How to combat the heat when growing indoors?

@Dank - I wash them after every run. I've even bought new ones.

@Harry - Pro version. Humidity where it should be.

It's only been the last two that have performed really poor. Prior to these, they've run fine for 12-18 mths.

These came from a well know store. I guess they could have been part of a faulty batch or maybe got damp in storage?

i would take them back,if you have receipt ! they advertise them as lasting longer than a year.
i brought some auto pots from a grow shop a couple of years back, and when i got them home found some roots in the valves, not best happy about that ! i told them, and they tried to fob me off
when i said i had been talking to trading standards ,they gave me them for half price .winner ,winner, chicken dinner.:)

now i would sooner go to a large shop and pay a little extra for piece of mind!
good luck .ww

Just out of interest, those of you using Rhino's, how long are you finding them lasting effectively?

My last two had barely completed a run before I could detect a feint whiff.

Previous ones have lasted a couple of runs at least.

a pro really ought to give you 18 months piece of mind mate
its funny I've read lotsa folk saying they not that impressed by rhinos but i've never met someone with a bad word to say about em. Nearly everyone I know uses em with no complaints

I've only ever used Rhino Pro, up until now that is. I've bought Phresh ones as replacements to try out :) Never had any problems with my Rhino's though.

You can move all the air you want, if your ambient temps are high its gonna be hotter under the lights.

How do you wash the white fibre sleeve?

I wash mine in the washing machine, but put the sleeve in a pillow case else it will stretch.

I currently use inline phresh filters. Had it running constant for a good couple of years, no smell!

Ground Effects Cooling.

That's where you run pipes in the ground and blow air through them.

Air ends up nice & cool. Then goes to the inlet to your indoor grow.

Thanks guys!

6" Hyper Fan + 6" PRO 150x600 Rhino filter ordered already (250 quid... ouch)

About that SMS hybrid fan speed controller... it sounds very interesting... can I use it with my equipment? is it easy to set up/install?

yep if you run them a few feet underground for about 30 meters plus it might work lol.

Just plug the fans into it mount the unit and the sensor plug it in and done.

Sounds easy... thanks DD!

I will definitely do!

Also, for the A/C specialists in here, can I have your opinion on this device?

Cheers! :tiphat:

Used those portable units in the past and also almost Killed myself getting them up into the loft and they have all been SHITE!!! They chuck out warm smelly air and they do not last long on 24/7 before the compressor stops working. I would stay well clear IMHO. Split a/c units are better.

Do you have a recommendation on a brand? I've been looking at split system a/c units and there's massive differences in prices. I'd also like one that was DIY!

I believe you. But they are too pricy for me right now mate... in that case I'm gonna pass I think... will do a summer grow focusing on combat the heat; got a new powerful extraction & ventilation system, will use heat resistant/strong strains (at the end NL x BB/C99/Durban Poison/Hubble Bubble), will use well ventilated white pots, insulated soil, frequent cold showers, liquid ice (if necessary), watch for the room's temperature, and everything I can think of... there must a way to get some summer dankness without an A/C!! :shark:
Obviously every case is a different history, but this time I'm gonna try like this and see how it goes... if I see that it's still a problem then I will considerate it next summer!

theres quite a few growers in the usa who use portable air con units. the problem with the uk is that we have a pretty poor selection.
to the point where yes, its not Worthing buying them. id definitely advice a split system but there are good portable aircon out there. on the downside you need to spend a lot of money to get a good one here. id say £300 plus and you need one over 12,000btu or you might as well not bother. you must duct the hot air directly out of the room too (ideally with acoustic type insulated ducting.)

ive been through 4 portable units in the last month and each one has been the same btu rating, but none of them were the same in quality or performance. the one im sticking with is a sharp one. id much prefer a split but that's not practical right now.
