You sir……

Clearly know what the fuck you’re doing!

I dig it.

(y):cool::smokey:
Thank you fine sir…

Well over a decade ago I did tons studies on different spectrum lighting on plants timing, morphology, cannabinoid content etc - one of those was @ UV, it’s my opinion pure UVB and only that is the secret sauce…. What’s good for humans too, what mimics the vitamin D synthesis curve, well pretty much the UVI - UV index which coincidentally mimics the UVB range and I found a meter & bulbs for this purpose…. It’s been a while since I’ve used these but often it’s during winter, go figure…. Ceilings are @ 11 feet

2-3’ feet from bulbs - this meter is weighted 99% to UVB, it’s nearly all UVB as it measures UVI - companies website has its exact tolerances for anyone whom cares…

These bulbs are getting old… I used to run these only a couple hours a day or everything was toast but in here this high I’ll do for 4 at midpoint and try and time my time in there for them too….

Somewhere in this site @4-5 years ago, maybe bit longer I posted a lot more details @ this than above….

I can tell you this, I was and am still well out ahead of the light MFG’s though it does seem they are finally catching on some

“Sunlight, in particular UVB between the wavelengths of 290 and 315 nm, is the main source for producing vitamin D in the skin and is the primary source of vitamin D for the body.”

Spectral Graph of above bulbs

Now would you look at that…. Humans, Reptiles, plants….. LIFE crave our UVB

Psoriasis & Cannabis pushed me down that rabbit hole, just one of many….

Peace

Fantastic post!

Don’t think a room can possibly be any cleaner and well built.

Also i dig the Buchner funnel/erlenmeyer
Flask. What are you using there as a vacuum?

Love your posts please keep em coming!!

TY - I just hooked the filter flask up to the accessory port of something I already owned, an old Food saver, bought an attachment to make it fit.... I've got a buddy that bought a couple fittings and hooked his up to his vacuum cleaner, total overkill lol, but funny, clever and useful nonetheless......

PS: huge other added benefits of UVB, fungal pressures evaporate.... but anyone whom has grown herbs under cover or without outside, knows that UV's have benefits and hindrance...... even if SamS says otherwise, tbh, I question if he ever did any studies with UV based on his findings other than minor anecdotal observations... Just my speculations but based from experience(s), both with UV and the man, lol

Ended up planting 153

After pulling most large weeds it’s ready for the cultivator - only powered machine used in any of my farming

140 here + 13 more I had to grab to fill the 3 rows

In foreground in both these pics you can see beets & carrots grinding up through the weeds, @ a month ago I took a 12’ 2x4 and bent over tons of 5-6’ tall weeds blocking the seeds I planted where garlic once roamed what felt like a year ago… I’ll harvest these into winter and even after covered in snow… experience teaches me all of this

The rest of tilled up area gets covered in 20 year 5Oz fabric… then in spring it’s rolled up, tilled and then depending on what’s planted either rolled back down or kept rolled up

Back thingy I built, works great for everything that’s been in it, gets hot but breaths well - it’s left exactly as is year round… has had feet of snow on top no issues - has also had the roof raised by tomatoes too - lol

tell you what man ,
collecting honey from ones own hives is a real nice thing to do ,
we are lucky where i live to have masses of eucalypts and a number of varieties of those ,
but im sure your neighbourhood has plenty of sources of food for the little guys too ,

this is from a harvest i did a few days ago ,
they had built some comb on the lid , i guess because they were running out of space and there was plenty of material around to turn to honey still ,
its appreciated by friends i share it with , bloody delicious if i do say so myself ..

They still let you use the post in that ass backwards nation - I’m drooling & sweating over here my brother !!

One of these years where I’m not project backlogged or unexpected flood surprise, or a kid pops out lol….

Starting hives is on the LT to do list :) for certain !

I’ll have to settle for fresh from the trees for now

id love to be able to grow some of the things you can there ,
i drool too ,
but then where i grow stuff has its benefits too ,
ideally we all need a place in the tropics and one in a temperate zone ,, lol ..

the sorts of apples etc they have bred for this climate cant compete with the ones from your yard ,
i wont even bother , so ill continue drooling , haha ...
admittedly my tastes for fruit are mostly for temperate fruits , apples , peaches , nectarines , plums ,, etc etc

pretty happy to see you able to grow cannabis in the open now man ,
that really must feel good , they look very happy too ,
as im sure you are every time you go past them ....

Two homes or just one @1,000m on Maui would suffice :)

Selecting out the tall ones today for the one flower room with the 11’ ceilings, probably already binned 50-60 plants, many more to go… Only the best each time move on, well normally that’s the deal

Indeed 1Kw DE’s are amazing if ya got the ceiling space!

Ps is that a lil aero cloner on the right with the more mature (flowering) cuttings?
I’ve got nearly 9’ basement as couple extra blocks were added so it’s a huge luxury to have indeed

That’s Some cheap cloner from Amazon IIRC… I normally take cuts end flower when I know a lot more vs taking them early on indiscriminately eating up space & driving up numbers…

Those particular cuts were taken early flower from outdoor plants I’m impressed by and or BF they freeze up due time year

looks like a busy little area man , some good things are bound to come from there no doubt ..

im just about the same as Maui @ 1000 metres , but a little closer to the equator and im on a granite ridge @ 925 metres .
,
we can grow stone fruits , just not the same as the temperate places can ,
benefits from both places , i just dont really like the cold weather though in the temperate parts ,
requires wearing too many clothes , hahaha ... ,
heres a jacaranda in full flower , she not long started , its a buzz with bees too , you can hear this tree for a distance ,, lol .
