Been a while - nearly a month since I last posted - and the original 5 Amnesia Kush auto's - are now just 3 - since the two smaller slower germinating plants took a hammering from some heavy thunderstorms - and then were mostly eaten by some slugs - that found their way onto the plants - via the soil from under the apple tree - I should have been more aware - and sorted them out earlier - but alas - was preoccupied with other matters - so its just the three of them left now - up on my balcony -

- As you can see - I have found an organic remedy - to discourage the slugdom - from feeding on my plants anymore - surrounding their stems with garlic powder and eggshells - and they are just about starting to flower - which is nice -
hey gypsy i been having extra slug activity. i stay away from those weird slug bait pesticides to nasty stuff it is. an old head turned me on to copper works great somthing in it slugs do not like to touch it
copper tape if for in containers

Yes - copper mesh would work well - but I would have to go out and buy it big315 - and this thread is about growing 'on the cheap' - so when a lady friend suggested that I could find an organic slugdom prevention technique in the kitchen cupboards (garlic powder and egg shells) - I went for that instead - and it's working just fine - she also told me to smear some petroleum jelly (Vaseline) around the top of the plant pots - which I might also do - since we have some around the apartment -

I've been growing outdoors in small containers for the past 10 years or so and one of the things I think I've learned is that the plants tend to perform a lot better when they've got a saucer under the pot and are watered mainly from below.
I have a whole big longwinded explanation for why I think it works that way too

Was out and about in suburban London yesterday - and couldn't find any sheep Hasch - to get some untreated wool - probably have more success if I lived in Wales - lol

- and Chuck Jagerschnitzel - my pots would need a dinner plate under 'em - for me to get into 'bottom feeding' - plus they are exposed enough out there on the balcony to get plenty of moisture when it rains - yesterday they were seriously battered by gale force winds - but managed to survive well - without loosing any foliage - seems to just make them stronger - and grow faster -

I think a sheep would fit there in the balcony next to the plants. And I am pretty sure you could get untreated wool from it. Maybe just having the sheep there solves the problem? Should be cheap enaugh in the long run.. :joint:
Baaaaaaa!

And think of the manure, your plants could really take off with that..

But what would the sheep eat?
I don't think it can live only on slugs.

I am thinking they would eat weed, and without the slug problems, there should be more of it. It's kind of a circular "economy" tobe had on that balcony.

The only additive my plant has needed - is the occasional couple of pints of water - which I got from the sink - best to watch out if it has rained when you go to water it - and if the soil is already wet - then there is no need to water it - simple really - occasionally - about once a week I let the pot dry out overnight - then as soon as I saw the leaves wilting slightly - I would get water from the tap - and water the plant - till it was up to the brim - let it soak in - then do it again - once a day - You don't need special ph adjusted water - or any of that nonsense - since the soil is capable of regulating its own ph - so I have been told.

i use something called tangle foot. is like the
yellow pull out fly strips that are sticky.
if those fly catchers are around there.
you could for cheap put a strip of one around
each stem. they come in a tube and you pull
them out. cut some strips from 1 and vola.

Thanks for the tip Lrus - but the eggshells and garlic powder look to be working just fine - nothing has been munching on the plants lately - and they are growing well as they start to flower -

Years ago there was a thread and it blew up into a sticky it was called something like “my Primo bud for a dollar”? and what the guy did with set up a single fluorescent strip shop light leaned up against a white wall and showed us how he could grow a nice frosty plant and it worked …I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s still in the server somewhere in the cobwebs of history

I read that garlic also helps to keep wasps away :) So it´s it´s a double win, assuming it really does work :)
I really got to try it out because I had a massive wasp in my flat the other night, just as I was gonna go to bed. It was one of those which behaved totally bonkers - pretty freaky .
