Right when Deathrow Records became a big Deal ....early mid 90's was when you heard the Tag "OG" labeled to anything they that was "Hard" or 'Bad Ass' ...

Nothing more...nothing less...just like no one called Cannabis "Chronic" until Dr Dre released his first solo album....

Kush was just a name people in the hood was call bomb herb..... OG Kush just meant not only was it the super bomb but it was str8 Gangsta....

Never heard the word OG used in anything cannabis related until the music started embracing the word "OG"... it came from 90's Gangster Rap Music aka Cali Product

Back in those days ...no one on the Eastcoast was calling themselves OG'z or anything like that... Think Wu Tang vs Deathrow Records...

One side calling everything FIre, Dro, God, Son , Blah blah... Cali Side...CHronic...OG...etc...

I cant believe how fucken twisted this whole thing became....lol its pretty hillarious

I remember it being stress, pretendo, indo, or Humboldt. then later on there was name brands and beasters too.

Lame homie, come up with something better than that

@thugpoet... I'm just saying it makes sense and in my own experience in Indonesia the best buds come from highland locations. I'm pretty sure it's the same with the Zamal and Mauritian buds, all them carrot smelling buds. All the best comes from up in the mountains, I know it's also because it's easier to grow it up there with out getting in shit (Mauritius is pretty hard on any drug use I know, I lived with a couple of Mauritians for 2 years, one was my girlfriend the other her cousin, bloke was blazing non stop loved Aussie weed) La Reunion on the other hand is like the wild F&cking west compared to Mauritius, It's as if the French forgot the place exists. Seriously though, if you think about it a lot of the really primo hash strains originate up in the mountain areas of Afghanistan/Pakistan/Nepal all high altitudes. I'm talking trichromes. I'm also quoting and old head who's schooling me (and I ain't a kid mate, plenty of lines on this face) who's been there, smoked that, the world over. I'm sure we could have a pissing match over this petty issue for pages but what's the use? this isn't even our thread... I'm sure if you read into it you'll find some merit in the theory of blue spectrum light being at higher levels at higher altitudes resulting in higher trichrome coverage on the plants which have adapted to life up there, the guy who I referred to before is the one who spoke to me about this and he could school most of this site, otherwise I wouldn't be sticking my neck out spreading it.

I absolutely didn't say highland landraces weren't fire, I love all landraces Indica or Sativa, and i agree with the hash producers, in marocco they grow in mountains as well

What do you make of island landraces like Zamal, Hawaïan, jamaïcan? the sun is at more than a million killometers do you really think 2000 meters are going to change much ? the lattitude plays definetely and acclimatation... As for OG kush and other clone only strains, it's profound bullshit who gives a fuck, throw a full selection and you'll get some damn brilliant clones yourself... Do you really think that the same lineage will only produce a certain pheno 1 time? like a guy said earlier OG stands for overhyped genetics... And kush doesn't mean bomb ass ganja it just means "mountain" in Afghanistan, hindu kush being a big ass mountain chain that stretches for many, many miles and the origin of the cannabis plant according to some specialists (haven't got any names though)

Sorry mate must be a misunderstanding, it's just that I took your comment about the altitude not making a difference as you saying that a strains' acclimated height doesn't have anything to do with potency which I believe is incorrect. It's proven fact that at higher altitudes there is more blue spectrum in the light, that's what I was trying to get across. More blue spectrum light leads to more trichrome coverage (in theory) I took your qouting of my post as the basis for the comments which followed as the basis of your belief. Just a misunderstanding, no worries. I agree with you though on the OG this and OG that being a load of shit, just usually used to sell a product... its a name and nothing more, I was just having a guess at it's origin for shits 'n giggles. No hard feelings mate. Simple misunderstanding

OG & OGTW

OG & OGTW

WTF, Crypts and alot of Bullshit;

OG and OGTW to include FTW and a multitude of other acronyms WERE used as graffiti on everything it could be written on back in the late 60s and 70s by stoners & cultivators. Over Grow and "Over Grow The World", I would gather that OG itself is a derivative of that saying. I'm strictly speculating here. :ying:

Ok, so here is a good possibility---- early/mid 90's Norcal or Mass breeder experimenting with the dog bud and a kush of some sorts sends out a few zips or whatever of nicely cured flower to a distant friend with the two words "dog" and "kush" written on one of the bags with marker. In transit the d from dog was lost, leaving the bag of new never-before-seen bud labeled OG KUSH. A very influential and skilled family of breeders in the Trinity area swear by this version of events. Keep in mind this is in no way meant to contradict the p-bud or chem story, just more of a continuation.

Original Genetics.

Bred by Dave Richards in southern California in the eighties.

Thai, Afghani, Hashplant.

Brainchild of Frank Gegax.

That's the story.

Can't believe this is still debated... even when the answers have been given for years you all still want to throw around rumors. Lol.
