Making bubble with snow

G

Guest3498

I just did this for the second time tonight and thought I'd share. Was taught this trick by a buddy and have found it to work quite well. The idea is simple: use snow in the place of ice in the bubble making process. The snow is much more abrasive than the ice, but doesn't beat the trim up badly at all. This results in nice returns of super melty hash.

Layer the buckets as normal, except with some nice powder. Let them sit outside for a few hours for good measure. The colder the better! I use fresh frozen trim.

I gave the slush a stir for a good 15-20 minutes per bucket. A bit more than I normally would with ice. I only handmix.

Generally when you pull the 220 bag you are left with a bit of ice. Be sure that it's entirely melted for the 2nd wash as there are plenty of trichs trapped inside.

The finished product:

Once dry it smokes quite nicely

Here's what I made tonight... 73 on left and 25 on right...

.....i second that grey :)

I used to ride snowmobiles all the time when i lived in iceland.... and although we didnt grow or make ice with snow we smoked gravity bongs all the time using the snow insted of water to make the vacum. Great cool smooth smoke..... made me drive like granny though ;-)

But the snow bubblehash i have made from time to time and it´s genius..... just dont fill the bucket with too much snow as it will form hard packed snow balls in the bucket which logges the chrystals in the snow and they wont be floting in the water!!

cool thread dude

Snow Bubble, thats what we call it.

Nice pictoral VADO :smoke:

Did this last winter and winter before, works very well. Best with nice powdery stuff.

This winter haven't had much snow and what we did get was a wet, heavy packed mess.

Will have to try leaving the buckets in the snow, next chance I get to try it.

Think my first batch with my current bags was of snow bubble.

Hey thanks for the kid words shred and grey wolf. Amber, I definitely have noticed it's better with the powder. Good call.

Ameriskunk, thanks for the tip, that's genius!

Ice toker, I actually just bought my first snow mobile a few weeks ago. Got a 750, definitely shouldn't have :biglaugh: The thing is scary fast...

Very cool, this makes perfect sense but I would have never thought of it(probably due to my climate lol)

Thanks!

yes snow is good... I go to stores to buy pounds of ice.... and they look at me like I'm crazy in the middle of winter... I would use snow, never did, if it was clean and easy to get too... AVOID the yellow one ;)

thanks again for the idea vado! ran a batch sun. i agree with powder snow being the better option. had some wet stuff and it def clumped up a bit. no worries though. everything came out fire! should be able to one more run before the thaw.

Thanks, Vado. I'd been wondering myself if this was possible. Seems now that we have gone through a freeze/thaw for a week or so that this might not work so well without the freshies. Might hold out for the next storm and then give it a try with the fresh.

Thanks everyone.

sexybudandnugs, I've been that guy before plenty of times. :biglaugh:

Glad it worked out good for you mr headie. Definitely a good way to pass some time during a snow storm...

Hey dude, the snow worked, wonders. Pushing over a zip on 2lbs trim, my best effort yet, but I think we can do better. There's a happy medium you have to find with the snow though, you don't want too much as the trichs tend to get hung up and not fall down it seems. At the same time, it's abrasive, more so than straight ice, which I think is one of the reasons it works so well. It's free too.

Great job man. I tried it with snow before, but I think I used too much because it turned out bad.
