Just a note: I'm now discovering that this is clearly the ideal ("locked in") approach to micro vertical. Basically it involves pushing the branches as far out as possible within the pot to maximize radius, and to keep the light height/plant height in an ideal balance. It allows for maximum light coverage across all plants.
If we look at one of many light distance charts, we'll see the optimal distance from bulb for a 250W HPS is approximately 9 inches from the bulb. In my cab, the outer walls are approximately 7-10 inches from the bulb at any time (including the corners), so I'm wasting output no matter you cut it.
The further back I can keep these plants the better. As I mentioned, 4 big plants seems to be ideal over several smaller plants. Hopefully when I incorporate long-flowering sativa's into this cab the theory will hold.
