Well, I have good news and bad news.. depends on how ya lookin' at it..

The MG are still motoring along. Me, on the other hand, is not. I saw the reconstructive heart doctor today. They are amazed how bad my heart is for my age. In 6-8 weeks I will under go open heart surgery to install a mechanical valve. After a week in the hospital I will be going to a nursing home for the next 3-6 months. Doc said time is of the essence.. I need to get this done soon. By the end of the year I will be too weak to withstand the surgery and then have a life expectancy of another year.. So, as it stands if I dont get this surgery I'll be taking the Big Dirt Nap in 2 years. The odds of dying on the table is 1/500. The new valve will give me about another 30 years.

In other words, I have to bail on the grow.

Fingers crossed for ya man!

Good that you are getting that done. Medical things have improved so much since i was a kid.

I would have been much happier if they could have done it with a catheter.. Its an option but the valve would only last 10 years.. they said the mechanical valve should last 30+.. I'm not looking forward to having my sternum cracked open.. being laid up for 3-6 months.. and having to abort the Thai A5 Hazes and Mountain Golds. Cousin Sunshine will take over the flowering and if they cant save me any clones I have more beans :)

Mountain Gold ladies 10 days from flip - all organic :)

Hoping they don't stretch too much on me... I got a trellis if need be but so far a little bit of bondage is working just fine.
Hello @jroadytoady!
Looking phenomenal there! Are those clones or seedlings? Forgive me if you posted earlier, my memory sometimes gets away. Clones will not stretch quite as much and yield will be higher due to chronological age. Thank you much for posting so looking forward to your progress.

I'm psyching myself up for it..

... and to keep the thread On Topic...

I paid Sunshine a visit last night. The plan switched from chopping them up to up-potting, pinch more tops, and veg on.

Here are 2/3 MG. The other one is looking male. Stem rub is sweet circus candy.

Nice work there man!
Those will get to be some sizable ladies. Also like your description on stem rub, a great tool for selecting for assessing a strain and useful breeding tool.

They are from seed and were put into flowering at 7 weeks old.
Ah super!
They will put on a fair amount of stretch, though looking back at your pic post at ten days they look pretty tight node so far, and your training looks quite well planned. I look forward to seeing your garden progress, especially since I am not growing any of the the Mountain Gold out myself this season.

I'll keep a close eye on them re: stretch, not too much more headroom left (but maybe this is the push I needed for a taller tent)

I'll try to do a weekly update on these :)

Hey @HarleyJammer Sounds like winners to me! Have you grown out the Thai A5 Haze before?

Hello @jroadytoady There never really enough room is there?
But going by your pic I am sure you will pull it off! And you continuing to post would be stellar! I love seeing what others can do with the same genetics.
Bellow is a breeder experiment I crossed Green Mountain Grape lady to Mulanje Gold dad. She is not what you would expect with all the fruitiness in the mix more pine/fuel with a hint of Skunk, and surprisingly she is very prone to mold but does make arm sized buds. On a three ft tall cut.

First timer for MG and the TA5H. In pic #4 it appears that plant on the left might be Oaxcan and the one on the right is more Hawaiian. Whatcha think?

Boy its hard to say at this point. But I do find the cross leans a bit more on the Oaxacan Gold side, do to her being the seed mom.

Wow @vermontman - that's definitely arm sized for sure! Sucks about the mold issue though...

Really looking forward to trying Mulanje at some point too
Its cool I have plenty of other genetics to play with and to little time. Mulanje can be an amazing strain though bit tough to get a lady that won't herm, especially under lights. I have a Mulanje clone that runs great, she stacks beautifully is magnificently trippy and very potent. I keep her as a clone mom. When I used Mulanje in the Pineapple Banana Bud the cross with Hawaiian Sativa she ran great but seems like most else I try to cross with Mulanje herms.

I am at 42N here and all my Purple Satellite are going into heavy preflower. I like to give these a good early start indoors and put them outside buy June 15th. I hope you obtain a descent harvest.
Thank you for sharing your progress and please keep us posted.
CHEERS!

Hey @vermontman, wanted to follow up and say the Purple Satellite is some killer weed. The aroma is pine and fruit, really juicy and nice. Both plants smelled so good I added fresh flowers to the bouquets I make. They grew and smoke identically with a strong uplifting high. It makes some of my friends talk non-stop, I can't smoke it with one guy. And it makes your eyes so red no one will take you seriously :ROFLMAO:

This year I will put the rest of my PS seeds out later so I don't flower in the heat, and I'm planning to get to the pack of MG seeds I picked up.

Hello @early_hominid!
That's what I'm talking about!
I want to make strains available that help people converse, live love, and not at all least, laugh! That comes through from the Oaxacan, Man we would laugh so hard our sides would ache! I am so pleased you got that! It really keeps me going! just a few years ago I went to a cook out in the Mountains near me with friends and new aquaintances, I passed around a fairly modest joint of Oaxacan amongst a table of about twelve, and all adults mostly musicians and artist. After the jib made it around the table I noticed the group becoming more engaged and the the second go round all were laughing. I felt like my work was done there, except to chow down on the gourmet Italian fest laid in front of me, Man life is sure high in the mountains!
So thank you so much for posting!

Hello,

Little update, some pics…I’ve cutted the pink gmg x pck yesterday, because i thought i saw a male flower. In retrospect I am doubting that and i have maybe been overreacting 🙃 next time i have to investigate it in better light, before pinching it off. I didnt want to disturb a current little reproduction so i acted (maybeee a bit) to fast. :)

Have to grow her again and check it out. I think she is ten to fifteen days early, just started to fade, today is 37, which makes about 52 days 11/13. Also next time as a one stick plant, with more veg and a better trimming of the bushes in the lower body part. Smell is atm gassy, piney, earthy, berry. Greets to you all!

Running 24 out of 36 of my potential keeper MG (#9) this cycle. Wonderful berry lemon smell to it. Very energetic, and encourages deep thoughts.

The two rows on the left are my SSH, which had much more indica type leaves while in veg for 4 days, but now that are at day 18 of flower and starting to blend in with the MG.

Pruned off lower 5 leaf sets, and all side shoots over 1" in length today to train more towards single colas. This MG formed a more solid cola that was a little leafy, but it was way under the light due to the stretchy pheno (mg#11) during my initial testing. This will be the final pruning for the remainder of the cycle, so curious to see how it goes.
