I’ve never personally seen any Cannabis plants “bleed”.

From the pictures it seems that it mainly occurs in plant that have the Purple/Reddish streaking on their Stems.

It wouldn’t be hard for someone to analyze the “Blood”...

I’d bet that there would be higher than normal levels of a red nutrient (Phosphorus?) and high levels of Carotenoids.

Hazemans LA Dream has a pheno that did this for me last year. It an LA Pure Kush x Blue Dream, not sure the genetic history beyond that. But for me there was a purple, almost black, pheno that when I’d trim a leaf it would have a drop of “blood” at the cut site.

My manipuri x oth didn't get any feeding and were planted in reused soil.

But i also think that high nutelevels could turn some plant in a bleeder .

Hey if u google "red sap cannabis" a lot of threads come up.

Reading some i found hawaiian snow a 2. time mentioned as a bleeding strain. Others were pck and ohsk1.

some users claim to get different colors with different lighting like hps makes red sap while same cut under mh makes purple sap.

Very interresting might be that one user describes the more adstringent the sap tastes the more potent the cut is. Can anyone confirm that? Would be very nice if this works reliable

TH seeds Mother of Berry

Tastes very bitter.

Doesn't get much more indica than this plant. way above average stem thickness, vigor, and huge leaves

Thai
Back in the mid 70's I grew out seeds I found and saved from Thai Sticks. Started under 4 foot double bulbs Fluorescents. Along side various Colombians and Mexicans.
The Thai would bleed red when topped. Stopped during flowering.

A bit interesting: a Todd's OHaze around about a month ago. This plant is a male and is starting to drop pollen now.

Sorry - pic removed. See my following post

Dude, your 200% correct. I think I downloaded your picture to compare to mine and then uploaded yours by mistake. Will take it down now. Sorry for the F up!

Here is a shot of the OHaze male:

I will post that pick when I find it. But just out of curiosity, I went down and snipped a branch to get another pick - and no red sap. I wonder if this has something to do with the age or the stage a plant is in? The time when I originally noticed this was when I was topping about 3 weeks into veg. Has anyone noticed colored sap late into the plant's flowering cycle?

apparently it's this thing called guttation that happens when there is high moisture in the rootzone and not enough transpiration, it causes pressure buildup that can push sap out through pores

I have noticed the small growing tips bleed but the thicker stems don’t.
This was true on a bleeder i had a few years ago as well.
Never tried looking for sap in a bud, interesting question.
