You won't know until its about 5-7 weeks into bloom. The thicker budset will be evident by the quickness in which it flowers. The longer phenotypes I had in the THH P1's were barely starting to bloom at that point just a few calyxes forming and very wispy, while the thicker rooty ones were already showing much more. The quicker THH had rootbeer like tastes while the longer ones had a slightly sweet citrus with a metal background. If they are not from P1 stock it may be different for you but I did not find any of them to be related to Sk#1 or afghan. Most were much longer flowering and less density that Todd McCormicks. Also much more landrace like.

thankyou for the reply lostribe appreciate it ,,,im not on a witchunt i always thought thh looked sk1 /haze not suggesting anymore than that how it appears to me ,, so i was just teasing tom a little,, from what i seen hes far from thin skinned or i probly wouldnt of said anything lol ,,,the only way to find out is to grow em and all i care about is the effect ,,for the record my personal grail was given to me as sk /haze back in 80s and it was better than any haze ive had since including all todds and past seedsman and is what im seeking again,, i will always give credit were it due no matter who bred it how it bred or personal feeling on breeder cheers

was in a bit of a rush earlier but im curios what do you prefer so far from todds or toms lostribe ,,,sounds ;like it could be the thh from your post ?/

Tom Hill's Haze for me is like a plant pulled out of a distant rainforest cut off from the outside world that looks and smokes like something you could only imagine in your wildest stoner dreams. It is the cream of the crop and at the top of the list. The long flowering plants are a cut above everything else I have grown ever. Seeming wild like a landrace at times, yet with distinctly refined qualities hidden within the line. She has a sweet metal spicy with a definably mint aroma. But what sets the THH apart is the truely utopian experience from the first toke. The highest of peaks and then some.

Todd McCormicks reproduction of Original Haze was also very nice but it does not reach the heights of Tom's. It is not as long flowering even though both lines do have shorter blooming individuals the THH is longer overall. OHaze was quicker and much easier to grow. It has a heavier budset and just does not seem as rare or exquisite as Tom's Haze. The two are very different from one another in growth, budset, fragrance and peak of the high.

The THH is what I was always imagining when I thought of what haze would be like its much less refined. Like Tom says you wont find the soapyness in the THH that is fairly prevalent in Todd's. In fact I started 4 more Todd Ohaze and finally got 2 males and 2 more females. The females are both of the soapy perfumey type and its pretty obvious even early in. Combine those 2 and the rest of the todds and there was the sparkling grape juice like pheno which I chose to keep it is very different from all the others. All the other Todd exhibited some degree of soapy perfume. They are about 4-5 weeks in and already blowing past the THH minty that goes 16+. I started a mint early and its probably about 8 weeks in and just starting to get moving but the resin is more prevalent in that particular plant. I love it but alas I am not sure I will be able to keep them as I have extended travel plans on the horizon. Glad I did the open pollenation when I started them and have hopes that her traits will come through in her progeny. That reminds me I need to go through the last jar of the minty to pull the rest of her seed and get it well stored for safe keeping.

I have chosen f13 f6 to donate pollen for this batch.

I also chose to keep the 2 todd's that did not have the soapy smells. One was of rootbeer which was culled after a second run. The other was the sparkling grape pheno which I still have. It was a quicker pheno at 11.5-12.5w finishing. I really like that one it may be in my top 5 ever yet the Mint from Tom is my favorite.

I have a limited amount of THH f2 some of which were sent out and are currently being tested. Hope we will get to see how they turn out. I have to go thru the rest of the jars and try to seperate out the rest of the seed. I know there are probably a couple hundred in there but I just havent had time and usually pull them out as I go thru the smoke. However for me it is important to pull this seed while they are still only a few months old. I will probably start that later this week. Once I get to see how many of each mom I have I will see if there is enough to go around to the Haze crew. I am sure there are a handfuls worth of packs but I want to hang onto enough to work later down the road.

Cheers!

Reading this thread from beginning... it's been many years... so many big names... some same old characters. First 50 pages highly recommended read. Wow!!

Cheers to the folks who got us here, all of them not just Sam and the other big names, but all those who quietly working away the world over only popping their heads in periodically to share those golden nuggets of wisdom. AND Cheers to all the haters and detractors too, the extra drama makes for a little more 'fun' in the read too hahaha:friends:
