Malawi commercial yielder

oregon

New member
I just finished Malawi indoors in a 53 gallon Rubbermaid container grown scrog style. Lumitec !000w on superburn, eye hortilux bulb. Yield just under 2 grams a watt! 60 ounces! I love long season Sativa's but have always had to sacrifice yield well not any more thank you Ace. The first time i grew Malawi
It was a vertical grow and yield was 22 ounces in a 20 gallon container grown with magnetic ballast and a eye hortilux bulb. I am a strain whore but Malawi will always have a spot in my garden.

Smoke report: Malawi high is clear headed and energetic. I like waking up to a bowl of Malawi its like drinking a pot of coffee without the jitters.

Potency: on a 1-10 scale its an 11 most potent smoke I have had! Matanuska thunderfuck was close in potency but will put you to sleep. I called Matanuska party killer weed lol

Taste: Spicey a hint of pine. I just pollinated agent orange with a male Malawi stud I am calling the cross Morenge.

I dont understand why Malawi is listed as a medium high yielder? IMO yield should be listed as extremely high- commercial.

Welcome oregon,

Thanks for the positive feedback, im glad malawi is working fine in your setup and that you are finding very high yielding and powerful expressions, it's indeed overpowering sativa, especially if you select a bit but the average potency, vigor and yield of the seed line is real outstanding. Happy she has a place now in your garden, enjoy! ;)

I've noticed a lot of Ace's descriptions tend to be a bit understated which is refreshing in a world full of hype and bullshit. For instance I grew out some Orient Express over the winter. It was a single female chosen at pre-flower from a half pack of her sister's and brothers so there was very little selection work done and she produced over 5 ounces with one month of veg under a single 600w light in about 2 1/2 gallons of soil and no training, plus I abused the plant with my newbie growing skills and some poorly chosen soil.

By far it is the best producing plant I have ever seen yet you don't see Ace describing it as some sort of super cropping commercial beast. Under the strain description it just describes the yields as "high" and that's it.

In comparison I have seen a quite a few extremely hyped commercial strains from other breeders which paled in comparison yet if you read the breeder descriptions they sound like they should have all been holy grail plants. A friend of mine who is a long time grower laughed when I told him how big the cola was on the OE until I showed him it. He was quite the elite clone snob until I showed him what I got from a handful of Ace seeds.

My Humbl experience is that Ace is one of the most understated. The gear performs. No need to Cal/Mag your way to glory. Just pony up for a decent size pot filled with good organic soil. Plant an Ace seed or two, water under decent light, love, yield, enjoy. Quie simple, actually.

Oh, I don't think Ace is underestimated.

People who like landraces often say, you should try ACE.

In many forums, someone from time to time says, oh, but ACE...

I think Ace has a good reputation and good word goes around.
I personall have been astonished, how often ACE has been mentioned...
Not be cause they are no good, but because they keep low profile, and people still seem to know about them.

To me, Ace is quality, something I never have to be dissapointed. No matter what I buy...
It's always a seed that has been complished, balanced and gives you a satisfaction.
If you know how to grow...
956% of failures are due to grower ;)

Mandala is a second one...
Maybe there is some other good seedbanks too, but these two I recommend..at the moment.

And P.S I would love to see ACE doing some more landraces....I got some Colombian black from WOS sometime ago, and they had plenty of landraces.Didn't take too many and now I regret, because those are not available anymore, Cannabiogen doesn't have Oaxaca anymore...and so one...
They are dissapearing...

The only place I have seen with Oaxacan at the moment is Sativa Seeds but I haven't heard much about this breeder so I can't vouch for the genetics. I've been patiently waiting for Mextiza to restock at cbg but I haven't heard any news about it recently.

Yeah The Hatter, I'm waiting patiently for CBG and Ace to take on some more landraces, even I know it takes much work..but I know thwy have the interest too. ;=)
Must check that sativa seeds too

I think this is a perfect example when quality of the genetics speak for it self and there is no need in advertisement like many other seedbanks do. ;)

So wait..... People really get a dry 4 lbs out of 1k? I feel cheated and like i hate myself. If those yields are accurate, this truly a feat. Seriously something to be proud of. Pics please!!

I always love the facial expression of indica growers when you show them a proper grown landrace Sativa...It´s not impossible to pull that much weight; if all my plants yielded like my Golden Tiger did, I would have pulled 1.8 g/watt...

Nice report, Oregon!

Peace
Ace

Some people seem to be missing the point that it is long flowering sativa's that are being discussed here. 1 gpw from a 8 week strain is comparable to 2 gpw from a 14 week strain. Either way if you are achieving this you are winning.

It is a very high yield but I think it might be possible depending on the circumstances, particularly if it is wet weight rather than dry and the plants were vegged for a long period of time. If I measured my yield wet I bet it would have been about twice as heavy as it was dry, if not more.

Think about the yields that can come off a single outdoor plant with a long season. You can get plants that are literally the size of trees producing pounds of bud each. The sun is obviously a superior light source but at the same time one of the biggest advantages the outdoor plants have is simply that they grew over the course of about 8 or 9 months rather than 3 or 4. With enough space and patience you can let a plant veg and fill a giant screen over the course of several months and flower it.

-Shrug- It's good to remain skeptical but at the same time I try not to dismiss something without evidence to the contrary. He really didn't give enough details to dismiss the results. I would be pretty skeptical if it was dry weight with a short veg but for all we know he let the plants veg half a year.

If thats wet weight i couldnt care less. He said 2.0 gpw. That has to mean dry weight. Hes a new poster, he has no photos and ive never heard of such a high yield so it makes me skeptical. I just wanna see a light packed with such huge buds it has to be almost 4 lbs. ive seen lights packed with almost 3 and fitting more in there seems impossible. Sativa or not. 14 weeks or 20 weeks. 4lbs a light is incredible or false.
