Diary Run #7: ICMag O-Haze

If both males are unstable, then it was the light leak.
@Sub24ox7 reporting his root bount male, did it too, confirms it.

Normally pure Original Haze is very stable sexually. And has a high female to male ratio. That is not the case anymore in SC's, nor in MM's OH repros. While OH lines straight from me, have still the same high females ratio. Why I don't know.

But Tom Hill had a theory on the unsusual female to male ratio in Haze. @MAHA KALA

I have progeny tested all my OH parents over the years, by outcrossing them. But also through the sharing, with people who have used them in breeding. And while nobody did report intersex, nor I did see myself any in my pure OH lines. I have seen some diffrences in stability in the outcrosses.

@flylowgethigh I am not a fan or expert of femmed seeds. Therefore will not recommed to use the males. But would still prefer using an unstable male from a line that is supposed to have been stable for 50 or 20 years, confirmed by many people, than using unstable males from unknown or unstable genetics.

This is my chance. It is what it is. I doubt I will run OHz for a while with all the other sativas I need to run through, including pan-o-haze.

The other thing is the smell is pretty faint. I don’t have a cat, but the stem rubs brought the smell of catPiss to mind. My set-up doesn’t really make smelly plants though.

JohnnyChicago please tell me, to hybrid pure Cindy99 with this OHz, is the female to be the Cindy, or the OHz? Or are both ways appropriate? I have the chance to do both ways.

Both is OK. And if you plan to cross it only to C99, a female will do the job too.
Haze males, are great when you want to Haze everything. They often breed more true than females. A true advantage. While females you can smoke them and know exactly what and how they are.

Catpiss from the stem of a pure Haze is a good sign. Do the females have that smell too?
You are the first reporting it from few hundreds OH plants grown by tens of people. May be you can try to ask SamS over PM, what he thinks about using that male.

Or just use your Haze females. Will be great too. :)

My stuff is sub-special, don’t worry. Both males and both females have that faint smell from stem rubs. It kills me to hear about strong smells early in a plants life, cause mine never do. Thus…

I am making seeds blindly. Just like the two females I had to cull, no discriminators yet. Watching the pollen debris from explosions off the male flowers is amusing.

The pistals are only on the very tops from the newest growth. Lights in there go out at 5, and that closet with the door opened for fan air, is for the lung room where I hang out. The plants got light pollution after bedtime for sure in that makeshift stoner den of inebriation.

If the females do have that smell too, then don't use the males.
Being an inbred 1:1 it shoud breed relatively true. No matter if you use a male or female.

I wish you good luck.
But I don't think it's necesssry, as C99 x OH sounds like a killer cross.

OH the first cultivar I did grow outdoors in 95.
C99 the first I did grow indoors in 2005.
Great genetics. :)

I have learned to tag the branches I hit with pollen, that way I know those flowers are seeded, and which pollen was used.

Pollen has been taken from the males. They get destroyed today and the room (and my bathrobe) get cleaned. That Mars 4800 and a nearpow timer, with manual power adjustment utilizing a PAR meter worked pretty well in the makeshift area.

The girls are doing fine and settling into a sea of sativa. This is week 7. I expect a merry Christmas. If I can get male Cindy pollen in time I will hit a few flowers for reverse Cindy haze.

With nets like this a lower canopy is good, because it is easier to work. I have plenty of room in the 8’ tent to raise the 6500 watt light to fine tune the VPD and leaf temp.

While I was tossing the males On the burn pile I saw a male plant, full of pollen sacs popping, leaves dropping off. It must have been the male SKOHLP I tossed a month ago. No idea how it got roots in the ground. This thing was 10 feet tall and had no smell. I squished it down into a short bush.

It lived through freezes somehow. Cannabis is a strange plant.

So I went and checked on the two female SKOHLP and brought a doob of the bud I pulled the last time, maybe 2 weeks ago. Trics are still clear, smell has reduced to a kinda fruity. The doob gave a nice happy high with no couchiness. Here they are, still making:

I know what will be in the sativa tent next run.

Hi Mr Flower. The pile of nanners is the male SKOHLP that grew outside all summer in a bag under the worst conditions and care. I was fed up with it, and tossed the whole thing on the burn pile after pulling the root ball out of the bag of soil. It somehow lived, roots found something, and it made nanners like mad when the light got short enough. The females are the SKOHLP that started with him last spring, which I gave away. They too have been in deplorable care.

I think I am gonna run the SKOHLP next in the sativa tent to see what it’s got.

Hey Mr Flower, sorry for the way I reacted on the McHaze. I grow for fun and for the high, not to put food on my table. I get it. I’ll send up some Cindy haze if you want, and maybe we could see what it really has.
