just checked out the current roster and about 17 are listed as playing for EU club teams. Dunno if they are starters etc.. but that would make 17 out of 23 lol

From the top leagues only I Italy seems not to have an american player.
Funny cause Rossi who scored against the USA for Italy has grown up in the states but he chose to play for his grandfathers country.
talking about biting the hand that feeds you. lol

Yes, it's great , more and more opportunities for rising American Football stars.
Donovan is really carrying this team on his back and giving them morale, it's been great watching them own Mexico over and over.
What I really want to see though, is the USA team beating Argentina in the World Cup, oh crap, sorry, Argentina's not making the Cup this time around....

..Well we do that too in Europe with a game called RUGBY.....which is a tackling game where the participants don't get all dressed up like Power Rangers.....

HOw about instead of talkin trash all night about which sport is tougher we look at it scientifically.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7tGY-VDx3o

For anyone too lazy to watch the whole thing or click on it, the rugby hit was measured as having 1600 pounds of force, the american football hit tripled it with 4200 pounds of force. Also the nature of the football hit is different as it is spread through the pads.

They decided however that because a rugby player usualy makes 3 times as many tackles as a football player it is fair to say that they are pretty even.

Now i was born in NZ and wen i came to the U.S i dissed the crap out of football calling it "rugby for pussies" and i guess i got wat i deserved wen i started playing lol.

As someone who's played both i can say that u definitly bleed more in rugby but concussions and other injuries go to football hands down.

I almost don't want this to happen. If we get to be the best at soccer, the rest of the world will officially have nothing.

Can you imagine if we win the world cup and legalize pot in the same here? Jesus, the rest of the world might as well just give up. There would be no reason to leave, ever.

Was a big moment for the US yesterday. We were all very shocked watching the game and expected a let down at any moment to send us packing. Spain actually played an ok game for me. They just had trouble with the finishing touch in the box. Lots of acrobatic tackles from the back four for the US. Tim Howard had a great game in goal and is carrying the legacy of great american goalkeepers forward. Perfect defense around the box and two lucky goals (off of defensive mistakes) were the difference.

Regardless of the outcome on Sunday, this tournament has been a great experience for the younger players. Playing Italy, Brazil, Egypt, and Spain all in one tournament has to be a great preparation for next years cup. Not to mention getting to play in South Africa before the cup kicks off next summer will give them a taste of what to expect with the pitch and the weather.

ole ole ole USA!

Man, I see peaceful gentlemen fighting like the Israelis and Palistine over this. Maybe this thread needs to be moved into the politics and religion forum.

That was Freakin AWESOME.... I watched the USA battle hard against Italy with a man down and didn't loose until the 75 min or so. I think man per man the US has the talent to play anyone and with the players getting more and more international expierence they will only get better.

Just ban those MoFo horns.........arrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggggggggg.......

i can't get mad at u as i used to say the same thing. Football was something that i found very boring when i first got it here, but when i got into and appreciated wat was happenin it became one of the most important things to me.

I'm not saying for sure you'd like it if u understood it and gave it time to grow on u, im just saying thats what happened with me and my dad and brothers and other foreigners i noe.

anyway i think we are all missing the point which is that the USA just got a big win in a sport we don't even really care about which is ur 1 sport so hahahaha USA USA USA!!!!!

USA!!!

Which is exactly by futebol will never be popular in the U.S.

Not enough commercial time, so the big guns aren't going to market it.

....I did live in the states for 5 years or so and saw a few American (football?) games.....it was a good day out and lots of fun.....but I much prefer to watch a real football match where 11 guys on each side are running/tackling for 90 mins trying to score goals....mostly with their feet.....just a matter of personnal choice.

...It's a good thing that finally we see the U.S.A. doing well against other world class teams....
