At first there was some bad reporting and false quick rumors flying around about Jack - as you can imagine - it scared quite a few ... especially Jack's close friends
One of Jack's longtime and great friends is Laurence Cherniak .. Laurence and Jack love each other ... are great friends for over 40 years ... and have been at the forefront in the canna wars all along
When Laurence first heard, and read the false story and rumors about Jack - naturally it really upset him. Then the truth came out, and Laurence decided to write a letter, share his thoughts and share a story or two about his friendship with Jack

Laurence has been working for several years on the re-print of his (amazing book) called " The Great Book of Hash" Book I
Laurence decided long ago .. to make this a dedication to Jack, and we have been working on this for years
Jacks smiling face will be prominently featured throughout the book, and, like all of you - we look forward to Jack's full and complete recovery
The launch of this re-print is October 24, 2009 - so close in time ... We are so looking forward to Jacks full and complete recovery - and cant wait to show him the book - as we all know he will love it and be so pleased
More so - nothing I would love more than to see Jack back to great health, strong and happy - sitting with Laurence ... having lots of laughs .. and seeing them both sign books

Jack saw the truth about so many crazy injustices in the world and it bugged him. He tried very hard to get his points across to everyone and Jack won't die. (SALEM, Ore.) - Our Dr. Phil Leveque and Hemp Icon Jack Herer, go back a long way. Over the years, along with other noted activists and doctors and attorneys, these individuals have led the movement to legalize cannabis, or marijuana, and of course, Hemp.
Jack Herer is the author of "The Emperor Wears No Clothes", the bestselling book that educated the world about why marijuana was criminalized in the first place.
Jack Herer spoke at Portland's HempStalk on September 12th, and suffered a heart attack soon after. Since that day, he has shown some hopeful signs, but has not awakened.
As of this morning, Jeannie Herer told Salem-News, "Right now we're just waiting for the results of the latest EEG test. He still hasn't woken up."
Jack is a fighter though, which he's proven again and again through many challenges that would have stopped nearly all others.
"The Emperor" is currently on the 11th edition, 16th printing. Long story short, Herer explains in fantastic, factual detail that the hemp plant provides the strongest natural fiber known to man, and how Dow and Dupont had to get it off the U.S. market back in the 1930's, to make way for synthetic drugs and in order to market the newly invented plastic and nylon rope; two industries that have led to a major pollution in the United States.
Herer also exposed the connections between the Hearst Newspaper chain, which was an instrumental tool in turning Americans against "Marihuana" and convincing the population that it turned people into ax murderers, through distribution of the movie "Reefer Madness". A mass of fabrication and propaganda, put on film and fed to impressionable young people, Reefer Madness has become an adjective for the belief system it successfully installed and has been maintained through the generations, regardless of the facts. If you've seen it, you understand the level of falsehood I'm referring to. If you haven't, please do.

I have heard from Chuck Jacobs, today, that Mark Herer, Jack's son, told him that Tim Pate has been playing guitar and singing to Jack. Jack opened his eyes, today and seemed to be looking at Tim, although Jack's pupils haven't yet responded to the light. The family is waiting on the latest brain scan. Music is a healing gift, and there are many people counted as "brain dead" and have come back from it. We are still expecting miracles, and hope all of you are too! WAKE UP, JACK!! All of our love is wiith you!

thank jah above that there is some positive news..this situation has been eating me up inside..we can't lose anymore freedom fighters, there is never enough people stepping up to the plate like jack, eddy , and marc..its been a ruff year its got to get better...

Hi. This is Jeannie Herer. I will try to keep everyone up-to-date on Jack's condition. I've been really busy with Jack and don't have my computer with me and haven't figured out how to update his website (www.jackherer.com) on the loaner computer yet.
Jack's awake and out of ICU. He's not talking yet or moving around much. He starts physical therapy on Monday.
I just want to thank everyone so much for all the prayers and good wishes. They really seem to be working. Progress will probably be slow so please keep it up.
