Cassius Clay aka Muhammad Ali will always be a legend in my books.

Can anyone remember the fight between Ali & a world champion pro wrester, (fight was in Japan back in mid 70's)? It was a real pity cause Ali only hit the guy a cpl times,,, from then on the wrestler stayed on the canvas kicking the shit out of Ali's legs (I can remember Ali's bleeding calves). From memory I think it was a draw?

edit: just did a quick google. That wrestler's name was Antonio Inoki that trained in jiu jitsu,,,, during the fight Ali's only defense was to kick him while on the canvas.

mike tyson in my opinion was the best boxer in the world....and most likely no one will ever be as bad as he was

I am talking about when he was young and in top shape...before his marriage to that bitch....and all the bullshit that happened after

if you take any other boxer....any....at the top of their career and put them against Mike Tyson when he was at his best....there will be no chance for anyone

just go and watch videos on youtube.....they are all there

the motherfu..er was like a pitbull weighing 200 pounds...for real folks.....he was the perfect killing machine.....came out and fuc...ed people up royally...period

what a shame he didnt have the brains to go at least 5 more years....imagine how many hammering knocks out we would have enjoyed....only *if*......what a big word *if* is

boxing dead and killed by the UFC? LOL! Come talk to me when Chuck Liddel starts making $20 million a fight.

The Margarito-Cotto fight was UNBELIEVABLE! The way Cotto was pounding on Margarito, I thought there was absolutley no way Marg could make it through the fight. Cotto threw everything he had at him and everything he threw landed with extreme authority. Margarito is just unhuman.

I liken the fight to the episode of The Simpsons when Homer becomes a boxer and fights various hobos & scamps. Just like the hobos, Cotto became disillusioned that this...thing in front of him would simply not go down and out of exhaustion he, Cotto, could no longer fight. No mas.

The MMA Shows didn't kill boxing, it's just evolution, Boxing will fade out slowly. As said in Gladiator, "give the mob what they want, entertain them with spectals, they will love you for it". There are a ton of movies that always take man vs. man to the extreme level. There's some new movie coming out call Death Race, you'll see the commericial, Running Man, The Condemed, the list is endless. In general people want to SEE someone fighting at some level. If someone died in on a broadcasted fight, the rating would tripple the following week after all, that is what put NASCAR in the spotlight and look at what that's become. Most fans say, they watch for the accidents. The simple fact is, we all want to SEE death because we fear the unknown. Boxing is old, we've all seen it since birth and it's gotten boring compared to MMA Fighting, it's a step closer to fighting for your life and for some reason we find it entertaining...at least that's what I beleive it be.

I'm a hugh MMA fan, I saw UFC 1 -6 when they aired them live, I've followed it ever since.

Corruption, politics, the silly money involved, too many micky mouse organisations, lack of decent heavy weight scene etc are all killing boxing!!!

UFC (Dana White) has just capitilised on this current situation and rather well at that!!!

Anybody who thinks boxing is dead simply has not seen Manny Pacquiao. The filipino is possibly the most unique and important fighter since the Brown Bomber. People who talk about his hand speed are looking in the wrong place, watch his feet!

Boxing is a shell of what it once was but I don't think it's entirely because of MMA.. What killed boxing in my eyes is lack of a compettetive Heavyweight Division... People wanna see the big boys throw down and it hasen't been happening.. The last really huge heavyweight fight was Lweis/ Tyson... Mabye the Lewis/ Klitchko fight... There are no good heavyweights.. Middleweight and all the similar divisions and light heavyweight have all been booming tho... These guys still get huge money and generate a ton of money... The problem with UFC is that anybody can beat anybody at any time really... When a guy is ontop he is only ontop for a short while maybe a few fights.. They fight often and then it's the next guys turn... In boxing the crowds come to see the fighter.. In UFC the crowds come to see the event... This has been a huge sucess for UFC.. In boxing oncy certain fighters generate the big money... In UFC they have new goofball fighters every event and nobody cares because it's a good show..

UFC top fighters will never ever generate the money that top boxers do.. That is the reason that boxing is faultering.. Unlike UFC a bad boxing bout is not fun to watch... In UFC if fighters are on the ground to long they break it up and force them to duke it out more.. Fights also end quick in UFC there are more knockouts, and submissions are a great crowd pleaser... UFC does not need top fighters to sustain it's organization... Most of there fighters are average.. Some are very good, but they could have a locker room full of bums and people will still pay to see the combat... Amatuer MMA bouts are a much bigger deal then amatuer boxing bouts.. So to the UFC fighters this is a bad thing... Because UFC does not need good fighters to sell a show, Therefore the fighters have no means to bargain... Boxing on the other hand does.. So a boxer has more leverage because the people are there to see them.. This is the main reason why boxers get way more money...

UFC in my opinion is just a good show.. I do not think I am watching the best talent in MMA but I do feel I am watching the best show in MMA... Another big reason for the sucess of UFC is because it appeals to a larger audience.. The fighters are mostly white, geeky, corny sounding, tatooed weirdos... Since America is pussified this appeals to all women, men, kids and celebs.. Boxing on the other hand is mostly filled with black, latino, chicano and some white men.. Usually they all had hard lives and continue to live a controversial lifestyle... This does not appeal much to a middle class white community.. Since American is mostly white middle class UFC has a huge advantage.. So in conclusion UFC to me is more of a show.. Boxing is more of a sport... Without good fighters boxing just can not sustain itself.. But UFC can sustain itself no matter what because of the style of combat..

Anderson Silva has already signed a deal to box Roy Jones Jr. after his contract is up in the UFC. Goes to show that the money is better in boxing. I however would rather watch MMA anyday.

Anderson has not signed any such deal. Both Anderson and RJJ have expressed alot of interest in this fight and I'm sure there has been alot of discussion about contracts but this bout has not been finalized and never will be until Anderson is free from the UFC. You're probably referring to a recent video with Anderson in which he stated something along the lines of contracts being signed but he later clarified that nothing could be finalized until his contract with the UFC is over, and as long as he's a champion for the promotion, he won't be fighting elsewhere.

Personally I'd love to see the fight right now but I also don't want to see Anderson leave MMA. It's really too bad that Dana can't allow this one off fight but it's just way too risky to let his most dominant champion possibly lose outside of the UFC, although if he won it would be big for the sport. If both were in their primes it would be a rediculous fight to even think about because the fight would only last until Roy decided it was time to end but today Anderson might be able to give him a good fight and possibly even win. It's hard to tell. Hopefully it plays out someday sooner than later.

I love MMA/UFC. Anyone who fights will tell you its bad feeling being choked out. I would rather be knocked the fuc* out than chocked any day but i know the average fan wants to see the teeth flying. Boxing turned to much into a running match recently.

i like both, and think both will stick around. i would watch more MMA than i do, but the ground game part is sheer boredom to me. if i'm going to watch two people rolling around on the floor, it better be a damn porn flick. :tiphat: there are no top-drawer heavyweights in boxing right now, which is why it is in decline at the moment. it is a shame that more boxing fans don't appreciate the lighter weight classes as much. i would have paid a buttload of money to see Marvelous Marvin Hagler fight folks in a 6 ft diameter ring so the damn babies could not run away from him & play pitty-pat Olympic scoring games. yeah, i'm talking about YOU, Sugar Ray Leonard... i enjoyed watching full-contact karate for years before MMA ever showed up.

It's funny going back and reading people's opinions on MMA in 2007/2008.

Boxing sucks because of the various promotion companies... The fights people want to see don't happen, or if they do its 5'years too late.
Ufc has an advantage in that they're a single promotion co.
They own their fighters and they fight who they're told to fight, when they're told to fight.
I gotta say allowing those usada assholes into the ufc hasn't helped anything.
I want to watch world class fighters on world class performance enhancing drugs.
If I wanted to watch normal guys fight I could go hang out downtown at the bus station.

Haymon's PBC nonsense is really hurting the sport. The multiple sanctioning bodies and excess weight classes are bad enough. However, boxing will never die. It goes through cycles of being terrible, but it will always hang on.
