Peat's Place

Peat

Welcome friends! :smoker:

Lil' background on my method:

I clone in Jiffy peat pellets
& sow seeds directly in the soil.

I grow in soil (LC Mix #2)
with PBP & LK nutes.

I veg under 430WHPS
& flower under 1 kWHPS.

=====================
My harvest tech:
I manicure at all stages.

At chop. the big fan leaves come off. And, the whole plant hangs on a line.

A few days later, I'll break down the plant into it's main branches...This is when I get the secondary fan leaves. (Anything w/ no visible trichs.)

After a few more days, or so, I'll break down a lttle more and put them into paper grocery bags. Then I hang the bags on the line.

When they are dry enough (I like 'em a bit BEFORE they "snap" )(But, that can be "mold risky"), I put them into jars. At this time, I'll take off all the interior fans.
But I don't go too deep here.
I leave all the frosty bud leaves intact to cure wth the buds.

I separate the frosty trim when I'm rolling a joint, &/or packing a bowl, etc... :joint:

I have a 1 gal ziplock bag that all my frosty trim goes into.
:listen2: (I keep it at room temp)
When that gets full, I make bubble hash. :yummy:

Last project for 2008

BOG Sour Bubble bx3 - Female
Way back, before BOG left, I got a pack of SB bx3 from Gypsy. 10 seeds.
Over the years, only 1 never came up. 8 have been male.

It's taken this long, but I got a girl!

Here's #9:

DJS Grape Krush - Male
This fellow was just lingering around from my last grow.
I figure I'll let him hang out for a while...

They seem to make a nice couple...

Grape Krush Pollen (w/ my paint brush.)
(I have a REAL DIFFICULT time staying in the lines!!!)

===================================
Controlled Pollen Collection and Application

When first beginning to flower, I pick off the male flowers as they develop.
When more ripe male flowers appear than can be easily controlled (Usually around 2 - 3 wks 12/12), ...

The most-flowered limb tip is selected.
All the remaining flowering clusters on the plant are removed.
At the limb tip, large leaves are removed to minimize condensation inside the enclosure, & to make the fit easier.

I use a DIY "pollination enclosure" made from masking tape & lightwieght packing paper.

Then, slip the pollination enclosureover the limb tip and tape it shut.

Check for any shoots where flowers might develop outside the enclosure. (Check for leaks / loose tape)

Place the male in a corner of the flower cab ...

After a week or so after bagging, the limb (with it’s bag attached) is cut.

In another room, tap the pollen away from the mouth of the bag. Allow pollen to settle.
Open the bag, taking care not to release any pollen.

Lightly paint a few bottom buds...A little pollen goes a VERY long way!!!

It only takes a few minutes for the pollen to "take". Then it's all over, but the waiting.

The ladies are showered with plain water to kill off any stray pollen, before putting them back in with the other girls. ...don't want any accidental pregos...

Very nice sir, love the grape krush. Wish I had the opportunity to smoke blueberry in the past, somehow it's one of the greats that has slipped through my fingers.

Great happy looking plants and some sticky smoke to boot!

Nice Job,

Bluesboy

Hey KJ,
Thanks for stopping by!

I know what you mean man! :headbange

------------------------------------------------
So many strains. So little time... :joint:

On Dec 26, I soaked 3 MNS-SSH seeds for 24 hrs.
The next day, I watered them into qts pots.
Then, placed them on a heat mat set to 78F.

:drum:

About 6 days later, I planted four F-13 x F-13
and
4 more of the SSH.

:joint:

The very next day, one of the first 3 SSH sprouted.
A couple of days later, another.
And, now today, the third has sprouted.

JLP's SDOG f2's

They are light enough to drag out for pics, but they'll be much happier after a good drink. :D

SSH - C
This one had a hard time standing up.

You see how the neck is bent at a sharp angle?
I wish that I had an earlier pic. But, that long cotyledon had a hard time emerging from the soil and it tweaked it's neck a bit.
When I saw this, I delicately dug out the coty with a toothpick and snapped this pic.

And now that it has come along a bit, I see it is a mutant. :alien:

Also, thanks to a very generous member,
I also have a couple of
F-13 x F-13
