I will be dusting a few branches from a Durban Poison male.

Nice! pick a good one , something not always so easy. I believe poor male selection has been my downfall over the years. So my new approach has been don't select ( unless obviously bad cull out ) I do a controlled open pollination with all the available males

I believe the male choice with Durban’s more important than other varieties..

in 1989 repro we had two different f2 Identical seedlots using the f1’s.

One was great the other was not

I just had a look, serious 6 sounds interesting. I am in Canada and never heard of any Canadian breeder using a pure Durban to cross something, I also haven’t meet all breeders. Depends if it’s coming from east or west Canada.
The only cross with a legendary past is called Texada Timewrap and has an indica mixed in there despite being a Sativa dominant cultivar.
Makes me wonder if there is an actual pure or IBL Durban from the past, as all the Durbans I have seen (including the kawazulu-natal) have shown indica trait phenotypes, the fast flowering trait comes from a fast flowering indica (potentially a hash plant), at least the ones passed around in Canada.
A pure Sativa doesn’t have a fast flowering trait, neither a pure African Sativa for that count.

What I keep from this Dutch Durban is their “fast flowering” capability and the bullet proof resistance to mildew, mold and rot. 2 traits I seen in the Dutch Durban and decided to keep.

I agree I would not grow DP that has indica mixed in like Dutch Passions' version. Bean Hoarder from Hemp Depot has some non-Dutch Passion pure Durban genetics that he mixes to create F1s. If you could get in touch with Brad who is the Hemp Depot owner he might help you with that quest to get some real Durban Poison from Bean Hoarder. I grew some of Bean Hoarder's Durban Poison X Big Freeze and it was an enormous plant that flowered early and was ready by mid October. He says he has other pure South African genetics as well. For the record I love growing 100% pure sativas outdoors at 50 degrees north in BC. Mountain Gold from Vermontman worked this year and has a super clear and warm sativa high, it is a hybrid of Hawaiian Sativa and Oaxacan sativa. I may cross it with Zamadelica to see if I can bring down the Zamadelica's flowering time a bit although the high might be a bit cooler.

I've also grown Sinai from RSC that looks like a pure sativa in appearance and flowers early, one started flowering the first of July and finished easily by end of September. However the high is a bit different from say, a Thai in that it was not as clear, but was quite euphoric. I crossed it with Zamaldelica and that F1 was also early flowering. The high was less euphoric and somewhat more like a traditional sativa. I think the Sinai and its crosses have great promise for us northern sativa lovers in Canada who want a fast flowering sativa.

I ran some Durban poison x triangle kush outside this year. Although the plants didn’t look as pretty as my inside plants, the weed was/is awesome snd I got a few jars out of her. I was gifted the seeds but will be trying it again inside where I seem to have more control in the future

You grew a Oxaca variety? That’s awesome man, any chance I could check that grow out?
I worked with a Mexican pheno many years ago, can’t say it’s Oxaca because I gathered the seed around Yucatán peninsula east coast Mexico. But I have always wanted a legit highland Oxaca.

Im not familiar with Hawaii sativas but I have read many growers here talk wonder about Hawaii genetics.

The seeds are from ACE developed by Vermontman, he's a great guy and can answer many of your questions about Oaxacan sativa, he's on this site regularly. Not sure where you are in BC but if you're in the Lower Mainland, Okanagan Valley, Van Island you should have no trouble growing Mountain Gold. Here are some pics of the plant and the bud I grew this year, by the way the stem split but the branch still grew well. Good luck.

Also checkout the purple satelite from green mountain seeds (same breeder as mountain gold). They are fast maturing. Mine threw a few fake herm pods but quality was good. I grew up in the BC interior.
I have extra purple satelite seeds if you want to try them. PM me.

I do like the island, especially Comox/Courtney.

Thanks Old Piney. It was from ILGM. Many folks claim they have bad genetics. I like finding out for myself if it's the growers skills or the genetics themselves. I also grow their Super Skunk and have been happy with that for the past several years. Harvest date was October 2nd. I jarred 237 grams from that plant. That's an average for that outdoor site.

I have not stumbled across anyone yet.

The plants I grew would be considered more Zimbabwe/Zambia, but close to Durban. It is a racy / thought provoking high.

Search east africa genes if you are looking for unique seeds. Mine are from another source.
