Coming from hydro is it normally acceptable to up pot during flowering? What are the signs? yellowing lower fans?

Yes. (For indoor grows) people do limitate root by using small container until stretch is done and flowering occuring strongly, they do so both to manage the plant size and for easiness of plant care during the last part of blooming (lets say for like 8 to 16 weeks as stretch is generally no longer than the first eight weeks of flowering). If not, tropical/equatorial plants tend to stretch to the moon and grow forever / outgrow the area.

For timing it's just like repuk said:
the moment you see your girl green fading and concentrated on hair throwing, means she's ready for up-potting.

But keep in mind if done too early it may extend your flowering time.

Now if you got a greenthumb, you could also keep them in small pots all along. All you have to do is to find the right feeding routine, kinda just like hydro. That way you could grow much more plants and eventually find a keeper more easily.

All this is not specifically about zamaldelica but growing tropical/equatorial sativa's indoor in soil. Or such kind of plants profile. It won't work with anything too much indica tainted as it will kill the yeild.

I take mine out of 24 hour a day lighting when they are large enough. Up pot them and place them in the 12/12 flowering room. Works for me.

I just checked my calendar and found that my Zamaldelicas are at 20+weeks. The colas continue to pack it on with fresh white pistils showing up. I have been snipping the bottom branches that appear done and smoking them with no cure. I can't help myself!!!

For long flowering strains, some folks prefer to transplant and provide more nutrients before the flowering plant gets too far into flower but after much of the stretch is over. I read a journal of an outdoor grower who vegged inside and transplanted outside, setting the fabric container directly into the ground. His plants grew wonderfully.

I appreciate that, I have been in hydroton and various straight hydro systems for a long time now testing some sativa again in organic soil NH and Bandaid Haze.

Right now got 2 Zam's that cracked after a bit of coursing! A few years old and they spent nearly a year in storage so heat and freezing. They made it but needed twice the time and a bit of heat to get them going. I have 2 left from regs about 3-5 years old.

Now that they germinated they look fine and are going good. Cant wait hoping for a crazy one like the first I ran!

Wonderful tropical fruit smells! She reeks!

She's somewhere around 12 weeks flowering. Difficult to say, but checking my notes, I reduced the lights from 18/6 to 15/9 in the few days after Jan 9th and reached 11/13 by Jan 26th. I was trying to give more veg time to a younger plant sharing the tent. I think she's around the right spot based on smells and trichomes. I've kept two clones so I can be more precise with future harvests once I determine my preferences.

Her smells are so mouthwatering and delicious! I've never grown a plant that smelled this wonderful! I'm a sucker for fruit candy and sour candy, but dietary restrictions limit my candy intake significantly. This plant tickles that same craving. I read a comment from someone in a journal in the Ace section (sorry, don't remember whom; been spending loads of time lurking the Ace section since corona) who described their Zam cut as citrus fruity (their description was poetic; my paraphrase doesn't do it justice). My plant had minimal citrus at harvest, but it more than made up the difference with sweet tropical fruit scents.

It seems like she re-flowered slightly within the last week because there are more white pistils than there were a week ago, but the trichome development seems to have progressed nicely.

Thanks, Dubi and Ace, for making these genetics available to us! This is an incredible hybrid, and I'm chomping at the bit to try the flower!

Nice one baconman1945. I do believe you are there. Congratulations on your harvest. Enjoy your bounty. Sometimes you may notice a rose note in the floral bouquet sides of Zamaldelica and this I find is a sublime flavor when smoked or vaped as it usually ends up in a wonderful soaring head high before evening out into a body high and sedative body stone. Magical herb for sure. Enjoy!

Thanks for the kinds words, ULMW! Forgot to take photos before chop so I couldn't post a final canopy photo. The one from 4/6 is pretty close though.

I think I understand the floral scent that you're referring to -I'll keep a lookout for it. I had an early harvest on a Durban Poison a few years ago, and the flower was very rose floral with minimal black pepper. I enjoyed some this morning, and that rose floral was still there.

Thanks again for the kind words! It's been great sharing this with the community and receiving comments!

baconman1945: make sure you try Zamaldelica x Kali China! Mango/Passion Fruit with sweet orange/tangerine juice citrics... you actually feel the taste in your saliva just as if you chew a bit, first time I've tasted something so intense.

Baconman1945..
Do keep your trim and make yourself a ball of floral bubble hash. I think you will love how it captures all those terpenes!

:tiphat: Great description, and thanks for the tip -this one is actually on my shopping list already! It'll definitely make it into my next order.

I'm very interested in trying some of the KC crosses -Haze x KC is in my fridge (I've read it's a mostly incense flavor for this particular cross though). I've read comments from Dubi in a few places that he is blown away by the flavors of those crosses.

Absolutely, my friend! I'd never let trim or larf go to waste!

I have bubble bags, but I've always preferred to make dry ice kief with them and press it, if I want hash. Usually, I just enjoy adding the kief to a vape or smoke. Vapcaps of kief are something wonderful, on occasion.

Does the ice water in bubble hash make a difference to the flavor? I know that I'm picking up more of the plant matter by using dry ice, but I start with one round of 73 micron and finish with a second round of 160 micron so I think I'm minimizing plant matter making it into the kief.

I uploaded this photo a while ago but I never posted it. I’m just very impressed by the shape and proportions of this zamaldelica’s leaves, and I wanted to share the picture. The measure of the graph paper is 1/4 inch or 6.35mm. The leaves on this genotype stay at this proportion even as they get big. It’s the coolest cannabis plant I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a decent 75-100 varieties.

I saw a palm tree at my local botanical garden it came from off the coast of madigasgar, near where the Zamal comes from and in the description of the tree they mention that the leaves were super thin because of the extremely arid environment lived in. It made me think of this cannabis plant.

Sounds delicious Dry Ice is too difficult to source where I am and for my quantity also. So I do ice water bubble. I find the ice water captures the terpenes well. However you do get the risk of green plant mater moving in but that is always the case whatever hash making method one uses... Lol.
Enjoy your bounty Baconman1945. :)

Dry ice is super easy to use and it yield massive. I used to for all this older bud recently and I got like a qp easy I made a fresh batch with the 150u and think I will use the 250 from now on as it is more similar to real temple balls. Darker and easier to press. Also tastier imho. The super fresh though use the 150u super terpie.

Yield blew my mind. Never doing bubble again. Well maybe.

Also popped 2 reg Zamadelica and they are moving. I think last time it was just the light spectrum from the t5 that made the fat leaves so may pop a couple more of my f2's but also got another half a pack or regs on the way. This stuff is on another level that most heads will never get to.

I will update when there is something good to see. This round is most likely going in coco w pbp.
