I've been picking through a lot of bud rot on my SDOGs.
I'm at the point to where even the "good" buds are starting to smell & taste funny...
(I'm hoping it's just the "Diesel"...)
Any pointers on avoiding mold / bud rot in the future???
==================================
All my cuts are rooting. (although, none rooted from F13...yet...)
At this point, I'm just trying to keep up!
I just keep feedin them into veg.
I figure I'll go with smaller plants (but, more of 'em)
Therefore, smaller colas.
Maybe that'll decrease the chances for mold?
yea...keep a eye on the yellowing leaves....when the yellow passes the inner circle of the bud and toutches our presious caly's i would remove it or cut the plant.....its mostly tru decaying or rotting leaves that i get mold.....i've seen many people onhere that don't check up on that....
ohw yea and keeping PH between 30-50...and have aircirculation..no matter how big the setup is
I've noticed that most/all of my rot seems to with the large calxes on the stalk, at the base of the buds??? These seem to have died, then rotted, then spread...
yuk...
Yeah, gonna give another look at the circulaton & ventilation...
I'm guessing you mean RH of 30-50?
I had to consider for a bit what kind of pH meter you might have...
========
What do you (anyone) think of the theory that low fert levels can create a fungus friendly situation???
ohw and i never go higher then 800 PPM of full feeding.....most plant just don't need that ime....i use cannazyme to stimulate bacterial growth.....i realy can't answer the q....but it sounds logical.....
The only time I had rot was from high humidity. I have seen other people having problems with the dying leaves as well. Do you know what your RH was? You can use the rotted bud to make bubble hash if you want. I have done it and it turned out fantastic.
Yeah, I'm in the swamp. (Where's the "hillbilly smilie")
My cheapo spring dial type rh meter usually sits between 40%-60%.
But, sometimes it gets a bit moist around here, I suppose...
That's good news about making bubble with the moldy buds.
Convienently, bubble making is on the To Do list!
I already have the ice maker working on an extra couple of loads...:wink:
Wow, great luck on the females. How is the variation between them? You really can't go wrong with any of the pheno's but I prefer the hazy ones for personal. I'll be watching for sure as I have a pack that I haven't opened yet.
At this point, it looks like I've got two that might be looong flowering ones. "C" & "E". These stretched a lot at first. I topped them a couple of weeks into flower and they've taken a long time to recover.
"E" has the most trichs of all of the girls, at this point...and wider, more indica looking leaves too...
Niether of these have very much "bud"...
The other 4 havent stretched as much and have filled out A LOT more!
Of those 4,
"A" & "D" are very similar. Satty buds and leaves.
"F" is a little different...Satty buds. But wider, more indica style leaves...
"B" seems a little more indica in bud and leaf structure. It has the least odor & trichs...so far...
That just off the top of my head.
I'll have to work on a more detailed version...
(I'm interested in how the clones may differ from the seedplants...)
