when I was that age we didn't even have cell phones or net...and maybe 7 channels on the tv that shut down late night and played the nat anthem and showed the flag.. before doing so...man times have changed..for info library dewey decimal system and card catalogue ..then hope your book is actually on shelf...very frustrating....and all porn was second hand gross...now its all on a computer available to even a smart monkey....yeeeeehhhawww

I was around for the tail-end of those days....sorta. We were poor as dirt in the 80s and early 90s so it was really like I was living in the 70s and earlier. Good times.

we haven't seen nothing yet folks! things are going to get super crazy!

^ my sentiments. as another poster on this thread (waveguide) stated: the real life truly shocking stuff (his example was ti) is kept off msm. it's all starting to come out in a tsunami style deluge. won't be anyone not shocked.

SEVEN channels? I only had three, & one of them was pro wrestling from Asheville NC (johnny weaver, moondog, & various midgets & albinos), and the other two had more snow than Boston has this year. :) second-hand porn? pages stuck together?

so why do you think it is that you feel like nothing can shock you huh ;)

To clarify, advances in technology are amazing.

It's just the actions of humans that no longer shock me.

Chance are as I type, some teacher is banging a student.

Every country on earth has agents in other countries doing covert illegal things.

you mean, Congress is thinking about legalizing cannabis, disbanding the DEA, then hanging themselves as a sign that they regret lying to us for the last 50 years or so? :woohoo: actually, I CAN'T imagine that, LOL! if I had all of the various types of acid, psilocybin, mescaline, & MDA that I took over the years, I still could not work up a hallucination that far-fetched...sorry.:)

At about five years old..

At about five years old..

I grew up in Hollywood and I learned early not to trust the media..

I went to see the Bozo Show and they were full and I was crying.

So Bozo had another kid give up his seat.

Then he called on to play the Coke Bottle Cap game, it was rigged.

I picked the wrong one and was declared a winner?

Bozo was a loser, I haven't been shocked since.

Half of what you see and nothing they tell you

iirc that's from either 1984 or brave new world.. continuous war in some distant place needing constant citizen support and vigilance..

but both those guys knew what they were doing when they wrote those books... criticism not futurism :)

I'd say 9/11 was the last time I was truly shocked. I stood there watching the TV with my mouth hanging open. But I also knew people in the building, so it hit home pretty hard. One of my friends had quit 2 days before, and was scheduled to have his exit interview at 9:00 a.m. They called him the day before and rescheduled it for 3:00. He would have been there. Another guy I know managed to get out just before the collapse. serious shit.

After that nothing seems to get more than a raised eyebrow from me.

2 girls one cup was the first fucked up video i refused to watch. still haven't seen it. but yes to the others...haha

and about 9/11. I was more shocked when I came downstairs in the morning to my gramma standing in front of the the tv yelling "fucking ragheads!" first time i ever saw her that pissed.

I thought that I was beyond being shocked long ago but learned otherwise just 2 weeks ago while going through my moms papers searching for her divorce attorney's name. my folks divorced in the mid '80's. Anyway I needed to read everything to hopefully discover his name as I couldn't find the actual/final divorce decree

I found distasteful accusations made by both of them in the contents of the large box I had in front of me. The most shocking piece of information was the fact that dad forced mom to have an abortion in 1959 (I was born in '56) which she actually had to travel to Cuba for :yoinks:
