We have a bunch of folks in our past political arena who made -very- questionable choices re. play-mates, almost always involving betterment of our markets and corporate access to resources.
People like Kissinger, who have been wanted for questioning re. various criminal investigations abroad, were involved in our bromances with folks like Pinochet, and before him, the Samosas, Baby Doc, The Shaw, Noriega, and even Saddam, who spent part of the 1950s as a CIA errand boy.
Our partnering up to folks with negative karma points is nothing new at all.
Corporatism has reigned supreme, even before most folks knew we were tilting directly toward being a candy-coated fascism at home, and a blatant fascism-supporting force abroad.
Money (and strategic access) talks, and BS walks.
An interesting and comical part of this is that many of the players in our Homeland's history portray themselves as being of the Christian faith, yet don't seem to give a rat's butt about the karmic implications of their International or national actions.
