Today I changed out the carbon in the filter. People PLEASE CHANGE YOUR CARBON. If its lab grade coconut or cheepo pet co pellets, it will not last forever and needs regular replacement.
I replace roughly 30-50% in a clip every 6-8 months. after two to three changes every 6 to 8 months of use its been completely renewed this way. and it keeps your cost down.
I've noticed that i can push 100% fresh carbon up to 12 months before the smell gets out of hand. Please be careful fucking around like this, you have to be extremely careful with smells. you become accustom to them rather quickly, and if your growin' herb and burnin' you wont even notice the odor. LEO will. or your Landlord. Or your nosey ass ripper neighbor who you never liked anyway.
it just so happens that this time around I'm 7 months from the last time I've changed out some of the carbon. and if i remember correctly, i only did a 30% change out because i was strapped for cash at the time. well a few days ago i came home after partying to a closed up house. not a window open and the smell just about knocked me off my feet when i walked in the door. The haze was blowing my cover. or was it me blowing my own cover by pushing a tired carbon mix 30% fresh - 70% used past 6 months.....
keep it green, and stay safe...
