I have a ~$100 Samsung S630. It's prolly the cheapest point and shoot that still qualifies as a digital camera. Macros suck with the auto (point and shoot) setting. Macros are better in the manual and program settings. Hope this helps.

I have a decent point n shoot cannon power shot A480 AiAf 10.0 megapixel and my macro function works like total crap i should take a pic with it and post it
it just looks like a fuzzy pic ya know just one thats just a minute amount out of focus i'm willing to bet thats because i'm not using in on stationary objects or on a tripod maybe i dunno
we paid about 200 online for the camera or something like that maybe a lil less
but man my brother makes me mad bastard gots all the fixings ring flash macro camera body i just wanna well nm

I hear you, I got me a brother that's done well for himself and he's always been making me jealous with the latest and greatest this and that. Just once I wish I could afford to one up him :) Well the camera that took the pic I posted a couple of posts back was/is a Nikon CoolPix 4800. It's a 4.1MP camera with 8.3X Optical Zoom and 4X Digital Zoom. It's virtually obsolete now but in it's hayday it sold for around $330. Now they have the P100 which is 10.1MP and with a 26X Optical zoom which is like the equivilent of super telephoto. You can find it on Ebay for right around $300.

Here's the thing not all digital cameras were/are created equal. They share some commonalities but each has areas of expertise where they dominate. In the case of Nikon one area they dominate in is Macros. What really lets me get those nice macroshots more then anything else is that Nikons typically can autofocus from 1cm (.4"). Imagine a 10MP camera with 26X optical zoom taking a macro from 1cm. I've seen some cameras with what they call macro mode that require you be a minimum of 6" from what you're shooting. Another important thing is what does the camera have in the way of stabilizing a picture? Nikon is also good about that and that stabilizing control helps eliminate the effect most trembling hands would have thereby not requiring the use of a tripod.

I'm not sure but as I've understood it, where Cannon's were best known was in the area of like portrait shots and getting the best results for things like that. So if you're wanting awesome macros I'd recommend shopping around for a good Nikon.

hello ic maggers was wondering, im a having a big problems iwth purple stems and im at a lot, i have all the mediums, hydro coco, rockwool, ocean forest soil, and water buckets, and all my plants have teh same problem purple stems, ive recently been feeding with just faucet water that comes out at ppms of 200, and i cut back to using just low ppm base nutes which the leaves are showing no deficiences in, but the stem is just hard and woody, the petioles are purple now 2 and all plants started out with green stems and the purpling started showing in the newer growth, ive tried all the teas, Liquid karma, oceans organics, and just cant figure out whats goin on. i havent tried boosting the calmag bcuz of my high city water count and figure its got enough, i have every brand of nutes and basically as far as dif nutes on a weekly schedule if i wanted, im scared of pumping them full of shit and over nuting so ive been keeeping it simple with sva and svb as well as some sweet, humic acid, and kelp every now then, if anyone has any advice or experience with this purpling of the stems please let me know, i dont wanna take clones with this purple stuff as i feel it will affect the over all vigor of the plant, ph depending which medium are right on point rock wool 5.8-6 and soil 6.5-6.7, again keep my ppm count low on account of through experience ive learned this plant is a weed and weeds are able to grow in amazing terrains and harsh conditions and prosper and u can receive just he same product, yield, and quality of meetings is basic demands, please IC MAggers, im all ears. Purple stems, don't worry about it, the plants vascular system is working. When I see purple I know the clones are good to go.

personally i'd say you need an RO anything 200ppm or higher you need an RO for thats my rule of thumb to follow my brother runs hydro ebb n flo with coco and this is the magic number he gave me so its what i use :) so i'd say buy an RO and try this i'd buy at least a 200GPD or bigger i'd really say buy the merlin its well worth it with the smaller RO's your going to be paying outrageous water bills just to let ya know it took me a fer RO's to figure this out

It looks like the clones were taken from a plant the was vegin under floresence lighting and got purple on the side to the light. If it were from a ph imbalance it would be the whole stem and not on one side.

How goes it hempy?

super purple stems

super purple stems

i have ro but usually dont use it till i go into flower, ro comes out at 7 ppm, i usually do calmag to 150 then do bases, ph hydro-water, cocoa, rockwool, at 5.8-6, soil 6.5-6.7, could possibly be the temperature change it has been getting super hot but the 5 ton usually takes care of it ill have to check, but compared to the photograph shown my stems are twice darker and everything, not little spots of green except myabe at the base on some plants, others its gone all the way down . i just finished the bigger space and ive can smell that ive been going overboard with the sweet. could sweet have some effect on the color?

i wouldnt think so happy reaslly the only thing outdoing the sweets such as molasses is going to do is hurt your wallet not the plants :)
it's not even fro the plants it's food for the microbes living in your growing medium which are very important but over feeding them na can't be done as far as i know i used to put 3TBSP's molasses per gallon now i only use 1 tea. per gallon
I dont get what your so worried about here so what they turn purple ooo la la is it standing up erect and free of pests?
If you answered yes then your over thinking this K.I.S.S.

they are pest free but im worried bcuz they werent always purple they were all green and now this transformation is happeneing and im noticing that its affecting their growing schedule, i use to be able to get 150 cuts off each one every 2 weeks, and the number are decreasing and the rooting time is also affected :(, i use sweet during veg to promote faster cloning, ive noticed when giving the moms less n and some carbs with proper dome conditions rooting appears in 7 days.
