Whos got the best Afghan?

I bought several packages from ace seeds a few years ago at 150 euros for 10 seeds. 15 euros per seed. A fortune
Many did not germinate, others were hermaphrodites, others without resin...
The average salary in afghanistan is less than 200 dollars a month.
Their plants measure about two meters and they have a large cultivation field with which they take out thousands of seeds.
This price seems excessive.
But they put it because they know that westerners pay for it. The pack that you have put was worth 1000 euros I think for 100 seeds and a t-shirt.
These people, like many others, have wanted to get on the money seed train through Instagram.
Same as The Landrace Team and others. They are just looking for money.
For the price of one i buy several packs of afghani mix TRSC and do a lot of research.
Of course everyone does what they want with their money.:tiphat:

He was just speaking from experience. Selection has been done of course, at some point in time, but bulk seed from these fields, which has had no selection done, may have issues. Selection has been done in some seedlots, but not necessarily with all the seedlots of landrace varieties.

Any more information about the growing conditions they didn't do well in? Did you post it up to show people at the time? Please share the link with us!

Haha, this mix up may be the best indica. Straight from the farms in Afghanistan!

Running 5 of these this year. May have to get more if it looks good!

Description

Genetics: Various Traditional Afghan Domesticates (“Landraces”)
Sourcing: Landrace Genetics, northern Afghanistan (Winter 2019)
Purpose: Charas (sieved)
Latitude: Various
Harvest: Various
Height: Various
Characteristics: Intense aromas, heavy branching, medium to broad leaflets
Classification: C. sativa subsp. indica var. afghanica (x C. sativa subsp. indica var. indica?)
Grow Type: Outdoor, greenhouse, or indoor

This winter (2019–20), we obtained accessions from the following crucial historic centres of cultivation in northern Afghanistan:

  • Balkh
  • Badakshan
  • Mazar-i-Sharif (i.e. the cultigen ‘Mazari’)
  • Kunduz
Unfortunately, during the process of transporting these seeds, a genius had the bright idea of mixing the bags together (after all, they’re “just cannabis seeds”).

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we aren’t able to rectify this situation.

However, all the seeds are healthy. Young plants are exhibiting marked var. afghanica leaflet traits.
I got those as a freebie from him. Honestly wasn't impressed with any of them. No keepers or even what I would call old-school classic Afghan. Mediocre at best but your millage may vary.

For true Afghan I would be looking more towards those 79' Xmas Bud. Squatty plants dark fat leaves. Florescent green piney/skunky buds. Heavy narcotic body buzz. Definitely what I would call classic Afghan....not all this fruity washed out so called Afghan crap floating around. But then u got the tall Mazar type Afghan.

Dubi discusses issues in the Pakistani Chitral Kush line... Posted a minute ago:

Sorry to hear about your bad experience @goingrey :( It's always disappointing to get an hermie plant when you are looking after that plant :(

Like most pure indica inbred lines, PCK does not produce in pure form heavy yields or overpowering effects, but the line has many great quality traits such as colors, mold and pest resistance, excellent quality and diversity of terpenes, kind quality effects, great resins, easiness of cultivation, etc .... that breeders cherish and love to play with. I only grow pure PCK like as a delicacy or rarity, but if i want to to enjoy the best traits from PCK such as colors, resins and terpenes, with stronger, more complex and longer lasting effects (and other traits), then i choose a PCK F1 hybrid showing strongly these PCK desired traits, but with plenty of hybrid vigour and yield. As @Hmong correctly pointed also in the practice by first hand experience, best results come in my opinion by crossing a really good pure sativa of long cola flower structures and approx 12 week flowering time with PCK in a direct sativa/indica F1 hybrid.

I really encourage you to keep exploring the line, landraces sometimes need bigger populations to find those special plants that are worth to keep and use for breeding. And not all the people like this line, but most love PCK.

PD: And correct! siete from Cannbioben and writer of the book you mention was the person who originally collected this particular Chitral line in Pakistan in the 90s and introduce her into the western cannabis breeding scene.

I’m also looking for a good Afghani seeds. I used to grow a lot of Afghan in the 90’s, had several keepers and one in particular from a pack of Afghan #1 from an unknown seed maker and bought from a quick advert in the back of a U.K. weed magazine of the time. So I came across THSeeds variety called roof ‘95 as it sounds a lot like what I use to grow back then. It’s the Afghan that was used in the breeding of S.A.G.E. Anyway I have ordered 2 packs to have a look through along with the inexpensive Afghan 90 from Kwik seeds. I too have gone through too many landraces that are on offer only to be dissatisfied although I have found nice Pakistans about.

Yup 79 Xmas good stuff. Rock hard potent buds early flowering ..well fairly early beginning of Oct at 45th parallel. Don't overlook the Freezeland/Friesland or Gorilla Gold lines for good solid early flowering Afghan genetics. I'll be doing some of them this outdoor season.

I know an old engineer from Nelson bc. He sourced hindu kush seeds that matched his elevation. Always got top dollar with low issues.

Here's some more landrace data mine from @landracewarden

So it depends on what is being selected for .If we're talking about selecting vigorous plant that produce a good product product with good yelds easy to process where it is grown. I believe this is always the case with regards to the farmers. If we're talking about selections for specific color for being acclinated to an indoor environment that is clearly not a concern of the farmer.Apples to oranges ( Ace to TRSC)

It's cheaper to grow cannabis than Poppies in Afgh The gov doesn't destroy cannabis farms like they do poppy fields. The Taliban still runs the Cannbis/Poppy fields. Those guys still make the world's best Hash. The USA is lacking in hash making knowledge. paklandracexchange and irrazinig post some of the best hash making videos.. They just posted a video how the Taliban makes their low grade hash.. I dig watching these..

Looks like some great hash! Thats more than I've ever seen! America needs to step it up. Everyone is going for these vape pens I think. Just make good hash.

I watched this video of the hash produciton in Lebanon by Vice news. They were talking about how the fields germinate on their own, and the crop is fully seeded. Its likely to have a few hermaphrodites when seed is propagating on its own for generations. It is probably stable lines through, its just an occurance.

Of course if you take that outdoor cultivated seed and bring it into an indoor environment, the stresses of indoor growing can promote the expression of hermaphrodites. My friend grew some Freisland M33 indoors and found a hermaphrodite female because of this recently.

Can I get some breeder recommendations?

EDIT: Humboldt CSI has some really interesting looking stuff.

Yeah they have the 79 Xmas bud at Humboldt CSI. Would really like to try it. Sounds like a good breeding tool if its different background than a lot of modern varieties.

Mine was from Hazeman. He called it Pine Tar Kush but is actually 79'Xmas bud same stuff that Csi sells. Those are the only sources I know of. I've got a few 1000 seeds of it. If you're in northern Michigan I'll give u a handful
