I've run with an ambient temp tank, just to see what happens. Expect much higher PSI and quicker flood times, but slower recovery time, especially if you aren't adding any heat to the collection vessel. With one column, it shouldn't be a big deal with the longer recovery time. If you were doing multiple columns, I would suggest chilling your tank, just for the faster recovery times.
People have been saying that the colder your butane, the less plant waxes get pulled out, and I am inclined to agree with them. However, that doesn't mean that a non-chilled tank wont produce a kick ass extract!
