The implant's not that much better than Depo. My lady has had it and is constantly debating whether to get it taken out. I wouldn't get it while you're pregnant, it could affect development of Jr.

BTW, if you breast feed your period usually stops. We thought we were good to go. Not. Our daughter was born 13 months after our son. Oops. Might have been good if anybody had ever mentioned that to either of us. But the daughter turned out to be a beautiful person, so alls well that ends well... sometimes. Lots of friggin' shitty diapers for awhile though. And also, be advised, boys can and will piss in your face while you're changing them, if you aren't careful. Good luck.

The pill.

The depo is bad, and even though the new IUD's dont have copper (I THINK, double check), I still wouldn't use them, if I was a girl.

The pill is tested, true and works. The reason for others is for convenience, but you pay for that other ways, like them being more toxic.

I know two girls personally that had the thing in their arm (Implanon?). Itchy, irritating, made them sick.. Its all BS..

Find a pill that works for you if the first one doesn't (they usually do).

Try ortho tri cyclen first. It's worked for anyone I've dated without any bad side effects. In fact I think its the first one planned parenthood will prescribe. Plus, one girl I was dating was a Acup, I dont mind I actually prefer them a tad smaller than large. Well it went from an A cup to a B'ish cup and it was a nice little surprise. I wouldn't have cared, if they went back to A. I like change, kind of like the seasons.

It works and is safe for you, and its not really that hard to take a pill around the same time everyday. Maybe the first couple of days, but we do alot of the same things everyday without even thinking about it.

qdavid....Nope, you've got that all wrong, so please please please don't think of it or anyone that uses it as an abortioner. An IUD is simply a "plug" that closes the opening from the vagina to the uterus. Basically it's a little plastic "T" that sits in the cervix, closing that opening so that no sperm can enter the uterus. An awaiting egg is in the fallopian tubes....or sometimes in later cycle, in the uterus waiting to be fertilized. No sperm gets to an egg to even fertilize it. It's considered a "safer" alternative to taking horomones that put us at risk for deadly blood clots and stroke. But, IUDs have their down sides..... They can cause infection and possible sterilization of the woman. That's why I'm here....looking for the best way to prevent another baby from coming too close to this one. I just don't think it would be fair to my son to get pregnant too fast.

I'm glad you're here looking, and as you said IUD's can cause infection. Like PID, pelvic inflammatory disease, as well as a substantial increase risk of ectopic pregnancy! (pregnancy inside the Fallopian tube).

The thing about IUDs though is it doesn't physically block anything by itself (its in the uterus, past the cervix), but is covered in Copper wire which kills sperm trying to get through, makes the any fluid in there sticky and thick to prevent the sperm from moving (so I guess you can say it blocks, but indirectly, due to a reaction of your body to get the IUD [foreign object] out of you), and makes the lining of your uterus much more thin. Its just very invasive, and is covered in copper or secretes hormones (neither are good, but hormones are better). Sounds like you probably aren't going with it anyways, which is good IMO.

Its soo good to see/hear about more and more patents getting prenatal care to any degree. Its not completely necessary, but it helps so so so much. There is already so much to learn about babies under the care of a doctor, let alone without a doctor.

Your baby has an awesome set of parents :dance013:

You could have the Doc or a plumber install it.
With a little twist of the ol' walnut sack he can open the tap when it's time for Poopy Jr, the sequel.

i personally take nothing, CC and I are trying for a baby... lol. i took pills.... serveral different ones and all made me sick in all sorts of fun ways llol. tried ortho evra the patch, was fine for 2 years then my body started to reject it and made me sick. Dr. suggested i stop all together. I don't like IUD because.... well my dr. doesn't recommend it,for woman who get infections easily. and also a side effect is the is if you do get preg with the IUD it make stick to the fetus. but this is a 5 yr IUD i don't know if it's the same as a 10yr. i take nothing since i'm trying to have a baby, but the iud scares me lol. have you thought about tying your tubes? my moms friend had it done when she was younger and had it reversed at 40yrs and it was successful, she had a healthy baby boy after.

My personal experience goes as follows:

Othro Tri-Cyclen (28 day cycle) - took that for five years, it made me fat but my face was clear and sex sucked. I still got pregnant (three times).

No Birth Control at all - I have never been so healthy in my life. Obviously this was the greatest when my ex-husband had a vasectomy, fortunately that lead to my divorce (Hank Moody thinks that a vasectomy makes the women look at their man as immasculine). So now back on birth control.

5 Year IUD (Morinda) had that for 3 years, gained 50 lbs in less than a year and was certifiably crazy, mad mood swings and still no sex drive. The only plus with this was my periods stopped all together.

10 year copper IUD- I have had that for 2 years now, it's been the closest to using nothing at all. I have since lost 30 lbs, my new husband loves how nice I am now and sex is a constant must. The trick is to keep the "fish line" longer so it doesn't impale your lovers poor schnitzel.

wow, only one person mentioned the ring?? I'm a no-hormone girl myself, but I tried it. Also, I'm freakishly in sync with moon cycles and know exactly when I can get preggers. I ditched the BC, I just avoid a direct hit (haha I've never said that before) and get creative for a few days a month and it works for me. LOL, maybe my BF will give me some good rep for this posting ;) teehee! Anyway, the ring is something I tried for a little while and thought it was something I could actually hang with. I did for a bit, but just didn't need it. Its easy to use and you totally forget about it, the hormones are low dose and released slowly throughout the month.

unfortunately for me i'm allergic to most types of contraception, pill, implanton, basically any hormone products. IUD's are not avaliable in aus and the Dr told me diaphragms are only 80% effective when used with spermicide, to top it off i'm also allregic to latex! fun times...

after trying a whole barrage of different contraceptions and just getting very sick in the process, my GP eventually told me to go by my cycle and do the whole withdraw thing, so thats what i do now. thankfully i still haven't gotten preggers so i hope it keeps up.

I find that the best form of contraception for any woman is a pair of chainmail panties with a 316 Surgical stainless steel chastity belt worn over the top secured with an 18 digit combination lock made of super-hardened steel that only an OXY-ACETYLENE torch could remove.....

....that should work...

hahaha. I have a friend with the IUD and kept the "fish line" longer. I've noticed it on occasion, but it's not uncomfortable at all. I could see the short ones being somewhat painful when you happen to catch the end of it.

external ejaculation is best. you have to train your idiot man to do it. sorry, yeah i am a man. sounds like your man is an idiot tho.
have sex at the time(s) you CANT get pregnant just in case he f's up and comes inside you.
with all the porn out having the man end orally, facially?, he should be happy to oblige, you should learn to handle the taste of yourself as well, cause he'll eventually get tired of painting a map of Hawaii all over your chest or butt . i had a girlfriend that could not take B.C's and that's what we did for a fairly long time. His only issue is to make sure he does NOT go off before you do, or else grab the idiot by his ears and make him eat at the Y till you do.
He should be doing his job too by giving you multiples by eating, drilling, eating, drilling and then some, before he blows up. As you've been together longer it will be easier for him to do.

Like a friend of mine once said "I don't mind if she doesn't swallow, as long as she wears it proudly". Ha ha, i'm killin me. time to get out of this ladies room while i still got my 'nads.

My wife had that damn mirena thing put in after she had our daughter and it was awful I could feel it when we were having sex and even worse so could she so she could not reach orgasm because she was thinking about how that damn thing feels inside her.

I just got off of Depo-Provera after five years. Before that, I didn't take anything for four years, and did Depo for about 4 years prior to that. Most of the other women I know (I'm in a women's group) hated Depo, but it worked well for me. No period, no PMS'ing, didn't bother my sex drive.

The pill made me look swollen up, weirdly in a way that made me look more bloated than the Depo actually made me get.

I had to finally go off the Depo b/c they are now discovering that it can cause bone loss. So can Norplant, btw, which is why I'm not on that now.

The ring has a lot of risks associated with that. When it came out, I was excited, but after watching lots of people have problems, I decided no.

I was going to do the Mirena IUD, but first there were some stories about it not being that great, then I found out that it tends to FALL OUT of women who have not had children, such as myself.

So anyhow, I had planned to go off the Depo when I went for my physical, but I knew that I'd swell up with the pill AND there's no way I can remember a pill EVERY day for the next 15 years or more until I go through menopause. I DO NOT want children.

So the lady sent me to see a gynecologist for a birth control consult and basically, b/c I'm over 35, there is too much risk factors for blood clots or bone loss or whatever on basically every form of birth control, the IUD falls out of women (and a shocking rate) who hadn't had a kid and he said my only real choice was to get my tubes tied. So I did it last week. They did it labroscopically through a half inch incision in my belly button and an inch or so incision bellow my stomach. They clamp the fallopian tube and make a loop and then slide a band over the loop to hold it closed. It's fairly easy to reverse, although hell will freeze over before I change my mind, I must say. There was a lot of pain when I woke up, but mostly I felt it elsewhere in my body. They gave me lots of vicodin, so it was easy to get through that. I did lose a week of getting nothing done, but that was ok, cuz I was on vacation. Still I had no difficulty going back to work this week and things are healing nicely.

I'm excited that I don't have to take hormonal birth control again b/c the hormones are probably a pretty significant portion of the weight I want to lose and any way you slice it, losing weight will be easier without having the hormones. I'm a little worried about having PMS and a period again, b/c I haven't had either in most of my 20s and 30s. But that's what Grape Krush is for. i'm happy to answer other questions privately. I had a REALLY good dr. When the anesthesiologist came in before the surgery he mentioned that my dr. had only done about a couple of million tubal ligations. The walls in his office had him as member and chairperson of a number of gyn boards going back to the early 80s. When I went to the dr. last night b/c I had a sore throat (possibly due to the breathing tube last week, I might have gotten an infection), and he asked who had done my surgery, the dr. said "oh, he's really good!"

So I guess if anyone wants more information, just reply back or pm me.
