PURPOSE:
Going on 4 years of unvarying results, I'm completely sold on Karma because it always outperforms the entire garden. I intend to share this year's results so others can see how superb this gear really is.
THE GEAR:
Going on close to 40 beans popped, 20 are between 3-5 weeks old and the rest are younger. Some of these beans: Happy Brother bx2, Original Amnesia, 4-5 Himalayan Blue Diesel, Chocolate Chunk, 4-5 Black Domina x Matanuska Mint, Connie Chung, NYCD, and a few I cannot recall right now.
The remaining younger beans: 2 Headbanger, 2 Sour Jack, 6-7 Cheese variations, Critical +, SAGE, several more Black Domina crosses with Sweet Tooth and NYCD (untested s1s), and I cannot remember the rest right now. Had a Biker that was eaten by grasshoppers only days ago.
It goes without saying which gear is looking strongest at this point:
Happy Brother bx2 at 5 weeks:
Chocolate Chunk at 5 weeks:
Himalayan Blue Diesel at 5 weeks (got butchered, out of my hands):
Sleeskunk at 3.5 weeks
Kaliman Cheese (came in Quatro Pack so I have no clue which it is. 16 beans of 4 strains came all mixed together....complete waste of $ in my opinion.) at 3.5 weeks:
STATING THE OBVIOUS:EVERY girl in the garden has had some type of issue. From over-feeding/water, to bugs/grasshoppers, etc etc....
All of the ladies are being fed the same, etc.... just a regular organic mix with watering as needed. Conditions are not ideal and this is where Karma Genetics really shines. The vigor of these plants always stuns me. The Happy Brother bx2 is obviously doing the best so far.
TRAINING: The only intentional training will be LST. Some things will work against my intentions as I cannot control what this guy (and his wife) does at his house. =[ My part is simply to give advice and correct problems if they get too bad. Just trying to teach the basics to an oldhead that needs help and never ran anything aside from bag.
DISCLAIMER:
I do not brew in-home nor will not for an unknown amount of time. I only get to see these girls once a week (on average) and might not update regularly. At any given time, I wouldn't be surprised if any of the girls disappeared for any reason. Daily care is far beyond my control and bittersweet when I'm only able to coach these along. Both of the baby SourJacks might not even be SJs. Buddy mixed them up and only guessed at which were SJs when planting. The Biker that was eaten by grasshoppers devastated me. We've lost another 7-10 great beans due to lack of knowledge and various frustrating happenings (again, all out of my control)....
As soon as the SJs come up, I'll recognize the vigor as being Karma gear or not. I'm really hoping to find a strong daddy but the only two I've found so far have not been Karma beans and have been less than desirable.
I'll try to get a photo lineup of all the girls sometime next weekend. The girls selected to veg longer are shown above. A rabbit topped a few Black Domina crosses as well as the Amnesia, all of which are already in the ground. The rabbit's work looks nice and the girls have all just started flowering/recovering from rabbit-attack. =]
Anyone please feel free to comment.
