Howdy fellows:joint: This is my first mushroom grow in progress and i thought some people here at IC might be interested in seeing this. I studied on shroomery.com for over 2 years before I could start my grow due to many reasons. Everything I have learned has been picked up from the Trusted Cultivators at the shroomery and I have never had a question that I couldnt find anserwed with the search button. Anyways on to the exciting part. :jump:

With my ms syringe I created a liquid culture and then knocked up 12 quart jars of WBS. I then spawned to 4, 66qt monotubs. Subtrate is coir/coffee/verm/gympson.

After about 4 days: Here is my Liquid Culture (Lc)

I Knocked up 12 quart jars and 10 days later:


I then mixed my substrate and spawn together in the tubs and a few days later they are ready for fruiting:)



The tubs were introduced to fruting conditons today!!

You will see I already have 12 more completly colonized quarts jars ready for use, and 12 more that recived a G2G transerfer yesterday.

I am hoping for 5+ ounces in 2 flushes from each tub for now, intill I can clone on agar and isolate a strain. Then I am hoping for 10+.

I am thinking of making a Tek here on IC of the way I do monotubs. If anyone is interested let me know. I will be updating this thread in a few days with some porn:muahaha:

10 ounces plus for each bin is alittle excessive even with a good isolate... But It def can be done... I would say 8 ounces each tub with a good isolate would be a better estimate tho...

Agreed. 10+ is excessive but for sure in the realm of possibilities with a very nice isolate. I really dont even want that much after thinking about it haha harvesting drying and storing would be a bitch. After I was done isolating the PE i was thinking of picking up some Pink Buffalo from Ralphs or maybe the golden teachers. Any opinions/experiences with those strains?

In my opinion besides PE an the Albino strains all Cubes are the same... All Cubes are Cubes... There may be some slight variations but other then that... I just think they are all the same..

Yeah most are the same, i pick on the looks and cool sounding strains really. The albino PE is one i still want to try tho it looks badass. Anyways the tubs are doing good, they are on the 2nd day of fruiting and no signs yet...

But i do have some jars to show yall that I did a G2G transfer with 3 days ago:

They look good... Some nice Rhyzos in there... The one trait that I always encourage people to try and isolate is solid stems... Usually PE has solid thick meaty stems... They really pack on weight to your flush... Albino PE is a bad strain... The genetics are alittle whacky from what I have heard... But just like anything else if you get a good isolate... Then that's all she wrote haha! Anyway goodluck with your bin, hope to see some fruits soon!!

good stuff.. never heard of making a liquid culture with the syringes first.. what are the benefits?

liquid cultures are sweet because with one syringe you can make a liquid culture that can knock up a lot more jars than just that one syringe could. another is that the spores start growing into mycelium in the LC so once you inoculate the jars there's no waiting for that...just starts growing

Yea but with liquid culture it's hard to tell if it's contaminated... Usually you don't find out until you innoculate grains with it and wait... In my opinion liquid culture is an inferrior method... Agar and petree dishes are the best method in my opinion...

Yes they can be almost impossible to see contams in but if done properly then you should have no worry's :) I wont be using lc much anymore tho. After loving my first G2Gs so much I will probably just stay with that. Butthey are a good way to store some myc in the fridge for a rainy day/friend.

Since i started i have made 6 lcs and 36 quart jars using inoculation and G2Gs, and have yet to see a single contam. As long as you are sterile and thorough with your procudures you will have no probs!:joint:

Well 4th morning of fruiting and here are some updated pics:

I also shook up my WBS jars today so I will snap some pics of those tomorrow. Pray for pins!!!:joint:

That 2nd pic is awesome... Don't get worried if they take a long time to pin... PE has a slower cycle then most other Cubes... It can sometimes take almost 2 weeks to see pins with PE... Just keep an eye out for contams...

Yeah that is what i have read. I really hope it goes a little faster than that, but oh well, we will see
