Two months ago - the apple tree was not fruiting - but the soil was good due to apples such as this rotting away - since I can ever remember.

Plants provide bacteria and mycorrhizal fungi with what they don't produce themselves - carbon and calories.

Check out this example:

It isn't as much the composting worms as it is the calories/energy contained in the foodscraps.

Another Year - this time it's the Acid Kush femmed-auto - from The Skunkist - only 3 seedlings - and they all look healthy - same soil as before - from under the apple tree -

Some more pics of the Acid Kush - from this summer -
- all were grown in the soil from under the apple tree - and this year we had not pests or heavy storms to screw things up -

Recently I grew a plant with a minimalistic and very economical aim - to show new growers that cannabis cultivation can be done simply - and at a VERY low cost -

So many new growers get confused and overthink their cultivation project - thinking that they need all sorts of technological wizardry - and special, expensive additives, fertilizers and equipment - so within this thread - you will find how to do it without any of that bother - since cannabis growing is far from rocket science.

Cannabis has been grown outside in just soil for many thousands of years - so lets get started with the story of my plant - that has lived and bloomed for the past 2 months - on the balcony of a 3rd story apartment in London, England.

Outside my flat is a gorgeous apple tree - which every year produces more apples than anyone wants around here - so much of the fruit of the tree falls to the ground and rots away into the soil - and this has been going on for decades - this has helped to make that soil nutrient rich - and capable of growing a plant from start to finish without any additives or other nutrients at all.

I agree with you Gypsy. So many people trip out there. With good genetics and proper growing; sufficient light, moisture and nutrients, our beautiful plant can do wonders. Indeed, in the 60s and 70s she was grown in the third world primarily and there was some pretty good pot to be found.

Gypsy, it warms my heart to see that you have nature's own version of fungal repositories taking place under your apple tree. A strong microbial presence is so valuable to growing.
This thread is awesome and keeps growing simple. 👏
Peace brother 🙏

Well - this year there are a couple of new bigger pots I managed to liberate from a freinds old garden shed - while helping to organize - and was gifted - after saying that I would put them to good use - and while digging up new soil - in the communal garden - was approached by the wife of an old now deceased friend (RIP Barry) - living near-by - who had part of a bag of compost - which was mixed into the 2 new larger pots - the other 3 pots have only soil from under the apple tree - which as we have seen in previous years - works well enough -

Another slight change this year - whilst perusing the garden section at Wilko - came across these biodegradable seedling pots - so no shock to the young plant when re-potting - minimal root disturbance - you just plant out the complete pot - into a bigger one - and allegedly the new roots will just grow thru the walls of the 'fibre pot' - we shall see -

Yes, but those are probably paper or plant fibre (celulose). The old ones that were peat were a nightmare to get wet enaugh and for long enaugh to desintegrate. Hopefully this ones work better.
Good luck with you mini garden, Gypsy!

they make those pots out of cow poop too, they just get absorbed into the ground and add some nutes to it
8 cm wide and 100% (cow poop?) fibre - Mooo! - then after the seed has germinated and grown a bit stronger - with a robust stem - put outside into a 30cm pot with mixed compost and top soil from under the apple tree - now with regular watering over the summer - should get a good result - some nice 'erb - ahh the fibre pots cost £1.20 for 12 - but I only needed 5 - plenty left for next year -

Looking good boss! 👍

I'm growing myself also some (high CBD) auto's at the moment. Nothing easier then putting some beans in some rich soil with just an occasional watering and just sitting back and watching nature to it's thing.
Very satisfying too - those 5 plants will be keeping me company all summer - as I sit out there rain or shine - watching nature do its thing - helps keep the blood pressure down - watching the plants grow and bloom -
