Can we not have both ? , I'd say BHO over edibles maybe as edibles can be hard to judge next to each other in such a short time , plus some really good bho specialist in the game these days would be a shame to miss out trying some of the best in Europe/World

Do we want to divide the hash to dry sift and ice hash?

There is also space for destilates/pens. Not huge fan myself, but maybe you do have different opinions.

Happy to test any extracts and edibles myself, matter of planning. 4 days is tight schedule.

More when I think about that, why do we limit it to 4 days? Couldn't we split the categories to start judging couple days earlier?

Keep in mind, not everybody is „forced“ to judge all packs. Last year a lot of people more less took advantage by getting several packs as a cheap smoke for themselves. Won’t happen this year, since a lot of the persons didn’t even put in there votes, which was really unfair to all competitors who worked hard for winning the cup.

If we skip BHO , don’t make sense to add a vapepen/destillate category in that case.

I am personally more interested into solvents methods myself. Not sure how large impact we do have, but promoting ice hash or press flower/hash sounds better to me than BHO.

Giving more time for judging the edibles however makes sense to me, but that's just my point of view.

Just by curiosity, I checked the idea of measuring the terpens. Looks like we would need some lab running HPLC Chromatography tests. Portable HPLC machine costs thousands of Euros, not the budget yet : )

-from the offtopic of the other thread-

I see two main problems with Cannabis Cup's category:
If you classify a strain between two effects (mental/physical) you lose the entourage effect and the mixed effects like hilarious-couchlock.
On the other hand, if a strain is classified by a few aromatic families (e.g. citrus, earthy, floral, etc.) you lose the mixed nuances of modern polyhybrids.
And having a THC or tepene test might be helpful, but it would remain generic and inconclusive as much as judging a dish or wine by a lab test.

🍷
I went to a wine shop to ask how they order the wines for sale; here they are classified by "body", a set of characteristics such as density, color, aroma, and alcohol, that are often related to each other (from a light white sparkling to “liqueur” strong reds).
Is it possible to do the same with cannabis?

For example, if I describe to some friends the "body" of a strain such as "champagne" they immediately understand what I mean: light smoke (regardless of THC percentage), aromas from mild floral-citric to strong hops-gas, and rarely purple flowers. Tending to psychedelic-tachycardic effect.
(... where a Sherb-cross would probably be considered a good "red wine" and some Tangie-cross a "rosé wine")

But these terms probably don't make sense for the rest of the world 😄. Any ideas?

I get nerdy last evening. I like the classification these guys proposed

I messaged the company for the current records they managed to collect, but not sure it they are willing to share the knowledge tbh.

Still, that does require measuring of the terpens, which we probably will not have access this year. But It could be useful tool just for your curiosity, if expected aromas in the strain listed by breeder do match the lab results at all or are from another planet.

There is one project that collects some open results from the lab, you can use it here https://maxvalue.github.io/Terpene-...ed&lab=Miscellaneous&lab=PSI+Labs&lab=SC+Labs

I do have also couple of papers to read that focus of the problem with cannabis classification. I will update you guys if managed to find anything helpful for us.
