Is eating meat like playing russian roulette

What I mean by russian roulette is are we taking chances when we eat something with hormones mainly meat, chicken or anything thats filled with something that promotes growth. Cancer is a growth, some people get it some people dont but no one knows who thats going to be. If you have that cell or gene in your body (not knowing) and all it needs is a catalyst well this hormone filled meat seems to be perfect.

However if you do eat meat then I would say that feeding, raising and killing the animal in a humane way would be the safest. You will know what your eating. imo. Even though things say organic its just questionable when it comes to those types of things how organic it is. We would be the only ones that could verify that by growing the animals ourselves. These are chances that are scary to take when you dont know if tha meat is going to set something off in your body. The meat industry is out of control and they dont care about whats in tha meat or whos eating it. Just look at what tha meat industry is doing to tha planet, mass destruction for profits, a feeding frenzy for big meat corps and voracious consumers.

A quote (cant remember who wrote it) "Eat to live dont live to eat" which should be true to us all.

Eating seafood caught by the eater would seem to be tha better of tha meat choices however the oceans dont have much left in them and when tha sharks are looking for food near tha shore then It would seem this be true. And beware genetically altered salmon are about to be a possibility, they are bigger and younger due to some altering and this will be for sale soon if FDA approved. Scary

We need a place to grow pot. If we all do a lil something everyday to help the planet and our body/mind it will come back to us through harvest or something else good. Out of site out of mind, when we dont see the effects that things are causing it doesnt seem to affect us unless we give it some thought or its already set in and is effecting us to make us think and usually its too late when that happens.

If I had a farm, I would totally raise my own livestock for consumption. Ok, come to think of it...I couldn't kill an animal....so I will have to continue buying my meat at a supermarket.

Sucks.

Check around, you might find a small farm that raises livestock, and you can contract for a beef cow, or a hog, half of one, whatever. I used to kill several deer every year for my red meat supply, but anymore I don't like to and don't kill mammals. Wild turkey, geese, ducks, doves, quail, I'll take though, no problem. And fish, lots of fish I catch myself.

The good news is that animal meat doesn't provide any necessary nutrients that you can't get from other sources.

This thread is gonna turn into a giant shitstorm very very soon....folks don't like their meat eating being criticized.

As fer nutrients, sac beh, you have to make sure to look after yer B12 intake...that a hard one to find in veggies etc. Wheatgrass, miso, nutritional yeast and a few others are good non-meat B12 sources.

Well, folks never like it when the facts are not in agreement with their lifestyles and beliefs. By the way, I eat meat sometimes, and I don't like criticizing people who do. But I do like to make sure everyone has their facts straight..

And I'm one of the rare ones who tries to avoid meat not just for the health concerns but out of concern for animals, which is usually the most offensive argument for people.

Buy from an organic cattle farmer if you can. Here it's not hard to find a farm where you can buy 1/4 to a whole cow at a time. Trust me, these animals have it waaaay better than cows on big cattle farms. They graze freely and have the life an animal should have until it's slaughtered for us. Very humane way of eating if you ask me. You can buy pigs here just the same as cows. Actually, a lot of people in rural Michigan do this....I have an Aunt who raises organic beef. Those cows are so well taken care of, naturally.

I'm a meat eater..never wanted to eat just rabbit food. Grew up on wild game,so that in itself is healthier than hormone fed meats. Everyone has their preferences and I never had a problem with vegetarians..it just means more meat for me. Tc everyone

Sometime in the late 80's my dad noticed that the store bought beef he was getting started to get worse and worse, ever since then he raises a cow each summer that we split at harvest time. I am so spoiled with my beef consumption that I cant order steak at a restaurant because I know its not going to be as good as mine at home straight off the BBQ.

this is not directed at you genk. just using your post :D this is the problem no one should be criticized for eating meat. I do not eat meat very often but I would never criticize anyone who eats it everyday and it is not my job or any one elses(here) to keep people informed... unless they ask. keep our hands in your own vehicle and don't stick your arms out to point at others and you will have a much smoother ride. live and let live!

When I was a kid we lived out west and raised cattle. We had a deal with a guy that used to buy calves cheap and then get us to raise them for him.Well he bought the cheapest ones he could find so some died. When they died we would call him and he would come get them.We found out he was taking them to a huge pig farm, boil them, and then feed them to the pigs.Sometimes he didnt come get them for a few days and sometimes they died of disease..so to me thats pretty nasty.Guess that is common practice at the bigger hog farms.

Is eating meat like playing russian roulette?

Eating any factory farmed food is playing russian roulette, as is drinking most water, or breathing in urban areas.
