I'm 50+ & yes it was cocaine & freebase (I didnt buy other peoples crack I cooked my own & knew what was in it) which I snorted/smoked for 8.5 yrs.

If you & I were the next Simon & Garfunkel (I love saying Garfunkel!) & we knew it in advance by our sheer brilliance on stage, our unique sound, a good presence, and so on then WE go in with the power to dictate #s... $$$$s in a contract.

Here's the tragedy for the artists. I think that the days are coming where there will be no buyers of CDs (or whatever the current media is at the time) because generation X raised on music piracy being OK & they in turn will teach THAT same principal to their kids (cuz they ain't NEVER buy it at TOMORROWS prices...lol) because that thievery is so deeply set in, they think it's their right. I have a feeling that the day is coming soon where the 'Music Police' on the net are really gonna have their turn, everybody up & down loading leave 'footprints' to follow too....... don't be surprised that it'll come w/o warning enmass, thousands pinched (no! not arrested at your door) at once in a sweep, then thousands more the next day. Notices of civil actions with fines in the thousands of $$,$$$.00s, most will ignore them, a single lawyer will show up for trial(s) in each jurisdiction to meet anyone who shows in court. whoever doesn't show will have a huge judgement levied against them for failure to show, once a judgement is levied in court it NEVER goes away. it will need to be payed off before a bankrupcy as well....... if someone wants a car loan, home loan, credit card even.
because w/o doing this the record industry will die, they'll be pushed one way or another to defeat piracy or the losses that they incur.

This wouldn't be so bad if it were anything but music. The bad thing here is that EVERYONE in the world likes/loves music & every bit of it is available online (illegally) to burn via P2P sites and the such. What I mean to say here is that if it were astronomic info that was being pilfered we'd only have a few thousand interested parties to begin with (not tens of millions) and a few pissed off scientists bytching about it. But everyone loves a tune & what's better than getting it for free, right?

No arguing & glad you are on topic. I think that stealing music is wrong.

Here's a thought & of course my opinion.......

I've read through everyones reason(s) for stealing music, most are saying they don't wanna line the pockets of the thieving recording execs. Some however bring up this EXCELLENT point. Some say that they only like one or two cuts from an album & so they won't buy it. I AGREE a band like NineInchNails or KMK couldn't begin to fill an album with 80 minutes of quality music, it just ain't in 'em. I wouldn't buy that crap either. There are too many 'flash in the pan' (quick burnouts) type of bands with only one or two good cuts, folks feel compelled to steal the songs they like because neither they nor I would part with the better part of $20 for that shit.

Now that being said I AM NOT condoning it because I understand it.
