does an El Nino even affect Alaska? weather maps always show it sweeping in out of the Pacific and crossing Oregon, Washington & Cali. i guess it's already gone by you up there before they mention it...

El Nino affects Alaska more so than most places. The Japanese currents warm us off the Pacific, and the snow's already been increasing annually in the Interior due to climate change. We DEFINITELY feel the El Nino.

We haven't had any days colder than -35 f. up until this forecast and that was for a couple days, max.

We did just have a 5.3 earthquake located 5.3 km northwest of Salcha, Alaska, just to the east of us ~30 miles (relatively close to us as quakes go), about 20 minutes ago or so, at what I believe was a depth of 3.7 km.

Had just been heating a skillet to 'blacken' some Patagonia wild-caught 10-30 count headless, tailless, de-shelled and de-veined shrimp with Cajun seasonings to add to a deluxe salad when the microwave stand began doing the twist, and I realized it wasn't the grader doing the recent snowfall in the road or anything like that.

Rocked and rolled for a good while, too, and it seemed like ripples from the initial quake, not an aftershock, per se'.

So, I'm back to my deluxe salad with homemade Caesar dressing, marinated baby artichoke hearts, blackened, decent-size, wild-caught shrimp, etc.

"A man's gotta' do what a man's gotta' do" Or something like that.

Looks like 18 minutes or so after the initial larger/more serious quake, another quake occurred 3 klicks south by southwest of Salcha, at a magnitude of 2.5 and a depth of 11.1 km. A much tamer ride that I didn't even feel, unless the salad was THAT damned tasty that it completely consumed my attention.

I could do with a filter in the lounge area. I thought I could make a little table, using a fan and filter inside. Then put some sort of mesh table top on, that would let the air through, and offer some fire resistance. Then if I could fashion a pram top, I could have it wide open for rolling on. Then half up, like a scoop to catch what I blow in that direction. Or it could close over the lot when I'm not actively using it, and I could use magnets to slow the motor, in that case.

I probably have everything sat around, but would like an EC fan, for the noise and ease of control. That might cost me £50, but I do have an AC one in my trash spares.

Please critique or advise, if you can add to this

With a mesh top on the container part, the lid makes a nice cowling. The square bin is a nice space to jam, but the round bin might be better for a carbon filter.

I'm trying to compact the fan. Realistically, I don't need a round filter. I can just make a 50mm bed, with a pre-filter laid upon it. Then there are things like this

Just a tenner (plus 12v psu) and function like a 3rd of a 100mm rvk tube fan. This item is 100mm outside, so maybe 70mm? inlet. UK gutter downpipe is 68mm, So I might buy one to get hot air to the bottom of my tent, also. There is a YouTube vid of these blowing up a storm. This fan and filter miniaturisation, would only use 100mm of the 600mm high container. I could almost not use a bin..
