I have a question i Grow in the earth and always find that when i loosen the soil around the root ball the plants respond with about 6inches stem growth and some older fan leaf falling off, i don't do much soil amending. Do you guys loosen the solid around the root ball, i get right up in there with my machete 4 inches from base. i can even hear the roots braking but i don't mind as the plants will grow more, i do this every 3 weeks or so. by then the earth is hard again.
Do you guys loosen the soil around and under? i grow one pounders though, gorilla and never water.
My grows are all about oxygen to the root zone. The pallets provide this as well as drainage, plus if you sit a smartpot on concrete all season it will leave a pretty bad stain. Since I do not own this house I didnt want to fuck up the patio. there is 3 rows of 4 there, I extended the patio to make a third row with that blue gravel you see.
The strain is the fake kens gsc going around more similar to mendo purps(not urk/gdp), would easily go 7+ lbs in my full sun location. Have the real cookies now though thanks to a generous member of the forum.
wow zro super clean setup! love your work bro.. what size are the smarties? love your technique about focusing on getting air to those roots, very smart. your plants look as happy as can be! keep it up brotha!
This is not a joke...is there only one plant in each 200 gallon container? Does the soil mix and aeration do that good of a job to take one plant to the moon?

yea my neighbors are mad cool besides the bitch across the street but last year you could smell the OGs from the entrance to the neighborhood and nobody ever complained. I typically would not have ever grown outside here, its an indoor location but certain circumstances changed things up for me last year and Im trying to take a new approach to my growing career.
madjag, its a combination of things. soil mix, water, food, genetics and tLc. not my first rodeo
A little seed was planted and into a tree it grew. From it came this special gift, right from this tree to you. My work is like a seedling and I will plant it here with care. In this post will be a gift that with the world I will share. Blessings!
I started this (first) grow before finding this forum / thread and a lot of questions have been answered. but i still have a few.
1. how much more do you get out of a 300 gal pot then a 200 or 100 gal. is it the size of the root mass that determines plat size?
2. how can you over water in a smart type pot if it runs out the bottom?
3. If you use liquid fertilize. how can you over fertilize if it can run out the bottom? I actually have been trying to over fert. just to see how much i can add (get a slight burn) i cant do it. even thought i have increased my ppm from 1300 to 1600 an tried at 1800 ppm , i feeding about 4 gal (2 morning 2 evening) fert a day, and 5 gal water ph 7.3 every morning.?
4. when do people switch form grow to flower fertilizer?
All is well here. Top dressing, Age Old Liquid Dose, and lots of HortiTrellis going up.
Another huge THANKS to TomHill for changing my perspective when he posted those first pics way back on Overgrow. I always reflect back on that. I certainly wouldn't be doing what I'm doing today without Tom choosing to share that knowledge.
