day 19 bloom

day 19 bloom

Almost at the end of stretch here, and things have turned the corner with ease. Flushed the mediums, changed the reservoir, and adjusted watering frequencies (down). Plants are basically back on track, but the damage is done to the right side GDP table. Still hoping to pull something out of it, it'll yeild.

First up is the front of the room. Everything is looking pretty good, except this "purps" strain... really lacking and making all sorts of fussy business.. bah. This could be due to a shocking and terrible discovery I made this morning, The valve to feed the E&G buckets was left closed. This has been closed for 8 days, they have not recieved a flood in 8 damn days!!!! But shit, you can barely tell... thank jebusmonkeys that these "hydrocells" have a 1.5-2" water holding cell on the bottoms. This 2" of stagnant standing water allowed them to survive through this bigass blunder.. oops! so many things can go wrong in a growroom, I was off my game from being so relaxed in Belize:rasta:
9807roomB.JPG

And the purps in subject...she shore is turning purple right out of the gate though...nice! She will get another run before I axe her from my stable. Ya always get 2 chances with me, sometimes more ;p

9807eg19.JPG

The verticle lamp is kicking this round, I have some typically low yeilders in there, so it'll probably not be that big verticle yeild I am looking for, but this allows me to run some tester strains and taste their organic smoke to make informed decisions if the strains will make it to my tables/buckets. I am real happy with everything in here, my Organic mix this round was too hot and many of the strains are showing that dark dark evergreen, and some have the claw bad(Triangle). In here are 1 Big Shiva, 2 Grapes, and 5 Triangle. Pure water from the gate so far, and looking like they will not need a single liquid fertilizer. Using a product called "Rainbow Grow" these days, all the majik organic ingredients in one easy mix, with mycorhyzzae and BB. I add this at 1 cup per 2cu. ft. bag of FF happy frog. --That's it.
9807vert19.JPG

Close up of 2 Grapes, Great structure so far.. let's hope she tastes like grapes and goes purple eh?
9807Grapes19.JPG

And a closeup of the SR71 Big Shiva, clearly some steller genetics. Really liking her so far, typical indica strucutre, overly stout branches and classic Xmas tree shape. No good aromas in the room yet, too early... unfortunatly.
9807BigShiva19.JPG

And here are my tables, GDP, Blockhead, and SR71 Shuga Shiva (SS#6) on the left table.. this pump did not fail and survived beautifully during my absense. Notice the Shiva Divas in the back, 3 of them planted from clone with only 7 days veg. MONSTERs,
9807gdpblockheadshiva19.JPG

and the right side, 100% Granddaddy Purple, making an OK recovery from pump failure. Probably still get at least an ounce per plant.
9807gdpright19.JPG

And the room shot. Notice the height difference on the GDP tables... doh!

Hiya Neptune
Amazing - excellent bucket design having enough water in the base in case of pump failure - those plants must also be pretty hardy - 8 days on stagnant water - except for the size comparison I wouldn't have known there had been a problem!

I've been wanting to go to Belize - one of these days! I've been told it's the jewel of Central America.

Said it before, I'll say it again - great garden space you have, filled with lovelies:yes:

Hells yeah Neptune! They're looking pretty damn good considering your vacation and the little valve mishap. Sorry to see the purps suffering like that. My current run with them, they did the same thing. I ended up bumping up the feed and they seemed to respond well to it. I told you too, it'll go purple really early on, no matter what the temps are. I definitely would give it another run, maybe on a real small scale so as not to effect your overall yield too much. And besides the little bit of clawing, the triangles are looking good too. I can't wait to see how they finish up for you. I'm hoping that you're getting back into the swing of things and everything else is smooth sailing for the rest of your run. Looking good as always homie.

Neptune Nice friggin room dude, I just read through this whole thread very nice you def know your stuff and you have some beautiful buds, quick question for ya in your coco do you use 10ml PBP( is this grow or bloom?) 3ml CalMag even when you plants are in veg?

thanks budluver, liking your outdoor show this year too! Blue Dragon looks great!

MGJ, as I said bro I love your seedwork and nice clone selections over in the seed thang, I have a pack of GN 03 C99 still waiting for me....damn I have a bunker of seeds come to think of it... before I was even growing I was buying seeds... lol

krome, yeaaa mon.. the triangle looks fierce!! I wish I didn't claw them up, they are the lightest feeders in the room by the looks of things. The mothers I have in veg in the same soil are doing great though (??) weird. I did notice the topped mothers branch out very nicely, do you find this to be a good way to get some extra yeild from her? The topped mothers just look better... i duno how to say it! The purps man, single bladed leaves, super bloom prone... hard to keep them in veg.. almost like they autoflower at the drop of a hat for me. The purple comes out nice and early for sure, but she is a finicky lady so far... gona run 2-4 next time and decide from there. I got other ladies lined up too, so yaknow... can't give toooo many chances. your banana OG is rockin' dude..

neoangin, thx thx!

herbal essences, PBP bloom, and 3ml calmag in veg and bloom yes.

8 days without a flood ? You got a lil' tooo laid back from all that sun, surf & relaxation , lol....back to the rigors of being a ganja farmer!

* Have two pretty new truncheons and noticed that the ppm's weren't increasing as they should the other day as i added more nutes to the rez .... so felt somethin was up . Thought i had cleaned the electrodes just recently but after cleaning them found that i was running 2.8ec and 1400ppms+ instaed of the 800-900 they were indicating !! Well cleanliness always makes the Goddess happy especially when it comes to keeping the tips of those little 'ol electrodes clean . I thought those Hk's were looking pretty dam green , lol....gave em a quick rinse no problemo , lesson learned ....clean those lec'trodes often !

Those Grapes look like they might turn out yummy , nice little puff balls...let the aromas begin !

*I have this one keeper NL/Blueberry out of 12 females that i just wished would be a better yielder. These ladies stay darkest green even if you run em on tap water alone & no ppms ...but have that same puff ball bud formation and the sweetest Blueberry/Honeysuckle flavor/aroma to die for ... dank and fills your mouth with flavor. Just too bad its such a long finisher and so far very limited yield ;o(

Looks like she would be better in a HDsog with that spear shaped low branching stature, but yeah... I tend to keep a few jewels like that around for giggles, just nice to be able to have an elite personal smoke that no one has ever heard of to roll up for friends and blow them away with.. and they think they had some good shit.... nahhhh!!

keeping a working and clean meter is essential! I find I use mine less and less these days, but without one I would surely screw some stuff up.. If you lookback a few threads ago, I used to stress out about constant PH/PPM. These days I find myself only checking ppm/ph if there are problems, and the obligatory check before/after a res change, and sometimes when I am bored.. hehe.

I know 10ml PBPb and 3ml Calmag is going to be ~5.8 PH and about 750ppm... easy as can be! I still use a little Fulvic Acid (F+ from AN) when I think of it. I don't even measure, I just slop in a few tablespoons here and there throughout the 2 weeks of a reservoir's life. It helps keep the PH low, and I've seen enough and read enough good things about Fulvic Acid. I have stopped altogether using any PK boosters also.

The coco tables are on PBPb and calmag, with dash of fulvic.
the e&g buckets are Floranova bloom @8ml/gal(lucas), with dashes of fulvic and some PH down... as the hyroton tends to raise the PH over a week or so.

you should run some verticle lights terran, with buckets like those. :]
back to werk~

well after my mishap in early sept with the hugos (dampening off) and switching over to coco ...i felt like an idiot struggling to put in drip lines on those 5gal cocos yesterday ...what a complete PITA~PITA ~PITA !! . The plants are looking fire in that much coco but those drip lines are way too much for me so today went over to the Hydro depot & its back to r/w 6x6's for me & E&F !!

( but i can say i went coconuts for a while , lol)

Those HK's never really rooted that well in the hugos i had before and they still finished like champs ...what a strain huh? So figure if i really concentrate on rooting them well in the next round should have nothing but fire as a result . Ya know , i tried the Cutilene hugos and they are really much coarser grained than grodan and have much better drainage not to mention cheaper too , so went with those . The Grodans hold far too much water ...they really should rework their weave/structure and make them less soggy .

You're right Nep , that around 700ppms is the right level of nutes (sans tap r/o) with Coco and found that this media really holds in the salts if given to much and built up. Hd one table of girls built up to 1300-1400ppms and took more than a few days of rinsing w/light nutes to get the ppms down again just under 1000<G . So much better to just go with light feedings alll the way for Coco is a biach to rinse out and that is time consuming plus wasteful.

* That Hk is a beauty , totally fire as you said ...not many strains are that tolerant , easy to grow & consistently indestructable with very stellar results .
(still always looking for the holy grail though , lol)

cheers !

;o)

rainbow mix is the bomb, i add it at 1 tbsp per gallon of ocean forest and my plants couldnt be happier. looking forward to seeing more from the e&f buckets, keep it up.

What's up folks, I been slacking this week.. I'll get some updates in next week for sure. Things are looking really great, all the plants have turned the corner and are starting the budpack. The stunted GDP table is recovering amazingly well, I got little 18" footballs forming !! :)

inline, rainbow mix is very nice but can be too hot for some strains. I burned my Triangles with it this run, so I will cut my general mix down by half, and apply liquid organic feeds to plants asking for more (in soil).

vinny, good to see you around and good luck on your quest !

Terran, would be nice to see you around the sr71 strains thread brother.. I know you have some good photos of their gear! Hindu Skunk is a Tyrant, she's so bossy in the grow room.. slaping all my other hoes up. damn, be cool bitch!

Alright, skipped a week but I'm still here. Here's some updates room pictures, and some details about the strains.

First the tables, Everything is looking good, but I am wishing I didn't run so many testers all the time ;) I can't help myself! The testers really screw up the flow of the canopy and total crop efficiency. The right side GDP table that had a pump failure is looking about as expected, short little footballs.
9807tables32.JPG

Here's the right side, very uniform. (no testers)
9807gdp32r.JPG

and the left side, (2 Blockheads, 2 Shiva#6).
9807gdp32L.JPG

The blockhead is a very explosive bloomer, I am quite pleased with her and will keep more mothers for future runs. The bud production is massive, and the resin production is keeping up with the best. She is as slow as GDP in veg, however.

Blockhead
9807bh32.JPG

9807bh322.JPG

9807bh323.JPG

And the Shuga Shiva (SS#6), There were 3 back here but she stretched and branched so much that I placed the other one on the GDP table to give them all more room, and a chance to see their true yeilding potential when unhindered. Sofar, they get a B+ which is an F in my classes. Must work harder girls... final exams coming up, do not dissapoint. :spank:
SR71 SS#6
9807SS32.JPG

The verticle light is doing better this crop, aside from the Nitrogen overfeed from my hot organic mix. I am really liking the Triangles in here, I have some good plans for them next round in this spot.

Verticle, with lables.
9807vert32.JPG

Triangle, aka "The White", is very frosty and spindley, looking to be a medium yeilder. She sure packs on the resin for only 32 days though... I am sure this is a plant that needs high density SOG to reveal her full potential.
9807triangle32.JPG

SR71 Big Shiva, holding my judgement yet as she is surely representing her name. I am told she is done by 42-46 days and yeilds very well. So far looking/smelling like your typical BigBud with no flares or whistles... but that's why one would grow this strain anyway, yeild and speed and she's got both, no doubt.
SR71 Big Shiva
9807BS32.JPG

9807BS322.JPG

9807BS323.JPG

9807BS324.JPG

Last but not the least, Ebb & Grow, the pump valve was accidentally left in the closed position after working on a res change (how many of you have done this too.. haha.. I bet everyone has!). so, they recieved no irrigations for 8 days. They are definatly stunted from that, but I consider it a miracle that they look as good as they do.... 8 days no water, just sipping off the pools in the bottom of each individual bucket.
9807eg32.JPG

Here's a strain called Purps, doing it's thang..
9807purps32.JPG

9807purps322.JPG

9807purps323.JPG

and Hindu Skunk @32 days, my new standard by which all plants are judged. If anyone remembers that old CARE Pot of Gold (Skunk #1 X Hindu Kush) that I used to grow, this one reminds me so much of her.. except the POG was better hands down. It's too bad I lost her, she mutated on me bigtime, became a flarf strain within a year.

Anyway, here is that Hindu Skunk. She can dance...

Nep: lookin like it is jammin in there, nice variety but i hear ya, sometimes its nice to just go with a proven strain and get uniformity/consistency. I'm rethinking my veg times and pot size lately, getting too much stretch in coir, on drip, even from strains (kush) that aren't supposed to, thinkin they are veggin too long....what advice in general do you have to reduce stretch? I seem to either get em too short (full on sog) or too tall and no inbetween. Do you top any of those girls or rely entirely on numbers/spacing to get that density?

Beautiful set of updates Neptune! Glad to see things rocking out so well. I'm glad to see that the blockhead isn't disappointing. I guess I never realised how slow the blockhead was until I vegged it side by side with the notoriously slow GDP. They were definitely neck and neck. That would have to be my only negative to say about it. You've got the triangles looking damn good too if you ask me. Looks like they do well in the verticle setup. I think you're on the money though. Very short veg, high number SOG would probably be the way to get the best out of this strain. The purps is looking as pretty as ever but I'm pretty sure she won't stack up compared to the gdp. Just doesn't get the thickness that we like. We'll see how it turns out for you though. The hindu skunk is as pretty as ever. Did you keep the SCBB around? You've always got things looking tip-top and this is no different. Keep it up bro and all the best.

Krome,
The SCBB and BDSSH are still in the E&G mix, aswell as Purps, Hindu Skunk, and a cut called "Gangster" which is very nice, but I won't be keeping unless she turns into a pixie and makes me see the goddess, or something similar. The BH really is neck to neck with the GDP on the leftside table, but man does she ever throw out some fat leaves!! I really want to remove some, but I just can't! Triangle is great, I am thinking 12-16 1gal coco pots under a 600w, topped from clone and vegged 14-17 days. I don't have enough for a whole table thopugh, so I am thinking what else I can run under the 2nd 600w that would do well with this style... hm! Purps is Purps, nothing bad to say about it yet... you know we love purple weed out here :p

Aeric,
The best way to keep your plants low and uniform is to veg them properly for the height you wish them to finish at, this is mostly achieved by knowing your strain.. or some very good guesswork backed by years of experience with dozens of strains. The former is always a working technique. Second, keep the room on the cool side during stretch periods, week 1-3. Hot temps will elongate your stretch. Do what you can to keep temps ~75F with lights on, and 65F with lights off. Third, don't spray or feed with anything that has Nitrogen in it, esp Urea. Medium is not the culprit, and most of the OG Kush clones around are very lanky stretchers. I get the canopy the way it is with 9 plants per 600w lamp in a 3x3, with 14-17 days veg. With 1kw lights, I would run 16 plants in a 4x4 and veg for the same period, 14-17 days. This is my "less plants is more" approach. I usually get 1.5oz plant averages with medium yeilders, and 2.0oz+ averages with higher yeilders.

It works something like this, if I were to make a general strain chart:
(for generally slower veggers... GDP, Bubba Kush, etc.)

600w 9 plants 14-17days veg
600w 12 plants 10days veg
600w 16 plants 7days veg

1000w 16 plants 14days veg
1000w 25 plants 9days veg
etc.

Slips and Stone2death thanks for coming by, It's always a pleasure to share the growroom with the good folk at Icmag.
