I final harvested yesterday. Did it over a week, as it is a lot of work, plus, pistils perked up after being mostly red and dead (weather warmed up > 10*s), so I let it go as long as I could considering the clones were outgrowing the clone tent. So yesterday was the day.
Since then, I have been busy making numerous adjustments in preparation for HPH 2.0.
I am using 2 of Melanie's clones, hoping better spectrum management will prevent them from becoming the canopy monster their mother was. She took up ~ 90% of the 2 x 4 tent. The 2 clones are bifurcated
So, for anyone who is interested, here is a breakdown with pictures
I use 2 different size Air Pots. The larger one is mostly needed as an anchor so the plant won't fall over, plus, it is necessary when using the 6" Hydro Halo rings.
I put down one layer of lava rock. I then cap with medium/large polished ornamental river rock to make a flat surface for the smaller AP.
I then insert the small 1 liter AP stuffed with the clone root ball. I center this inside the 4 liter AP, and then side fill with lava rock to stabilize.
What I wind up with is a fast draining pot + medium, but the lava rock on the bottom holds some moisture between feedings: the roots love it
Being fast draining, I super-feed every 45-60 minutes for ~ 27 seconds during lights on. This is ~ 6xs more often than standard F & D. Plants are getting ~24 small meals every day during lights on
Runoff quickly goes back to the rez, which is also high performance, combining flooming with nutes splashing into a bowl of river rock. Note the 2 magnets affixed to a large chrome nut. Last grow I had this on the feed pump side. Moving it here means it is doing its' magic 24/7
Next post will be about bulb choices
