tested, quite handy the other day when I got tugged in a routine pull on the Autopista exit. I was nice, spoke Spanish and my manner, car and appearance meant I was not even asked for my documents or if the new TV box in the back had anything more interesting in it.

the shipping idea is great IMO. what kind of cop is going to suspect that something you just picked up from the Post Office would have drugs in it? (or are about to drop off)

for added bonus, ship an empty box from somewhere to somewhere, and use it the DAY you pick up the empty box, this way the shipping stuff is legit and up to date.

I think it all comes down to the fact that if you are smart enough to do most of these things, you aren't going to get pulled over to begin with.

I think the best idea is try to create a false profile for the cop.

Computer parts in your car, you are wearing glasses and a geek shirt (you know one of those linux ones you can buy at thinkgeek.com) make sure to have a laptop in your car, etc etc. This would also help with teh whole being nervous in the car in front of the cop. (at least he would believe that, anti-social = nervous @ authority figures)

hell if you really want to win at the game, make sure you KNOW the cops, volunteer for the local police station, help them raise money etc etc. (better yet if you have cops that are relatives)

I have been researching commercial for a while, here is some disparate information I came up with

one way to keep out of harms reach is not to become a viable target

I mean in regards to being a "solid" target. All branches of law enforcecment have to justify their actions. Keeping your grow from being a "worthy bust" in the eyes of law enforcement is important. Owning assets that can be siezed to cover the costs is big. If they have to investigate you for a year there is a cost involved. They have to justify it with a big bust.

When they get a tip they hav eto investigate you this MAY take some time

DO NOT OPERATE IN THE SAME LEO JURISDITION FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME

every bust I read normaly says, "and they were under investigation for x years" like the pot cave in missouri(or tenessee)?? 8 years they were investigated.

LEO cannot leave their juristdiction to investigate you

in regards to retirement, I was told that there are residential growers who search specifically for rent with option to buy rental homes. They grow for a year and roll the money into the house and rent it out. Perhaps in a multi house residential grow this is viable.

market research

I researched both residential and commercial locations, I called a some commericial locations. Talked to a broker and I told him i have business license and work with computers (true) and the brokers told me verbatim, 'good, cause we get bikers looking to grow pot in out warehouses regularly'

i am on the east coast 1 1/2 hours from NYC in the suburbs

I would think the people under investigation for more than a few months are under the DEA or some other federal task force. Then that can be easily transferred to another office.

As far as warehouses go, I think you got an odd comment. I have rented plenty of warehouses and never got that comment or hint. I even rented a commercial warehouse for personal reasons and it was never questioned.
