What's new

Your favorite strain, all things considered if you had to choose one & only keeper ?

wow SOTF420, I did not expect that excellent response of yours, and as it is late here and I am finally ready for bed, I will have to read it over again later. Thanks!

From what I've tried so far there are a few that stand out. I've lost good keepers too. Sometimes I just get tired of the same thing and just get rid of it. I usually keep something around for a year or so before I get rid of it. Usually when I start something new or need to make room I swallow my pride and just start thinning. Some phenos in the past I wish I still had really. Here are some strains that were some of my favorite keepers but were lost.

White Russian x Afghan- I had a particular pheno that finished in 50 days and had the potency and taste too. The weakness was it was a very slow grower and autoflowered too much.

Blueberry x White Russian- I only had 6 seeds and ended up with only 1 nice female. She was a beauty, I grew her for over a year until it got powdery mildew really bad and I had to just get rid of her. Luckily I made some hybrids with her so at least I saved the genetics. This was another pheno that finished in 50 days with nice plump unreal resinous buds. The taste was one of my favorites too.

Sweet Tooth x Lavender- I ended getting a nice Sweet Tooth pheno that had the sweetest smell. I only got to grow her out once which was the seed plant. The clones I took were weak and didn't make it and that was that. I would of kept her around for awhile but at least at I got a few more seeds left.

Strawberry Diesel- I've had several Straw D phenos but nothing compared to this particular one. I had to get rid of her simply due to odor. I'd say by far this is the most pugnent herb I've ever seen. I mean you got to have 2 carbon filter to control the smell. She even stunk heavily in veg. Too dangerous at the time for me so I had to let her go. Too bad because that was probally the best phenotype that will come out of the Straw D seed batch.

California Orange- I got a really good orange citrus pheno and didn't take clones. This was pretty much the best pheno I'd say in Cali-O. The taste alone was worth keeping her around for awhile. I made more seeds but hard telling finding that pheno again.

C99- I had a few Cindy seeds to grow out. I had bad luck with them and never got to make seeds. I did make some hybrids though so the genetics are saved. I still like the original C99 though. I tried keeping clones of her but they just kept dying. She was a hard one to keep. C99 is one of my favorites for sure.

Northern Skunk- For some reason I just got rid of this pheno and it ended up being a great pheno. She produced fat dense frosty buds in just 50 days. Not much odor either. It was one of my favorite smokes.

Sour Cali- Here is another one I wanted to keep but had to get rid of due to odor. The buds were so tasty and the buzz was great. Luckily I made seeds and hybrids so I sent her on her way.

Still haven't found my perfect strain, but anything with a decent amount of Thai in it is something I'll try and seek out to brighten my day.

I do love sativas.

If I was stuck with one strain, I would want it to be top notch.

Genius crossed with a very clear Thai sativa sounds just right.

i guess everyone is still not satisfied....we are all looking for that perfect strain. the 50-60 day, super frosty, super stinky.

the backbone of a good grower is good genetics. you can have the sickest growroom, and grow shit if you have 3rd gen clones like most medical clubs. you can grow the best weed in a tiny closet if your genetics are good. thats what i am basing my grows on. genetics come first. i want to find 2-3 really good strains and work those first. many growers get overwhelmed with 100 different strains. theres like 5 strains i wish i could throw in my garden but right now im just working with stuff that is commercially popular. Sour grapes...SourDxChem...and PureKush (og pre98 with no crosses).....if either strain doesnt fill my expectations i have many backups. already have bruce banner, got cherry kush (cherry pie) on deck too....got those in case either the SG or CS doesnt meet my expectations. as nice as a good sativa SSSH crossed with sounds on paper...what sells and makes money right now is the lungbuster heavy indica. nationwide coast to coast..if your shit has sour or kush genetics its selling for top dollar. growing anything else is not financially feasible...

I think OG, Chem and Sour will become the skunks of tomorrow.

F-13 and Vortex are my personal favorites. Though that could change with the line up in my current grow

i have pics of almost every strain i have smoked this year in my gallery, so far hands down the winner is the C4xLLOG. totally unbelievable taste in the blunt, really smooth but hard hitting at the same time, tasted like lemon bars. i smoked out Hieroglyphics, Berner and Equipto with it last night at their music studio and they were all loving it, called it "designer weed"..my other friend described it as "straight retarded"

Close second would be the Purple Bubba,...really good kush taste and good bag appeal. everyone i sold it too raves about it as well in terms of heavy hitting lungbusting kush.

who knows what people will want in 5 years. the kush could get boring, and kids will want fruity strains to match with their clothes lol. weed that is all blue, or red, or purple. foir now, at the moment, its the OG kush and its crosses that are popular. Bruce Banner, Cherry Pie, Sour Grapes....thats the hot shit. while 5 years ago, everyone was rapping about grandaddy purple, now everytime i listen to rap its about "smokin that sour"...or "got that cali kush".

Third Eye.

Anyone familiar with it? It makes a regular appearance here in So Cal dispensaries. It's a cross between Super Silver Haze and Afgoo.

Tremendous, just tremendous.
