I'm not going to bother reading through this entire thread to see if someone else bothered to actually click on the link to the WHO site - but note that the WHO actually said that there are no documented cases of transmission through airborne particles (although in theory it could be possible if there were actually suspended droplets of bodily fluids in the air - still, they seem to indicate this is unlikely and not yet supported).

TL;DR: citing sources is awesome, accurately citing them is awesomer!

So I'm guessing you would be very comfortable sitting next to an infected person that was coughing and sneezing in your space?

Ahhh "close contact", does not only include someone sitting next to you...but can include someone 6 feet away. WTF?

What CDC says "close contact" is--
Three feet has often been used by infection control professionals to define close contact and is based on studies of respiratory infections; however, for practical purposes, this distance may range up to 6 feet. The World Health Organization defines close contact as "approximately 1 meter;" the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration uses "within 6 feet." For consistency with these estimates, this document defines close contact as a distance of up to approximately 6 feet.

According to the CDC, an “outbreak” is the occurrence of more cases of disease than normally expected within a specific place or group of people over a given period of time.

Is this an Ebola Outbreak? Yes...by CDC's definition.

im not old but ive survived so far..

various meteors which were destined to hit earth, sars, bird flu, bse/cjd, end of the mayan calendar 2014, even the millennium bug was a crock of bull shit. I get tired of all these catastrophe's. its almost like people want to die.

its very real, I don't deny that, but these things come and go. plenty of epidemics have hit the human race.. we are still here. actually I don't recall any time in history that a virus has single handily wiped out an entire species.

So...I have a question. Why, in 2010 did the Dept of Defense (not HHS) sign a $140 million contract to develop the "TKM Ebola vaccine"?

Now follow the bouncing ball....and see if you can smell "weaponization"?

First from a press release today http://www.hcplive.com/articles/HHS-Backs-Development-of-Experimental-Ebola-Vaccine

"This represents extends research on the vaccine that was started by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a branch of the National Institutes of Health, and prior animal studies conducted by the Department of Defense (DoD). The HHS statement noted that in the DoD tests, “a single dose of the experimental Ebola vaccine provided 100% protection in non-human primates.”"

So I ask myself, why is the DOD involved in Ebola vaccine, especially for a "single dose" type?

From CNN earlier this month, http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/06/health/ebola-drugs-in-the-works/

"TKM-Ebola

This year, the Food and Drug Administration approved the use of the experimental TKM-Ebola drug to test on suspected cases of the infection.

TKM-Ebola was used on Dr. Richard Sacra, the patient taken from Africa to Nebraska for treatment in September. He had been working as a doctor in Liberia when he became infected.

The drug is made by Tekmira Pharmaceuticals, a Canadian company.

Studies in 2010 funded in part by the U.S. Department of Defense's Joint Project Manager Transformational Medical Technologies office showed "100 percent protection from an otherwise lethal dose of Zaire Ebola virus," according to Tekmira's website.

In January, Tekmira started phase I clinical trials on the drug, testing it on a small number of human subjects. Testing was put on hold after a volunteer developed moderate gastrointestinal side effects after getting a high dose of the medicine.

In August, the FDA modified its status to a "partial clinical hold" so Tekmira could give the drug to doctors or hospitals that requested it in emergencies like Sacra's.

In March, the FDA gave the drug a fast track designation, allowing the testing process to be sped up. Tekmira was also given the authority to use it under the investigational new drug application rule, so patients could be treated outside a clinical trial."

OK, now what/who is this TKM-Ebola?

From their website--http://www.tekmira.com/pipeline/tkm-ebola.php
"In 2010, Tekmira signed a $140-million contract with the DoD to advance an RNAi therapeutic, which utilized our LNP technology, to treat Ebola virus infection. In 2013, the collaboration was expanded to include significant advances in LNP formulation technology, including a new LNP formulation that was more potent, the ability to be able to lyophilize (freeze-dry) LNP formulations and an LNP formulation that can be administered intravenously.

In March 2014, we were granted a Fast Track designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the development of TKM-Ebola, our anti-Ebola viral RNAi therapeutic. The FDA's Fast Track is a process designed to facilitate the development and expedite the review of drugs in order to get important new therapies to the patient earlier."

About BioDefense Therapeutics (BD Tx)

This work is being conducted under contract with the US Department of Defense's (DoD) BioDefense Therapeutics (BDTX), a Joint Product Manager within the Medical Countermeasure Systems (JPM-MCS) Joint Project Management Office. A component of the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense, JPM-MCS aims to provide U.S. military forces and the nation with safe, effective and innovative medical solutions to counter chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats. JPM-MCS facilitates the advanced development and acquisition of medical countermeasures and systems to enhance our nation's biodefense response capability. For more information, visit www.jpeocbd.osd.mil."

OK, they had a cozy deal with FDA and are charged to develop a vaccine "that can be administered intravenously". Why? and who/what is JPM-MCS (another government alphabet soup agency). Well, from JPEO-CDB website http://www.jpeocbd.osd.mil/Packs/Default2.aspx?pg=0

"The Joint Program Executive Office is the Joint Services single focal point for research, development, acquisition, fielding and life-cycle support of chemical and biological defense equipment and medical countermeasures.

Within the Joint Program Executive Office, seven Joint Project Managers lead, manage and direct the acquisition and fielding of chemical and biological detection and reconnaissance systems, individual and collective protection systems, decontamination systems, information management systems, medical devices, drugs and vaccines, installation and force protection systems, and elimination.

Located throughout the United States, each Joint Project Management Office leverages talent and expertise from across the services under a single chain of command, providing the best chemical and biological defense technology, equipment and medical countermeasures at the right cost, at the right time and at the right place."

OK, they are a "contracting arm" for DOD. Not that it is any proof, but let's assume DOD has/is weaponizing Ebola...I say the perfect cover to do this type of research is under the guise of "vaccination"...since developing it for "good" (vaccine) or "evil" (bio-warfare) requires the same research. Why DOD...why not HHS? Remember sequester and all that cry about funding? Something smells here.

BTW, I served time in the Army...in a unit that did not exist, at a location that did not exist, and we did things that did not happened, so excuse me if I sound a bit more "skeptical" than most....not paranoid, but I kinda seen this movie before, "my government says one thing and while doing/denying another".

dude.. you're not making any sense. black people don't have any money. how are they going to pay for a flight to liberia. if you nuked all the white americans then they won't fly anywhere and catch diseases.

Bats are considered the most likely natural reservoir of EBOV.
Hope that means your guano is safe.

Also don't eat any chimps or gorillas.

And stay away from Texas, but you already knew that.
