The cost is pretty irrelevant to me. I do one grow (maybe two) per year and the feed costs like 20€ per grow. There are no savings to be had for me.

I have wondered about making buffer solutions. I know you would use a weak acid and a weak base to achieve it, but haven't bothered to look up suitable materials. Anyway I'm in coco now and I'm guessing buffering ph wouldn't really work.

You must do a super small grow then. I only run 2 plants and the savings are significant for me. No worries though. People are free to use/grow however they want. Just showing people my way.
Have a great day all.

Just checking in...new to powdered nutes and stock solutions. Everything still seems to be working well. With this first attempt, I made two solutions: a gallon of 1g Jack's Part A with .33g MgSO4 per 10 ml, and another gallon with .67g calnit per 10 ml. When I factor in my 105 ppm tap, I can hit an EC target in a batch of feed with pretty good accuracy. Happy so far with how the plants look.

Oh hell ya those look great! I guess you would be right on the cusp of having "hard water" Hopefully using tap everything will be ok tho. Looking sweet so far.

I would really like to see your numbers and what you use to achieve a $20.00 grow. Be cool to see what $20.00 gets you in terms of yield. I have put some very detailed information regarding cost breakdowns in here. Love to see how they compare to what you use.
I have calculated that for nutes a run costs me about $13.44 for 10 rez changes.
I have calculated that electricity costs me about $11.34 for 70 days of 12/12. I am lucky here.
I do not factor my water as a cost. On my own well and the cost is almost nil. Yes I spent $ to condition my water to R/O status but that is hard to factor in. I can get a years worth of back to back runs in for 1 filter change.
So a total of $24.77 for a 10 week run...lol. So low. This is in a 4x4 room so you can do the math per ounce on the yields...lol.
Now there are more electrical costs which are very hard to figure out because of the non scheduled use of the equipment. Things like a chiller and heater are very hard to figure cause you don't know how much they been on. So there are going to be some other costs for power. Trying to be as honest as I can here guys.
I love how low I have gotten my cost output to get some great meds.
Peace, negative.

20$ per grow on coco? I'm impressed. What do you use? Can you give us some details, please?
I'm on coco/perlite and use compo experts salts and MKP. But the soft water I'm dealing with makes me use plenty calmag for example. That already blows that budget of yours. Besides that I still need enzymes which are expensive too. If you got some hints to cut out costs, please let us know.
Cheers,stiff

Uhm, my last year's grow was coco and I'm in coco now. Before that I did a few years of DWC. I would like to go back to dwc, but can't deal with the noise.

Anyways. I grow in a 2*4. Last grow was just one plant, but usually two or three. I buy one litre bottles of canna nutes (a+b so two litres together and they cost 18.90€). My water is 0.1ec so I add a little calmag, but I only use the base nutes. The one litre calmag lasts a long time and I don't remember buying another set of the base nutes last time (I may have bought another, but I don't remember doing so and I doubt I did. In dwc I had to buy both flower and veg nutes, but one set was more than a grow). This plant yielded >300g.

Like I said for me there wouldn't really be meaningful savings. On "the streets" here cannabis costs 20-25€/g and like 15/g from "friends", which makes me care very little about my growing costs. It's sooo much cheaper to grow my own even if I had to buy a complete new grow set every time :D If I grew much more there would be significant savings of course.

Mixing your own nutes would be great so you could change the formula when needed. Maybe some day I will go that route.

Thanks for the response. Wow that's a nice plant. Yep for a small grow like this convenience out ways cost savings. You have gotten your per gram price down to 6.6 cents...now that is affordable for sure!! Good on you sir! Now if you ran a couple and did 365, 24/7 growing things may be a little different. Love that your keeping the cost down.
Thanks for your input here. Have a great day all.

Very happy with my nutrient mix. I am still learning with LEDs tho. Picked up a lot of good tips over the last year or so. I can honestly say these are some of the best buds I have grown in my life. Led makes a quality product. I have seen no reduction of taste, potency, smell or trichome coverage. In fact the lower buds are way better than under HID's. Rock solid nugs down at the 24" line below canopy. I have never had better yields either. The coverage of these lights just cant be beat.
I have grown plenty with traditional bottled nutes and all the adds. You don't need it!
Full disclosure. Some of these pictures I may have used a couple other items. I have experimented with Sweet Raw and some Tribus and Mammoth P at times. Those made no difference in my final product compared to runs without in my opinion. I have dropped them all.
Hope some of you make the switch. Appreciate the nice comments there Creeperpark

Wondering how big is yr grow room?

Regarding economics: Do you measure how much power you use per day? Say, in Watts?

Thanks for the questions there VenerableHippie.
My total space is 4'x5'x8'. I only use the 4x4 area for flowering...front has some equipment and space for access. Yes I measure my power usage in KWH for the lights. Its tougher for me to measure the heater and chiller cause they run intermittenly...
I use the formula of how many watts I use in a given time period. When that adds to 1000 its a KWH. Take your KWH times the number of times you hit that in flower. Then times your local power companies rates and bam...you got your number.
Example....1k light runs 12 hours daily, that's 12kwh times 70 days of flower you got 840 KWH. Take that times your power rate...you got it.
I put my detailed nute and POWER costs for a full run in a earlier post.

Salts are we the way to go if mineral. Cheap and long lasting. I'm using compo experts and yara on coco.
Just recently i found out about this pond sludge powder stuff and might give it a go over the bottled enzymes.
Rid x septic enzymes are the same thing and cheaper than the pond sludge stuff. 😉

Would you mind posting a picture of the stuff? Sounds good to me if I can cut costs doen any further👌
Absolutely brother! I went DEEP on the DIY nutes a year ago. Use liquid smoke for aminos too.

Check this out too bro. They actually raised their free shipping from 50, to 100. 100lbs for 120 bucks shipped doesn't get much cheaper lol enjoy!

Thanks for your reply.

I asked the wrong question! I mean can you tell me how many Watts per day your set up uses?

Oh shit I went into a long answer for a short question...lol. My LED is 630-660 watts. It has 2 drivers and dimmers on both. I hardly ever run at full power. Running at about the 500 watt level now. Gives me a PPFD of around 800 at the canopy. I keep the light fairly low to the plants. Less than 1 foot from the tops.
So 500 watts at 12 hours gives you about 6 KWH per day or so. For the lights only...
There would be a water pump, chiller, heater, air pump and 2 fans running also..to hard to calculate for me.

Thanks hope I helped.

Ii run 6/9 using GH. I buy the 2.5gal jugs of micro and get 6 gal of bloom. Been doing that for a couple years and I love it. How hard would it be to make a copycat of GH 6/9 with jacks?
Ps I just put a bottle of revitalize in my cart! I'm almost out of hydrogaurd
